Burger Tuning JB4 for Kia Stinger!

Turbo timer would be awesome
Funny, I was just thinking about timers the other day, they were a huge deal in the early 00's, and haven't heard much since. Also, zero turbo issues in the last 20 years without one, and I have had many many turbos over the years.

Terry,
Can we hope to see some day exhaust temp displayed in JB4 logs?

There isn't an exhaust temp sensor on the vehicle.

Trans temp we'll add at some point.

Hey @Terry@BMS, can you please look at this log. Nothing "wrong" with the car or how it runs, just wondering if I'm getting the most out of it. When on Petro 94 a couple weeks ago, the car ran 13.19 @ 107mph and the app hasn't logged better than a 5.15s 0-60 with AWD, all on map2.

This new log is Map 2, no fuel wires (going to wait on those), DIY open cone intake, 91 octane Shell (no ethanol). Boost looks good to me, but I looked at logs of many others and see many pushing an average of 14 on ignition, mine is closer to 10. Also see in the first third gear pull timing dumped to about 3 early on, then came back. Second third gear pull was better but averaging about 10 on timing. Last pull was a 0-60. Am I short on power because of timing (octane?) or is this all I can expect? I was really hoping for high 4s 0-60 and high 12's in the quarter at our 2200ft alt.

I’m in Canada as well in bc. I find shell to be lacking for map 2 for my car. I mix E85 to keep it safe. My car ran a 12.2 at 116 on map 3 with exhaust and intake on shell with a e20-e30 mix. When weather is super cool my car would only get up to 10 for timing as well but when it got hotter out now I’m running up to at least 15.

We have nothing here for E85 that I can find. This was third and fourth on my fastest run with "94" octane from Petro. I just feel like timing could have been higher. third and fourth quarter.webp

The timing looks ok to me. There was that one dip but the higher gear was better. Just because your not going up to 15 does not mean you don’t have enough octane. There’s lots of other things the computer adjusts for timing such as temp. I thought that for a while too when my car would only hit 10 even with a e30 mix then temp went up and my timing goes even higher then 15 now.

Your timings seem too low. Maybe add some octane booster or lower boost.

Log itself seems OK. At higher elevation, lower octane, timing and power are going to be a bit lower. Would be interesting to see trap speed on the 91 vs. 94 octane. Often the 91 performs better.

Thanks Terry. I did plan to try out the 91 at the track a bit later too. I only made 3 runs last time out since people were crashing, breaking down...etc. Early season problems I guess.

This tank does have about "1/8 tank" of the 94 remnants, so it's not pure 91 ethanol free, but mostly.

Hi Terry
In Map 8, the target boost set by JB4 is not a flat line and it decreases as RPM goes up. Could you explain the logic behind? Does JB4 use the feedback from the timings and reduce the target boost or is there some kind of algorithm? It does not seem to do so in Maps 2 or 3 (or very slightly)

Example :

Map8 is a WMI map based in part on the water/meth flow reading, but we've also built in boost taper to all maps, designed to match reasonable output targets from the compressor which drops off as RPM increases.

That boost taper is different in each gear? Is it hard coded or can you adjust it (for example if you upgrade the turbine internals)?

I don't suggest using map6 on E85 unless you have E30+ fuel in there, because there won't be a safety if meth stops flowing.

We adjust whatever we want to adjust on the back end. User adjustment is more limited to what we plausible want customers to be able to adjust.

Has anyone tried using E30 on a 2.0 Stinger? Or should I be the test dummy and get some logs with it?

@Terry@BMS
Does anyone know what tool or how to remove a wire from the jb4 once it clicks on without damaging it? Is there a special tool or method? Where coins I purchase this tool?

Lol, yeah theres a special removal tool.. dont try to do it without it
