• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

Badge removal in Aussie summer

Lol. Totally guilty as charged. I’ve been keen to rebadge mine since day one but some of the horror stories plus my total incompetence with anything like this has held me back. But I’ve got some plastic wedges, adhesive remover, painters tape and the badges I’m putting on are the same size as the originals so if I do lift a bit of paint I should be able to hide it. I’ve read all the threads, watched all the vids and I’m ready to go.
Confidence my man as stated here before I have two office working, middle aged left hands. Take your time read the DIY segments here ,watch the vids have goo dissolver a credit card, light fishing line and hair dryer and perhaps some rubbing alcohol or straight alcohol if you're nervous. The key with the script from memory is to line up the N & the G. Silicone the two holes prior. I used this stuff from Bunnings along with the hair dryer and the back one just about fell off. The front was slightly more stubborn.20180831_200342.webp

Wouldn't eucalyptus oil work to get that sticky shit off??

Probably would but I doubt it would be as effective as that dissolve stuff that really went to town on it. Twas a breeze.

I just used thumb and finger for the most part, but you run the risk of rubbing your prints off depending on how well stuck it is. Ended up using a small amount of mineral turps on a rag. Just enough to wet the goo, it softened it up and it came off easier. Didn’t appear to affect the paint but be careful regardless of what you use, there’s plenty of horror stories about the paint lifting.

Come to Gold Coast on the weekend and I'll help you.

Extraordinarily generous of you Shannon. I’m already booked up this weekend but I would have liked to have met up even just for a quick beer. Next time. Thanks to everyone else for the advice and encouragement. I’ll be going to Bunnings and grabbing some of that Desolvit thanks Ozstung. I’ve got a bad habit of overthinking tasks that I’m attempting for the first time and then, when it turns out to be easier than expected, I’m all “Well shit, that was easy. What the hell was I worried about?” So I’m hoping this will be one of those times.

Ok so it’s 32° here now, bright, hot and sunny and I’m about to start rebadging the car. I don’t recall any of the rebadging threads discussing an optimum inebriation level. I’ve had 2 tinnies, started my third and have 21 more opportunities. Any advice on what the appropriate window is?

Yay. Now for the cleanup. For future reference about 5 stubbies gives you the correct proportions of reticence and aggression.

Did you know your car is worth more as a trade in if you have the original badges? Lol

Finished product Ollie? Did everything go according to script. How was the alignment with the beer goggles on compared to them off or do we have to wait until tommorow. Sorry don't want to badger you.

HE'S DONE IT, HE'S BLOODY WELL DONE IT! What about the posterior? By my reckoning you've got enough"fuel" to another 3.8 badges.

He's gotta do the back one yet. Lets hope its a doozy like the front one.
