Burger Tuning JB4 for Kia Stinger!

Does the jb4 have a knock counter for pinging? I had some pinging with my jb4 when I first got it. I switch to different gas station and started mixing E85 and have not had a issue since. When the weather gets nicer I want to start testing out some more fuels. I don’t want to do my testing by waiting till I hear pinging as that can damage the engine. Is there anything I can look for that will give me
A idea? I’ve seen you can look at the timing on the logs but I don’t really know what to look for. Any info would be great. Would be awesome if we had knock detection on the gauges on the app.

I was getting pinging even on map 1 at first. Canadian gas sucks. With E85 I’ve run map 5 a couple times no issue and mostly run 2 day to day.

Don't think I ever saw a log from your car when it was "pinging", but the new firmware will even more useful at identifying poor fuel, and the new logging is another backbone for the upcoming JB4 auto tuning mapping we're kicking around. Should prove quite useful for you.

Don't think I ever saw a log from your car when it was "pinging", but the new firmware will even more useful at identifying poor fuel, and the new logging is another backbone for the upcoming JB4 auto tuning mapping we're kicking around. Should prove quite useful for you.

Yeah I’ve looked too for other people with the issue. Bc gas is pretty bad and I may have got a really bad tank of gas. And it’s not just me hearing pinging and it being something else I did get some on the dyno one time with the people at the shop hearing it and stopped that run on map 3. I’m going to do more testing when weather gets a bit better. I don’t drive my car much, a tank last me a month so it takes me a long time to try other stations. I might swing over to the us and fill up with some shell 92 and see how that is.

Well I can tell you Shell 92 runs Map 2 flawlessly on my car.

Thanks that’s good to know maybe I’ll fill up with shell 92 my next tank and try it out. My tank that pinged the most was chevron 94. I then tried shell 91 and it was much much better. I might try mobile 1 new 91 that’s a e10 mix and see how that is on map 1. I want to try chevron and shell again as well with all the recent updates.

I guess it depends on how good your 90 octane is. I would say it’s still worth it even if you can only run map 1. Even if your gas is so bad that map 1 does not work you can use map 6 and run 1-2psi over stock. Even at only 1 psi over stock I can feel a power increase and with that 1 psi you also get the better AFR with the fuel wires.

Finally got a dragy to check how the car is performing, I’m running map 5 for my daily driver with a E30 mix. I am getting a little wheel spin hence why I’m probably not as quick as I should be, but I thought I would be a bit quicker. Only mods to car is springs and ARK exhaust

Best times we’re all using launch control.

Interestingly I turned the JB4 to map 0 and pulled a 0-60mph in 4.65sec maybe the springs helped ?

You will probably need to use boost by gear settings, I’m much quicker eliminating wheel spin.

Nice log showing the new cyl 2-6 logging in action. Customer is on WMI + E30, maximum octane, lol. And the log shows it! Next steps on this car are the IAT spoofing wires to get boost target up.

Looks good I have the new firmware installed will get some pulls loaded up in a couple hours or so.
