Brake snip issue

Any update from Kia on your issue since the mod?

Looks like you are one of he few sane ones. Has to be a dozen snipers out their already. I'm waiting on initial test results and then will decide.

Another guy i went to meet 60 miles away had the same problem and we both did the same error, we did the LC but didnt launch, he said he was at a cheap deag strip with no lights ( hand signal to start) and hr held too long and engine stalled on him... we're both with the same issue and my dealer just replaced the teansfer case... suspect worn teeth or the chain stretched when we didnt launch it

The dealer passed the transfer case on warranty... they did the install yesterday and said the issue is fixed... i will see my car monday as im out of town
Wow I can’t believe they covered that. You have a good dealer there. Id be bringing those guys a case a beer haha.

Yup they got my business as long i stay with Kia :) they're rated top 5 garage service in canada.. and they like my mods... not sure if ill test the LC with the snip again, will depend if they allow me to get the new transfer case changed again if i get same issue

Still not getting my head around how not launching can cause damage vs. launching - unless it's simply the extended time holding the higher RPM (which should cause the same issue/damage whether the launch followed or not).

Either way, not a good sign if something that simple can destroy a transfer case with this bypass in effect. Glad the dealer backed you on this one, but I think I'll pass on the wire snip. :cautious:

You mean it wasn't a U-joint? Kidding.
I think it is the extended time in combo with the massive torque.
After doing the snip I agree its way to wicked to use. We need a more controlled solution that can limit the torque a bit during brake but get to full throttle much faster.

Was the guy you met an AWD or RWD? Also let us know if the dealer fixes him as well.
Also is his Stinger Black? Trying to figure out if we have 2 or 3 broken transmissions so far.

Hope this doesn't lead to a protracted TC failure for others using this bypass. :(

If this is something like chain stretch caused by a sustained period of excessive torque loading, it makes me wonder if this isn't slowly happening on other modified cars as well, just over a cumulative number of launches.

Unlike certain tissues with elastic properties, a stretched chain won't recover to its 'pre-excited' state after the stimulation goes away ... :p

hmmm so if the issue is in the transfer case, maybe RWD cars are safe to use the snip. Traction is a whole other issue though :)

2nd gear launch!

Hold full throttle for 4 or 5 seconds 2 or 3 times and we will find out! :)

What mode where you in? Sport or Comfort? 20% to the front has to be less damaging than 50% to the front.
