Burger Tuning JB4 - 2.0T!

Here is the Dyno from today (57 degrees temp). Only Map 0 and Map 3 printed out on chart. On Map 0, this tells me that my mods alone are making 232 whp. Map 2 was not on the chart, but was 240 whp. Map 3 on the chart made 263 peak whp and 287 wtq....both now higher at the wheels than stock crank numbers of 255 hp and 260 tq. Not sure why the drop on Map 0 between 4-5k rpm. Overall, I may get close or match stock GT numbers with e85 mix or WMI and fuel control.

Yes.....Crank HP & TQ conversion (I know a lot of folks prefer to stick with Dyno #s) puts the numbers at 337hp and 363tq. With a BMS Intercooler while running Map 7 WMI with Fuel Control.....i may be able to get close to 300 whp. Not bad for $2200 for all of the mods (exhaust, intake, throttle controller, plugs and JB4 with Bluetooth). Doesn't include the cost for the Racechip RS.

Published Stock GT numbers but both whp and wtq just above 300 (hence the 365hp and 376tq).....but many believe that the actual numbers on the GT were underestimated.....hence the numbers you stated. In either case, I'm having fun getting the most bang for my bucks....especially when there are plenty of GT's without 8 inch touchscreen navigation, 15 speaker Harmon Kardon system and sliding Sunroof.

100% with you on this.....My 2.0 is a daily driver. 30 min. commute (one way) to work mostly, 4 lane hwy/bypass. Yes, the GT was first thought but my requirements were "quickly getting around the left-lane hugger and going past them". Stock in sport mode does this for me.....jb4/MAP1 does it a little better...no desire for any major mods so map1 is it(new engine replacement factors in as well) just enjoying the Stinger during my commute.

Still thinking of upgrading to a GT but even that thought is in danger of changing to a 3.0 Supra. Have a few months to decide if I am ready to give up the practicality of the back seat/large space under the hatch.....lol

My commute to work is the same 30-35 mins. Only mine is at 3am when the highway is empty. I'm mostly cruising between 70-80mph & my concern is if I will foul the m45xl's. How are your plugs holding up?

the M45XL's are good plugs although, pricey.......not sure what happened to my vehicle but the plugs were still in good shape. Had absolutely no issues with them....of course, they are not 100K mile plugs but that is the price of admission when tuning....

With new engine, JB4 is off, stock plugs/gap but kept K&N filter.....Only matter of time before either GT or Supra so might as well let it enjoy the "stock" life.....May put my jb4 up for sale on forum at some point.

Hey everyone Greetings! I'm owning a Stinger 2.0T. Had some experience which I wanna share and get your thoughts.
Of course just like any other owner, I wanted to get more out of my car so I decided to take it to a company over here specialized in ECU remapping

So there I was with a Stage 1+ at 25.000KM on my car. Walking down with 50+ HP (230 stock/270 stage 1+) which really made me pretty happy, UNTIL..

I noticed some clicks/clanks noises when flooring it at higher RPM. Guys said it is the Turbine wastegate.

It seems it was Cylinder no 3 failing. So there I was, with my car in service for two months waiting for a whole engine change.

Happily warranty took care of it and here I am with a new engine. Of course, with the same wishes in my head, I started searching around for things that can help my car perform better (not that I don't love it like this, just because I'm a passionate).

Got the Magnaflow Cat-Back Competition exhaust and the Injen Intake and wow, what a change. Love the sound and we'll see tomorrow on the Dyno what are the differences. Last week I did a dyno to check what the new engine was juicing out stock (of course I drove it first around 2000 KM to make sure it sits well). It seems that I have around 224HP on the engine, probably because it's new, should sit well in the future KM's (My stinger is RWD). But even though.. pretty big difference from what KIA is stating taking in consideration that my model is 256HP one. Oh well.

My question is, I'd really love to have the JB4 and the Spark Plugs recommended. Are there any risks with the JB4? (Stupid question, don't judge, but after changing an engine, I hardly try not to be paranoid). I see people are happy with it but I'd love to hear more about my situation and the JB4.
Should I do it? Should I leave it stock?

I assume the first engine had some issue on cylinder 3 from factory because it's not that often that a cylinder gets hurt after a ECU remap and probably the remap just made it worse and "helped" it fail faster.

I too had my engine replaced and for a while, connected the jb4 back up with new HKS plugs and made sure things were running top notch with plenty of logs. MAP 2 was daily used with plenty of smiles to go around. When I got the replacement engine, it was making 18 psi boost at peak running STOCK so when I tried to run MAP 3, it kept hitting the "boost safety". I then, removed the jb4, put new stock plugs back in and have been stock ever since. This is mainly due to either getting a 22 Stinger GT or Supra. i can only say that i sleep very well at night but have nothing but GREAT things to say about the jb4.

Terry at BMS is very good with support as well.

No risk of running JB4. Has safety precautions to prevent car damage if you go overboost. It will disable itself.

Just ordered the HKS M45XL plugs to put them in first anyway. I believe they are much better than the stock OEM.

At the time the engine went "south" on me, I had been using the jb4 but they said that it was a rod but no further explanation???? I know there is a lot of info regarding using the stock plugs but I went with the recommended HKS - 0.22 gap. You can use 0.024 if you think 0.022 is too close. After all, it is your vehicle.

If you make sure to take logs before bumping up in maps, you can get good feedback as to how things are running and that info will help determine if your setup is ok to go to a higher map.

Coming up with a little update. Mounted the HKS M45XL Plugs (didn't gap them, will see how things work like this, if there's any little issue, will gap. Did some Logs with the JB4 and all were looking good as I got amazingly fast feedbacks from the guys, cheers to them for that! ), JB4 + Wireless Connector + the OBDII and the HKS BOV.

This is crazy. Map 1 is MORE than enough for me, it has such a big boost and car feels so snappy. Map 2 is crazy good but ain't gonna use it that often. And Map 3 is a total overkiller, I'm actually pretty scared to use it Tried it once and JB4 got me back to Map 0 (protection) so I guess that was a no-no for me (probably because I was running 98+ gas). Now I'm on 100+ and Map 1 should be a daily all good to be driven.

Getting to numbers and launch control. This car is a different car! Map1 + Launch Control, one of the best launches, the car gets not moving but directly thrown into torque, feels like a punch.

Stock 0-60 mph (I was around mid 7 to 7,8s anything I was trying).
Map 1 - 6,4s - 6,2s
Map 2 - 5,6s (best I got)
Map 3.... I wonder

I would say the difference is amazing. Even on Map 1, I feel it's worth every penny.
Will see in time how things will move but I have a good feeling this JB4 is a nice addon to the car
That's it! In case anyone is wondering HOW much power will a JB4 add to their 2.0T stinger? Answer - a lot. And I mean it. 2 seconds less frorm 0-60 compared to Stock is huge. I was seeing people with Stage 1 ECU tuning barely reaching a 6,8 (1 second advantage).

Anyway, I'm not racing my car, neither do launches at every stop sign, but just to share some fun infos.
Also car feels amazing on smart mode, a quarter of pedal and car has so much torque compared to stock, it's actually useful.

Test is from 2nd gear WOT from 2500RPM through 3rd gear until redline then left the foot at 4th gear (speed limits everywhere over here). Let me know your thoughts! Thank you

Your mods are similar to mine. I would recommend the Racechip XLR Throttle Controller. As it is known, it doesn't add power, but allows you to access it quicker. For me, I've noticed an improvement between shifts. I leave it in Sport +, Race and Race +. Having it in Race Plus while the car's mode is in Sport is as noticeable as the difference between the car's Normal and Sport mode. Anyone else using a throttle controller?
