Clear cut intake winner?

Agency Power > ALL

Full plastic roto-molded intake tubes = no heat soak

Post pics of it after you finish. Are you removing it to install?

Do you have a way to measure before and after temps?
I’ll definitely post pics. I haven’t installed it yet and don’t have a JB4 to record temps. Sorry. So I’ll be installing the reflect a gold while it is outside of the car. I’ll run it hard and then I’ll touch it and see if I burn myself ;). I should have it on late next week.

I think the reflect a gold should solve any potential heat soak with the Stillen. Thoughts?
It would definitely help
is it 100% probably not
But is it worth switching intake brands?
I dont believe so

But if you are looking to buy a new one
then Id go with Agency

The ssr has a lot of piping, I would be concerned in a reduction in throttle response. Has anyone tried it and can report?
No reduction in throttle response I have them on my car. I had k&n before that. I have to say Ssr is way better in response over the k&n and it’s cooler

Personally if you have the extra cash sell the stillen and get the Agency power you won’t regret it ... will have video of install review tomorrow ... I will also take iat temps but the AP intakes looks amazing . I started a thread on it ....

With the current variety of intake designs, filter and tube types, diameters, lengths and materials, and the complete lack of any head to head empirical data on differences between brands and designs in HP, torque, temperature and flow rates at different RPMs and in different conditions, I'd say your chances of getting optimum performance are just as good as anybody else ...

That's my line of thinking as well. No one knows which intake performs best. We DO know plastic is probably better than aluminum. We can each guess which one LOOKS best, but that's relative.

I personally think JT is the best. I even sent them $720 for one back in July. Unfortunately, that money is still lost in cyberspace (thanks to PayPal, not JT). But even with the extra ducts and cool looks I doubt JT users' intake perform better than the rest.

The Stillen intake is a PITA to install but once it's on it performs the same as the rest, as far as we know.

Am I right in saying an after market intake offers little performance except noise and only performs when the ecu has been mapped to suit the new parameters of the intake? ps. Just asking as im not an expert on these.

I'm no expert either but there are performance gains to be had even without a new map, because the ECU will always adjust fueling based on airflow actually entering the cylinders. There are sensors there, typically for temperature and air volume (mass) - I don't know how it works on a car compared to a motorcycle, but anything you can do to get more airflow into the cylinder will result in better performance even with a stock ECU.

The question is - how much of a gain, and whether it's even worth it without a modified map/tune. Of course in this thread, is there measurable difference between different options. So hard to know because nobody has tried each of them on the same vehicle and the same dyno.

There is a 2 separate videos circulating
1 shows dyno many ways just intake...exhaust and intake exhaust no intake ect...... and both show I think 2hp gain.

Intakes and this ecu take some time to show gains. Back to back pulls are misleading unfortunately. I witnessed this first hand on the dyno as well as using before and after 0-60 runs.

Are the factory airboxes that restrictive? The panel filters look to have enough area to provide more than enough airflow with high flow filters in the boxes. I'm wondering if the Velossa ducts/scoops and K&N panel filters would be the most efficient setup for real world closed good driving while maintaining stealth(don't put the K&N stickers on the car) for warranty work. The sealed box eliminates ALL radiant heat from the filter. The factory and Velossa scoops when combined with the sealed boxes ctually create a Ram Air effect which can help keep the turbos spinning in theory.
I'm not quite sure why all the open box style even have the edge seals since it doesn't seem to press up against the hood from what I've seen.
The AP intake looks like it could be the best following but still not sealed. I'm looking at this from a performance and warranty standpoint.

I kept the factory boxes and went with panel filters. I did not want the loud turbo sound and bov. I matched that with jun downpipes and evc with jb4. Car can go back to stock feeling in 10 seconds it’s great.

Adding intakes does add a good bit of power but i also think the main restriction is that factory snorkle. Velossa and a k&n panel could work but no one has measured yet.

I was set to add the BMS intake to my list of mods, but was informed they wont sell to California residents. The sad part is they are located down the street from :(

This site sells them to CA residents; you just can’t order directly through BMS.

Interesting. I've searched but unable to find it on the products page. Mind if you share the link?

TIA
