Burger Tuning JB4 for Kia Stinger!

Anyone else running into fuel pressure issues? I have a awd with jb4 bms intakes jun midpipes and evc and running e30 mix. Terry pointed it out to me that I had some fuel pressure drop on map 5 and that got me looking through all my logs for the last 3 weeks. On map 3 fuel pressure can sometimes dip into the 9 if boost hits around 17. On map 5 I get dips into the 8s. This has not caused any issues but now I’m a little worried that may be a issue with my fuel system. The only other thing I’m thinking it could be is I’m sea level and it’s around 0 degrees here and maybe I’m just reaching the power limit of stock fuel system. Anyone else have the same dipping fuel pressure? I tried looking at logs that people have posted on map 5 but there was not many with the fuel pressure showing on the logs.

might be something else your having issues with. Lap3 Turbo upgrade stinger is still using a completely stock fuel system and kicking down 600whp. So it seems there is plenty of fuel there.

I wonder if they are using meth injection.

Not necessarily true. They are spraying quite a bit of MeOH and also are not using e30 so are relying on a much lower volume from the stock system

you are right, there is meth invoved but i think they still got over 500whp without meth

Yeah with race gas I’m sure 500whp would be no problem. It’s when you start adding E85 to the mix that cuts that down. My car was already making 420-430whp on a dynojet(375whp mustang dyno) on map 2 and that was before intakes.

98RON which is closest to 93OCT. not care gas.

Your high fuel pressure is dropping more on map5 than I see other cars drop on map7. So either you're making way more power (due to colder weather), have more E85 then you think, or have a fuel system limitation others don't like maybe a weaker low pressure pump. The real hold up on fueling is getting good low pressure logging active to better diagnose situations where high pressure drops. Have our development car busy testing some other stuff right now so had to put the fueling system development on hold. But we'll get back to it. And in the mean time WMI does wonders. :)

Lap3 is also running meth though so that would compensate for any low fuel pressure issues.

Quick run from tonight as it's nice and cold, 45F! Car is on a half tank of E40 and I ran map2 (no WMI), car is on the stock rims/tires, has our prototype intercooler, and a new suspension modification we're testing.

Hauling ass for such low boost! Tried a run on map3 and was able to get high fuel pressure to start dropping so definitely time to get back to work on fueling upgrades.

Do you happen to have the log from map 3? What did you hit for a low on fuel pressure? I guess running over e30 and cool weather is what does it to make fuel pressure drop. That’s good new to me because I was hoping nothing was wrong with my fuel system dropping fuel pressure on map 5. I did some testing too last night after talking to the tuner down here he said the best gas to run is the 94 e0 and add e10-e20. I did that and have not had any fuel drops under 10 yet at -2 Celsius. Also my timing graphs looked amazing. I don’t know what it is maybe the new bms intake... but my car even with full tank of gas on map 2 feels like it halls ass.

@Terry@BMS regarding the 91 octane here in AZ, is there any way to program the JB4 to make sure that map 2 w/o fuel wires will work on my car with 91 octane? Or would I have to get some maps first?

It should be OK but the only way to know how well it's working is to log it.

Deleted it but will be grabbing plenty more soon enough. High fuel pressure just starts dropping, when it gets to 7-8 in JB4 logs engine starts sputtering.

At least this car just sputters and does not slowly lean out and melt a piston.

We've got enhanced JB4 safety systems too, so it can monitor the AFR for you full time in the background, and abort if AFR in either bank were to go lean. Just one more thing flash tuning & Lap3-Pro can't offer.

I'll be adding a fuel pressure safety to this soon also so it aborts a run BEFORE you get major sputtering.

That’s great have you decided what psi your going to set that at? Or can we adjust it? I do not sputter until 7 on my car 8-9 car still feels just as strong.

I'm working that out now. I think 1200psi which is 8 in JB4 logs.
