Brake pad deciphering

Nick had been saying some were coming. Maybe he will respond to my question.

Is anybody going to offer these, what is your thoughts?

I guess there are always the Euro-spec rear pads? They're around $200/set. Carbotech was interested, but asked for a set of OEM rears to verify measurement.. I've also emailed porterfield, and they said they were looking into the Stinger. That was back in June - I've asked for an update.

Very interested to see what stoptech will release, the centric part is a 105 series which is equivalent to the stoptech 308 (street) I think. 308 would be too mild an application in my opinion, most likely better than the OEM but the braking system in this car does seem to generate quite a bit of heat, the 309s would be a better fit.
I put 309s in the front and over the past few days I've driven on them they've only gotten better and better, even on first stop prior to warm up on below 5°C mornings.

Any update yet, Every few weeks I scour FB groups and on here to see if I missed some kind of announcement.
I imagine that the first shipment is going to sell out in a hurry...

Looks at this Lexus ISF Rear Pad....
very close in measurements!
I’ll order up a set of cheapies to see if it fits. Looks promising, and the ISF has huge aftermarket support.

A little birdie told me that the rear pads are the same as '18+ STI rear pads, just without counterweights..

Edit: in which case, there should be a LOT of options available in the near future..

Okay, so who is going to take the plunge and order some.
We've all been waiting for this!

Looks like not many are making pads for this model year STI rear yet. Have you found any? No stop tech or hawk listing yet.

If this is correct, the Akebono number should be ASP961

Hi all - Ken from KNS Brakes.

We sent out some race pads for the front of a Stinger a few weeks back and once he sent us some photo's we were of course intrigued.
The car is pretty fast and heavy and the brakes are good but not great apparently. The street compound creates judder for many and on track the front pads are too small.

I finally got some pics together and here is what we have.
The short story is the front pad is D1001 and the rear is a new shape shared with the 2018+ STI
But......they are 'modified' forms of these pads.

The fronts have the awesome counterweights, pad wings, and when round they are called roller skates on a Camaro SS. No biggie as we can use pads without those. But you also have the wraparound shim so a detail may be missing.

The rears match up with the 2018+ STI but again we have the wrap around shims and the weight wings.

See pics below.

Well no pics yet - not ready

Front pad with wrap around shim compared to Carbotech D1001

One thing I have not clarified.

Are the backing plates the same width as D1001 - and the shim is a bit extra so thus the total is slightly wider?
If so a D1001 will rattle a bit.

Or - is the Kia pad plate slightly narrower to allow room for that shim on both ends.

This was a new way for Brembo to try and keep the brakes quiet

KNS does not have the post count yet so I will upload them from the FB group. (you need to get to 10 posts to upload pics)

I want to report in that the Akebono front pads are lightyears better than the stockers. Not even a close contest...brakes now feel like they should.

which ones did you get?
