Canadian Stingers with JB4 - What fuel?

Where are those petrocan 94?? I think we have none is NS

I work in the oil and gas sector, and while I'm not an engineer nor do I work on the refining sector, with all the control of product within this industry it seems blasphemous to think a big business like Petro Canada / Suncor could get away with advertising a fuel as 94 octane if it didn't have the knock reduction potential of a 94 octane. The other possibility is if the Canadian standards don't equal American standards for octane rating (they should), or if the American fuels are outperforming the minimum requirements. Canadian fuels not performing as well as American fuels, in general, sure; Canadian 94 octane not meeting the anti-knock of American 94 octane, just doesn't seem correct. Many big Canadian companies adopt and follow American standards within this sector anyway (API being one of them).

I used Petrocan 94 in my 2010 GT-R (full bolt-on)--had it tuned by Linney Tuning using the Cobb Accessport. Ben was able to tune more aggressively than his standard 93 octane tune because of the gas I was using. Was getting 545 HP at the wheels.

Petrocan 94 has ethanol in it which is why it worked so well tor you. i wish we had that option here, me and my other gtr buddies resorted to mixing our own fuel or going full flex fuel and running e85. we loved e85 so much my friend purchased a private gas station so that he could buy tanks of e85 and help out the community

Wow, that's dedication! I love it! I wish we had e85 here, but no luck. No Shell stations in this town either, so Petrocan 94 is our only choice.

What about the Chevron 94. Is it not better than the Shell 91?
I was getting mad ping on chevron 94, it was better with shell 91 but the best gas so far for my car has been 91 octane that’s a e10 mix like esso 91. Shell 91 and chevron 94 have me ping even on map 1. I run esso 91 on map 1 but map 2 shows timing dips. I also get E85 and run a 20-30% mix then I can run map 5 even if I want but I stick with map 2 or 3 most of the time.

I saw the shell near me says 91 octane doesnt contain any ethanol.. hope its as advertised getting my jb4 next week

According to pure-gas.org, all Shell 91 in Canada is ethanol free along with these others.

All Canada: Shell V-Power 91, Canadian Tire 91, Esso 91, Petro-Canada SuperClean 91

Check the provincial pages for region-specific stations that have ethanol-free gas as well

Ethanol-free gas stations in the U.S. and Canada

@Terry@BMS have you had a chance to look at those PetroCan 94 logs?

As pure-gas.org shows only Ontario Costco's with ethanol free premium fuel in Canada, I checked with Costco this morning using their online chat. I've noticed since I've been fueling there that the 'may contain ethanol' sticker is only on the regular/87 octane side of the pump.

Their reply is that ALL Costco premium fuel sold in Canada is ethanol free. (And is is of course 'top tier' as well).

I was thinking about ordering JB4 and would like to know as well. I currently use Petro 94 and want to know if I should changed to Shell 91 with JB4 installed?

I was very curious about this also as far as knock and MPG. Costco is sooooo much cheaper. I'm all for spending the money on Shell if it's better. But if it's not, there's enough costco's close enough to me to save the money.

I think I'll switch over to Shell 91 first and compare logs to the Petro 94 I've been running. Might try Costco myself after that too. I ran Costco 91 in the Mustang with the 91+ tune and never heard/felt any issues in over a year.
