• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

Badge removal in Aussie summer

Did you know your car is worth more as a trade in if you have the original badges? Lol
Really ? now I don't know if I should rebadge.....thinking yeah, I will

HE'S DONE IT, HE'S BLOODY WELL DONE IT! What about the posterior? By my reckoning you've got enough"fuel" to another 3.8 badges.

Thank you for the gratz however your calculations failed to account for the introduction of the rum and coke variable and the application of the law of diminishing returns.

I hope he's read the script ? ......it say Stinger lol. I wonder if it's the black one?

Funny you should mention that. I’ve always had a fantasy about a large black Stinger covering my back side. What!!! Get your mind out of the gutter. I mean I’ve always liked the large Stinger script centred on the boot and offloading the small stinger and GT badges but I’ve been too nervous about rebadging to do it.

I’ve got the rear K badge but I haven’t applied it yet because I’m thinking now that I’ll just go straight to the big Stinger option.

Edit: Oh,and Ozstung I have to thank you for the tip on the Desolvit. I bought some, used it and it was the gear. The adhesive just fell off. Many thanks.

Your my hero

Aaarrrgghhhh! Now you tell me !!! Lol. No scratches. Finished product here.

Looks a tad crooked, mate, like it's leaning to the left? Or is it just how you're standing?

FWIW, I did mine in the fall (autumn) here and it was cool, I'd guess 10ºC or less in your money. Heat is not required or of much use working with this mounting tape (3M VHB.) Remnants can also be removed with a very mild solvent, like mineral spirits - which is a component of WD40, by the way - which also works well. It's what I used when sawing on mine with nylon, strategically squirted here and there as I went, then used to remove any tiny pieces my fingernails couldn't get at.

So my point is - don't let lower temps turn you off. It really makes no difference. Technique - ALWAYS pulling away from the painted surface, but taking your time - is the most important thing.

I think the black script on the red stinger looks good. I think @nhcowboy28 has the same front badge as yours and the black script, might be worth checking his out in the gallery.

Oh Gawd, don’t tell me that. Going back and looking at the photo now it does look wonky. I’ll check it out later. After cleaning the area I put the old badge back in place and ‘framed’ it with painters tape to use as a guide for the new badge so it should be straight. The sun was low on the horizon to my left and I was standing to the right when I shot the pic plus I was a bit pissed so I’m hoping it’s just the photo that’s crooked.

Yup I shamelessly ripped off his idea. I saw his post a month or so ago after he’d rebadged his and was super impressed with how good the badge looked on his red car. I PM’d him, he kindly gave me the link to purchase and some tips and I ordered my badges the same day. I’m going to take some better pics later (after I check whether the badge is straight lol) and post in the What I did today.... thread and thank him.

It was the law of diminishing returns. Btw my front E badge is crooked as the posts where off, nothing I could do. Not many people noticed it. Luckily the back script was perfect.

That set up to me is the bench mark for how the "reds" should look.

I thought you Aussies were all jokers! I was messing with you, looks fine to me!

Lol. Yup, you got me good. I was so paranoid about messing up my car or messing up the rebadging I probably would have believed anything.

id say he thought it was open season when he read about diminishing returns and the extra rum & coke you took on board lol. Put that one in the memory banks lol

Ok so it’s 32° here now, bright, hot and sunny and I’m about to start rebadging the car. I don’t recall any of the rebadging threads discussing an optimum inebriation level. I’ve had 2 tinnies, started my third and have 21 more opportunities. Any advice on what the appropriate window is?
My advice would have been to drink more but I see it's too late. I'm just getting started following a big night at Star Gold Coast. Enjoying a few recovery Crownies at VIP function now.

Lol. I ended up taking your advice anyway. Paying for it now. About to head over the road to a mate’s place for the recovery. Not looking forward to the first one but the second one will be ok.

My fifth one is much better than the 1st.
