Is there a clear cut leader if he pack when it comes to intakes for our beasts?

I like the idea of the JT but can’t seem to find a Canadian distributor and don’t want to spend well over a grand with shipping, taxes, and duties.

I’m leaning to the Injen and Velossa snorkels which I can source locally. My only hesitation there is the lack of heat shielding. And no I don’t want to make my own heat shields as they end up looking pretty fugly.

If there something else I’m overlooking? I see the new BMS intakes, but those filters look kind of small.

What does everyone think when it comes to intakes?

I’ve been on the fence about an intake since day one and I reckon I’ve read every post in every intake thread on this site. And some others. Everyone has their own favourites but for me the fundamental question that needs to be answered first is am 1 going to lose any low end torque if I install an intake. High end gains are of less interest to me if it comes at the expense of the low end.

Factory intake is probably best suited for you. I think its pretty much a given you'll always lose some low end torque to get those mid/high end gains with an intake. But remember that the loss is really only something you'll experience in your initial takeoff, once you're on throttle you'll be shifting above the rpm range where you're experiencing any powerloss.

Mostly concerned about lowend torque for city driving? Stick to OEM.

Are you looking for more passing power on the highway or better track times go with an aftermarket intake.

Yup that’s pretty much what I came up with and why I’m still stock but having it confirmed helps. Thanks.

I'm with you, Ill probably eventually get one anyway because theyre fun to install, sound cool, and the Stinger has so much lowend torque to spare its one of the better platforms for it.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Of the available options I'd get the JT intake over everything else.

another vote for the JT intakes

Performance is probably similar between all of the intakes and none should lower torque or response.

I'm partial to the BMS intake of course for the value and easy install/removal, but if the look isn't for you I also like the route agency power took.

Really...got any proof of no low-end torque loss? Funny how every intake dyno chart starts at 2.5-3k rpm.

Just common sense, there is no physical mechanism through which a higher flowing intake could cause low end torque response. Turbos operate most efficiently with as little inlet (and exhaust) restriction as possible.

Most dynos are not really accurate less than ~2500rpm as they are not able to properly load the vehicle.

I agree with Terry 100% I personally think the Agency power intake is the best but tat is personal opinion but the value/price of the BMS intake is great

Low-end torque loss with bigger intakes is a problem you usually see on N/A cars, and even then usually the gain in the mid/upper revs more than offsets it and you end up being faster. Even if it were true, 5-10 ft-lbs lost at 2k rpm from 400+ ft-lbs of torque (after a few mods) won't exactly kill the car off the line.

Pick your poison. I went with the Injen intakes - large area filters, nice intake and blow off sound, and well engineered tubing. Install was simple, and I love the appearance and sound.

1) Is it going to give huge results by itself? I doubt it - I've seen marginal increases 1/4 mile and 0-60 to this point using Dragy.
2) Is it going to help with additional power mods - e.g downpipes and/or tuning? Yes, I'm pretty certain it will, but I'll wait to see what transpires.

As others have said, intakes are going to help when you start asking the motor to pass more air - there are a number of alternatives, and I don't think there's a huge performance difference between them. Nobody has provided numbers or comparisons that provide clear real world performance data.

I kept the stock intake and got some k&n drop in filters.

That’s what I did. And the velossa tech big mouths. You can slightly hear the intakes with this combination. I live in south Florida where the temp is 90+ and high humidity 7+ months out of the year. So for me I thought it was best to keep the intakes enclosed.

How much can you hear the intakes? I was thinking of adding the big mouths or just removing the Snorkel.

I can only hear the intakes at lower rpm range when first accelerating. Then you can’t really hear them.

Another vote for the JT intake. Great fitment, nice filter area and great craftsmanship.
