Burger Tuning JB4 - 2.0T!

Can someone take a picture of where the connections go?

Hey there! Sorry for the extremely delayed response. I must've missed it.

It was running great until Map 2. In CA, we don't sell anything higher than 91 octane, and I didn't have fuel wires either, so I ended up selling it. Map 1 wasn't bad, but that alone didn't worth the half a grand I forked out for the mod. Couldn't take advantage of the full potential. My car also had issues related to pre-ignition during that time. This issue eventually fixed itself via the knock sensor (probably - but the problem went away on its own nonetheless).

You know you could have gotten some Boostane on Amazon and run Map 3 right? I have and it's a kick.

Right right. I just didn't want to be incurring costs in addition to the cost of jb4. I just became a bit more cost conscious.

Looking to get his thread going again..

I just ordered the JB4, HKS plugs, and BMS Pedal Tuner for my 2.0

I saw a post where someone installed a Lap3 and where those connections go.. so I assume the JB4 connections will be the same.. but we all know what’s happens when we assume.

Does anyone have pictures of the install of a JB4 on a 2L?

Thanks Chyoon. I think I need to get my hands on the unit and it will make more sense. Should be here by Saturday!

no worries, thanks chyoon. Do you know of any other 2L guys in this forum that have them installed?

I'm still interested in the JB4, but I'll admit it gave me pause when the local shop guy I showed the Stinger to yesterday basically threw up in his mouth a bit when I mentioned piggybacks. He called them "lie boxes" where you have no insight into what they're doing. Recommends a full flash tune over anything else. I see his point, but seems much more expensive/complicated for that small peace of mind. And you still have to trust whoever did the tune knows what they're doing right?

There aren't many flash tunes out for the 2L. Believe Tork Motorsports has one out and Lap3 is working on a wastegate upgrade & tune, but it doesn't say when it will be available.

I had a jb4 on my 18 premium for months and enjoyed the additional power, I recently upgraded to a 19 GT2 and will be reinstalling my jb4 soon.

Those are nutzo gains on the Lap3. Will be keeping my eye on that.

Since I received my Premium in February, I had the notion that I was going to get it tuned to increase the amount of daily smiles this car brings. I thought to go the Lap3 route, but decided to wait to see what others were going to put out. RaceChip mentioned they were going to start tuning the 2.0T and that came into thought, but they've placed our motor on the back burner to focus on other applications. I get it and totally understand.

Several weeks(maybe months) ago I reached out to Terry at Burger Motorsports about a tune and he was open to the idea, but wanted someone to stop into their shop for fitting. No takers that I'm aware of.

Over the course of several weeks, I would stop by the N54Tech forums that are run by Burger Motorsports to check on any updates to the stinger platform and read the comments people were posting. Once comment had me thinking... Someone asked about ByteTronik which looks and operated much like the jb4. Then, Terry from BMS said they've license the jb4 to ByteTronik and recently took back ownership of tuning for the platform. ByteTronik has a product for the 2.0, so it seems like the jb4 would also work. So I sent an email to Burger and asked if it would work and got the reply I was hoping for, "yes it does work for the 2.0T"! :D Then BMS got the CANbus working and I was sold.

Placed the order last Tuesday for the jb4 and jb4 connect kit, was told the package will arrive on Saturday. The day comes and anxiously checked the USPS about delivery, notified they cannot deliver since nobody as home to sign. But, I was there! Looked at the time, saw that it was within minutes and proceeded to drive around the neighborhood to collect my package. I found him!

Saturday involved regapping my stock spark plugs and installing the jb4 all of which was very straightforward. The only issue was that the jb4 connect kit was a brand new version and would not connect to the device. I contacted support and they sent me a beta version of their app, which I installed this morning and worked!

Overall very happy with the purchase and install process. the stock tune peaked at around 14lbs of boost and map1 peaked at 19lbs. I'm sure there's an overboost function to get to the 19lbs. No codes and no issues thus far, but its only been a few days.

I tried map 2 and got a misfire during WOT, looks like I'll be sticking to map1 for a while.
I installed my JB4 on my 2.0T 2 days ago . I am using map 1 for my daily drive. I am waiting on getting the app adaptor . I use 93 octane in my car only. As soon as I drove it I felt the difference. Does anyone use the other maps for their daily drive (map 2)? I did not add the catch can yet though I am going to soon.

I don’t daily drive on map2, but have used it many times without any issues.

Post a log on the n54 website and Terry will take a look and let you know if he sees anything funny.

Thank you TStaino. So Map1 for daily drive?

Yes just map1 for me. But I’ve heard from another 2.0 owner who drove on map3 on a daily basis.

Best idea is to post some logs for Terry to look at, and then ask him if he thinks it’s okay for you to move up to a higher map. He is the expert on knowing what to look for and is very helpful and responsive.
