Burger Tuning JB4 for Kia Stinger!

Is the BMS intake very loud? I would like to get an intake but I dont want it to be super noticeable.

By the way I finished installing the fuel wires today(or should I say tonight)! I had too much other stuff to do and just used the jb4 alone for a week. Do you think I will feel a difference?

Any intake that removes that box will be audibly noticeable.

I did not notice the power much. I went with k&n panel filters on my stinger because I did not want the loud whistle and bov sound. I’ve had very loud single turbo with open waste gate on other cars and it was awesome. I want to keep my stinger smooth and quiet though when I close my evc.

Any intake will enhance/increase the sound of the motor. However this is only noticeable when you drive it hard. During regular driving you can not hear it.

That's fine but just know you're making 15-20hp less than those running intakes.

Terry, what is your opinion on primary or secondary cat delete vs intake? is upgrading the intake the better option for the Stinger?

I run a fully stock exhaust and have the fastest stock turbo 1/4 mile trap speed. So, I don't think they are huge performance upgrades. And they are illegal in the USA. I'd definitely do an intake first.

Yeah I’ve made peace with that. When I got the car I had it in my head to get a extra 100hp over stock and I think I’m sitting there now. I’m just trying to injoy the car the way it is now with out going over board. Who knows what will happen in the future though I’ve always gone over board with all my other cars haha.

Is this how yours looks?

Angel look at post 1750 on this page....the number you punch in for each gear is reducing the boost by that number......so in first box (gear1) you might want to art with 1 or 2....then in the next box a 1or 2
it really helps hooking up on slick cold roads too :) Wash

I have AWD I can’t reacall losing traction yet ... and that is less of an issue the fact that on the summer I run 245 up front and 275 out back aftermarket wheels ... I know terry has always reccomend RWD guys tonuse the boost by gear ... I will play around with it this summer to see if it helps the launch ... my problem is somehow boost fluctuating but terry already explains the cause which makes sense so for now there is no real fix for it ...

I thought I read where reducing boost by gear might solve your problem too? Wash
Oh ok I see I have not tried that ... I need to do some digging... I most defenetely will play with that function this summer at the track to see if it can better my 1/4 time ... only time will tell .... I don’t it helps I have full boltsnon lol boost kicks right in ...

That minor boost oscillation that happens sometimes at higher boost levels is just the electronic wastegate gain oscillating. Will happen with any piggyback running a similar target when WGDC deviates too far off the stock tables. It has nothing to do with "tuning" and everything to do with "boost control". There is no fix for it currently other than running a lower boost target. So if it comes up on map3 and bothers you go down to map2. Later when we get direct JB4 EWG control we can turn it off. Also if it comes up at partial throttle turning on FUD bit7 can also help as it lowers boost target in that area. Finally toggling between sport and regular mode can also have an impact as they adjust the pedal to target relationship.

This Angel ^^^^^^^^^^ it aint bout tire spin its bout electronics Wash

If I have time I’m going to try dropping boost 1-2 psi on 1st and 2nd and see if that smooths our the boost.

Post a log of the issue coming up on map0 and map1 for comparison to these map3 logs.
Ok so I managed to get some logs - see attached for logs on Map 0 to 3, all from a standing start without launch control. On the Map2 run, the car was very slow on the 1st to 2nd gear change, almost like the power was cut and then it picked up again. Strangely I didn't hear or feel any fluttering or stuttering on these runs, but the car didn't feel overly quick either.
I then did a rolling start cruising at about 50kmh and put my foot down - the stuttering was then very strong - I have a log of this run attached (rolling start Map 3 file) and I managed to get a bit of audio so you can hear what I am hearing and feeling. The audio is only short and quiet but you can hear it, however, it is much louder and more obvious in person than it is in the recording.

Yes that's just minor boost oscillation the higher boost target combined with bolt on mods like intakes. Caused by WGDC oscillating due to too much gain. In some cases the ECU will adapt it out, in other cases you'll want to lower the target if it bothers you. Perfectly harmless. As mentioned setting on FutureUseD bit7 on is helpful if it comes up under heavy part throttle.

Ok glad to know that it is harmless. Doesnt really bother me too much - it's more my passengers that ask whats wrong with the car.
Other than this, do my logs look good? What about the cutout on map2 after changing into 2nd? I've had this happen a few times.
Also, with my mods - exhaust, intake, BOV, is there anything you recommend I change in the settings on the JB4?
