Clear cut intake winner?

this shit is so frustrating, I end up checking mine about once a week and usually the driver side is off, never the passenger, im gonna try to see if putting some sort of adhesive wrap might help hold it on a bit more but then it probably will never come off.

Super frustrating and something Ive never expeirenced on any other car with aftermarket intakes Ive owned before
It’s always the driver side for me as well.

I worry about adding any tape/glue that might work it way inside and into the turbos.

Low and behold. Off again.

A perfect example of a company not testing their product enough before moving into production. The only way I can think that might solve that without adding some kind of adhesive is to add a small coupler/extension with a second clamp.it seems that there is too much pressure on that contact point working the connection loose.

I would have to rip the fu@ker$ out of there and replace them. I have no patience for crap like that.

In my experience those screw style of clamps are absolute garbage. I'd start with replacing that first. It's a shame that a several hundred dollar kit comes with five cent clamps.

what kind of clamp is that? it looks like a normal screw clamp to me. Actually my Injen intake had one that was a bit thicker I think.

It’s not an issue of the clamps. It’s the plastic tube. There is no raise boss/lip. The tube narrows the closer you get to the edge. Doesn’t matter if you apply little to moderate pressure, or crank the clamp right. Eventually it walks. This was early in the runs. It’s possible later production fixed it.

just pisses me off they don’t give a shit.

I’ll end up buying a different one. Just sucks I have to eat the cost on these ones.

Didn’t read the whole thread so apologies if this was suggested. Try using hairspray on the hoses and change the clamps to T Clamps.

Or maybe a flush screw or two through the filter and tube, then the clamp over that? Kinda ghetto but it would stay on.

I’m not putting fn hairspray on it. Lol. Again, this isn’t a clamp issue. It’s the god damn design that was half assed. The fact it’s always the same side confirms it. (And I have taken off the passenger to clean often).

This isn’t my first rodeo. Hell, even on my moustang was an injection molded plastic tube from airraid that had the raised boss/lip at the end with the same standard clamps. Never had an issue.

I didn’t come to this thread for advise. I was confirming what another was having issues with AP.

I’m throwing this POS into a bon fire and will buy a better quality one (maybe not in that order) Whether that’s injen, JT. ETC isn’t decided.

haha okay man I understand the frustration. I just had a similar issues with and aftermarket intercooler and silicon hose on my old Wrx and the T clamps and hairspray did the trick. Hope you find a set of intakes that work for you.

Have you tried loosening the turbo clamp, then rotating the elbow clockwise a little bit to make it line up better to the filter? After this, tighten the filter clamp first, then tighten the turbo clamp. I assume it's bumping up into the upper radiator hose, so you may have to squish it into that hose a little to line it up correctly.

I understand that they have an inherent design flaw, which really should be fixed, but you might be able to reduce the chance of it popping off by doing this. If it were angled more clockwise, relative to the turbo inlet, there should be less force to pop it off.

Lol.

had I known and had patience, I would have paid more for the Johnny Tig. Even there, there is fitment issues. But expected on a lower volume, hand built product.

I just installed my JT intake and there was no fitment issues. It all aligned and fitted perfectly. The only issue I had was with the turbo jubilee clip being too small. The quality was second to none. I have seen a noticeable performance improvement over a few days too. Better mid range torque and top end. No loss of low end torque either. I haven't put the JT inlets on yet either. Getting put on next week.

I’ve loosened and rotated everything.

Dang... I'm sorry, guys. I don't blame you one bit for being frustrated.

Checked my car at home, they where on. Drive across town and checked again. Here is the drivers side.
