Burger Tuning JB4 for Kia Stinger!

About 2g-ish.. and I actually held off from Map 2 until getting the plugs.. guess I know what I am ordering today... money.... money.... money

How many miles on your vehicle? I'm starting to think these factory plugs are shot. Just an opinion

How many miles did you log with it before having issues?

I only put about 50 miles on mine before uninstalling it to do a 0-60 comparison. No problems in that short time.

I've got 1964 miles on mine, logged perhaps 20 miles total with chip in play with a mix of map 0, 1, and 2 for logging. All localized driving with heavy spriniting around, no sustained highway driving.

A vendor relayed bad information from the LAP3 makers regarding the need for upgraded spark plugs. 4 or 5 people ended up having spark plugs/coil damage requiring Kia techs to repair the car.

Was this damage covered by warranty and if not how much did it cost to repair it .

Are you running 91 or 93?

Amazingly enough, neither (I do know better give experience in dealing with high boost, but I've got a tank left to burn off of 87). Always ran 87 in this car since its came from the dealer (which on an unrelated note they also ran and touted as a "feature" of this car, it didn't need premium gas).

I don't particularly think the fuel mix is the issue in this case though, as I wasn't getting knock or pre-det like I would expect out of running too low of a grade for the tune and heat load in the cylinder combustion cycle, but flat out misfire and lack of detonation.

And c'mon, you know someone had to try it on 87 so we would all know! I'll probably try moving to a tank of 91 and testing out map1 and map2 again, and if I still see issues I'll run without the tune until its more refined and we know for sure weather its a tuning issues or a spark plug issue. My nearest kia dealer over an hour away, so it's quite a haul to get it in if something goes wrong.

For what it's worth my teeny bit of testing was done with 93 octane. Does that have anything to do with me not experiecing issues? I have no clue.

Just something worth noting.

absolutely, the higher the octane the better the combustion will be. Also the chances of pinging or knocking are reduced considerably, something that is to be considered whenever you are installing one of these chips. Always use the highest octane possible.

I'm running 93 as well and have not experienced any issues. Personally never ran anything less on a turbocharged tuned motor.

I buy from the same Exonn every time and it’s the Super plus which is 91-93
Good choice in gas and I will only put Shell or ExxonMobile in my vehicles! My car loves the Exxon too, but fuels will only come listed with one octane rating per state laws. It should be either 91 or 93 and those 2 points will make a difference. This is why all the ECU tunes state and require a specific octane to perform correctly. I'm not saying 91 wont run properly with ECU tunes, I'm just suggesting that you confirm the exactly octane you are using so it matches with the tuners recommendations.

I feel like for a motor that’s pushing 400+ with a pair of snails needs 93 octane and up for optimal performance.

Update... I installed the newest firmware that is on the bottom of the first post “1B.hex”.. It still stutters on MAP 1. So I came back home to grab my laptop and log, but the cable is to short and will need to order an extension.
