Burger Tuning JB4 for Kia Stinger!

Dustin I just email Terry too about the cable. Did you send him the PayPal transaction id cause I did not get an order number. I haven't got an email back from him yet.

@Hung tran I'm in the same boat, I don't think the beta customers had a BMS order number so I just included a screenshot of the paypal shipping invoice that showed my shipping address and payment. Hoping that winds up being enough information.

@Killa200 that is true. This will be helpful that we can log what our engine is running since I'm a tech for Kia. I just order the connect kit too.

@Hung tran exactly! It was getting tiring using two setups and trying to sync them both to grab all the engine information needed to tune and troubleshoot properly. This will make things much easier.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
What does this actually mean. My tuning experience has been limited to an ECU flash on my SRT6 and a Cortex on my G8.
I would like to get something that I can safely tune the Stinger and remove before going to the dealership. How does the CanBus reading affect the overall performance, reliability, and safety of the JB4 unit?

It does not it let you monitor all the data on the engine when it's running

From what I understand from some of the BMW piggyback modules that BMS does, as well as the post on the kia thread at their forums they will actively use the canbus data to monitor engine data as a safety in case things start going wrong.

Now some of that may already be built in with the new firmware that coincides with the cable release, but I am guessing some of the tweaks to based on engine performance will be pending us actually getting some good data back to Terry as well.

No cost, just email him your order number

Where in the world do we find our order number? I just paid with PayPal and got the JB4 3 days later. There was never any information sent to me.

Hmm, PayPal transaction ID?

How does the JB4 compare to the possible tunes being offered by Torq and others?

Asks self, do I need to tune the family car:cautious::rolleyes:

The one from Tork is an ECU tune. Its able to make more changes to the car's computer.

JB4, RaceChip, LAP3 mostly only alter how much boost the car makes.

JB4 is more user customizable than RaceChip. With the RaceChip users can only select settings that have already been setup by their engineers. And RaceChip is a few hundred dollars more expensive.

Tork's tune will make the most significant changes to the car but the price is just way too high for me ($1700 for stage 1). Plus I don't want to have to purchase their intake with the tune (because I wouldn't use it).

First thing, the jb4 is more of an advanced piggyback that cannot be easily detected or proven to have been installed and it is cheaper. Tork has more variables because it has coding actually written into the ecu and can theoretically get better results from using all the sensors specific mappings but is also more expensive. Now it can possibly be undetectable with the spare ecu option they offer, but it is not guaranteed (i dont know how kia determines mileage and other readings) I requested on another thread for a stock stinger running to the Tork tune on stage 0 and stage 1 so we could compare it accurately, no response yet, I have only ran map1 on the jb4 but have liked it plenty, no misfire issues (after gapping plugs). I had a 2014 sonata 2.0t and the lap3 chip misfired like crazy. With the update and canbus control on the jb4, I would imagine even smoother operation, due to the many vaiables being accounted for, if anyone with expertise on these things would chime, that would be greatly appreciated.

@Kamauxx I believe none of us that did the beta testing have a BMS order number because we paid the same way you did. I just emailed him as reply from the email conversation we had about purchasing the JB4 asking for the cable, and attached a screenshot of the paypal shipping invoice along with the email.

Terry got back to me this morning asking me to confirm the shipping address to send the cable to, so I'd assume that was enough information to go with.

weird, i got an order number, hopefully e can all get the cable with no issues

With thr piggyback it is undetectable. With a different ecu the dealer will know it has been swap.

Thanks for the reply. I really appreciate the thoroughness of the answer. I’ll be watching the JB4 and seeing the early adopters results.

I picked one up two weeks ago and got the connect kit. With it I also got an OBD cord. Is this the canbus connector?

Also, over 1K miles on running both map 1 & 2, 91 octane, plugs re-gapped. Not a single issue.

Definitely did not get one of those with my kit, so i'd say your right. the OBD port is one of the places you can pick up engine canbus, so that'd be an appropriate place to tap.
