Burger Tuning JB4 for Kia Stinger!

Just installed the Bluetooth kit and updated the firmware to the Hex6 file... muuuuch better overall.

I’m not sure which firmware I was on, but updating the JB4 increased its value for sure.

Map1 looked solid to me with a lot of wheel slip (raining), Map 2, some lean AFR’s on initial launch, to my eyes. Going to send em to Terry and let him look at them.

But there seems to be a good polishing from whatever I ran vs the newest firmware.

I prefer a one on many format so this thread or our stinger thread on n54tech are good places to reach me. :)
Terry for some reason I trying to update to v6 firmware and when my jb4 phone app directs me to the forum and I go to the the red t6 attachment I click on it but it won’t download ... it does not work can you please advise, thanks

Mine worked, it was quick. Walked out to the car, connected and clicked update and it done in like 2 minutes.

Definitely doesn’t sound right and suggest posting a few “launch control” logs to see where your boost levels are in 1st. I have the GT2 with LSD (Limited Slip Differential) and still easily spin tires with just intakes, especially in the colder weather... with 50-100 more torque you should roast those stock tires!

Hi StungBlueGT2

I took the car for a run this morning and logged you can see the CSV files on the link below on N54 tech.

I'm running Map 5 with 30% plus of ethanol with fuel wires and the V6 firmware and the car only spun the wheels a little of launch the below snap shot is taking of with launch control.

Appreciate peoples thoughts to work out what may be wrong

I know approximately nothing about reading logs but I'm guessing that most of the run being under 10psi with a max of 15 might be the culprit?

*edit* I'm probably looking in the wrong column. Ignore me.

Isn't that jump from 10 - 20 psi at ~3000-~3400 RPM not good? I don't have much experience tuning this car but I would think fluctuating 10 pounds is abnormal?

I know approximately slightly a little bit about reading logs and I don't see an issue. The timing curve looks good, boost is hitting ~17psi (in the 3rd log), and AFRs look good. D-C maybe you're just used to the power...

@D-C have you messed with the boost by gear settings at all?

Help me understand.

For psi you're looking in the ecu_psi or boost column?

All good mate

Appreciate any help with this issue

Thanks

Boost and boost2. ECU psi is the fake data that the jb4 is sending to the ECU to make it think it's at stock levels.

@D-C you definitely pull some timing at the boost spikes, I’d let Terry check but you might want to put some fuel back in up top around 5500-6200 range and pull a slight touch of timing.

It’s not “bad” but I would think that could be better.

Also you played with the boost by gear setting? Looks like there’s lower boost in the lower gear.

So do you think I should be adding a few more litres of E85 when filling up ?

I didn't think I had changed anything for boost by gear but must have done something, Is that map 6 boost ? or where would I change the boost bye gear ? looks like my 3rd to 4th gear pull has much higher boost.

appreciate your feedback thanks mate

Thanks TwinSnails

Logs seem fine to me, maybe those springs are helping with traction? Are you shifting manually or letting it shift? Get a dragy and do some 1/4 mile and 0-60 runs to see if it's putting down the power!

I would add a touch more E85, just to cushion some timing... but then again I will be on WMI before I go to map6.

How does it sound? Feel?

Thanks

Feels strong and quick its just not spinning and kicking out which I expected more, it just grabs and takes off.

Do you know how to turn of the boost by gear ?

It's off, boost by gear on user adjustment page. Enjoy the traction, I wish I had it.

As above, it looks to be off.... you on the stock tires. Man, I dunno.... it’s better to hook and go for sure.

One thing though it seemed to kick out and drift in the dry better around corners when it was standard before the JB4, now it feels like something is pulling the power down and stops the wheels spinning and less kick out so its not as fun. I expected it drift like an animal once I was running Map 5
