Bad paint micro blue gt

It doesn’t matter what they put there . It’s either the paint or clear does not stick or dry properly.ill let you know they are going to sand and grind all my doors down and repaint. Y if you know how to get this thread more attention go ahead and move it or change it. This is going to be a big issue for lots of people.

The paint and body guy said it is rolled clamped steel there and the paint is just so soft it feels like rubber there.but that is the paint never fulling cured and harden.

I was at dealer yesterday looked at 10 new stingers 5 had paint already coming off on the hatch where medal is rolled on edges where roof meets hatch salesman was blown away we fund same issue.kia must be getting a bad supply of products or not being mixed properly. Something is not right hope they find it and get fixed. This car is a big deal for them.

Were these 2019 MY?

All the ones I saw and mine are 2018. But if they haven’t had any complaints on those. What reason would they have to look in to it. It’s on cars made over a year period. If people that own them aren’t looking for it. You wouldn’t notice until it gets bad. Mine was fine for months then noticed tiny bumps. Has it rains and you wash car the water runs down channel and just adds to problem. Just keep and eye on it to be safe

I got my Stinger script put on by a pro body shop. Where they took the original smaller Stinger script badge off (left rear side) there is ghosting of a few letters embedded in the paint. It was enough that they didn't want me to proceed, but it's very faint. They told me they believed it was caused by putting the badge on before the paint and/or clear coat was properly cured and hardened.

There ya go. It all has to do with moisture. The plant in Korea could have to high of humidity level inside or paint and clear coat where mixed wrong. With not enough thinner, harder, etc.like I said I’m anal about car wash ever week wax every other month. I look at everything on this car when I clean it. That’s the only way you notice it. Not many people are looking down there door jams. But I’ve seen it on aleast 10 cars in person and pictures all different colors it’s a problem.

Thanks. I already have spots inside the door where there is no paint and between fender seams. Dealer approved bumper repaint, but I'm holding off to see what develops. I fear it won't be to my liking.

The yellow was a clear coat f up. Not enough. Trust me all these colors look like poop poop. Until you add the clear coat.thats what makes them look pretty.

Yes also remember plastic parts on car where painted at different factory. Then they where shipped and place on frame. That’s why most of the problems are on the metal surface of the car. Not to say the plastic was done any different

Don’t wait to long rust will start forming. I was going to buy after lease but I don’t know now. Rust will kill a car quietly.

OK, so I just checked my Micro Blue GT2 and I do not have 1 or 2, I have more then 20 "bumps" all along that same seems in all 4 doors. If any one has followed my paint issues posts before, they know I am no stranger to paint issues with my previous Micro Blue 2.0 Premium. I had been so happy to report that on my new GT2, I had not seen any paint issues until this. The bumps are as everyone else is reporting, soft and almost "rubbery". This sucks. :(

My GT2 is a Dec 2017 build date, where the previous 2.0 Premium was a Nov 2017 build date. I just settled with KMA on the Premium. Guess I have to start all over again with the GT2.

Yep October 17 gt micro blue here. But as I’ve said in thread looked at brand new 2018 built in last 4 months on showroom floor. They also have the bad paint . Bubbles all over the doors it a big problem. To fix they said all four doors have to come off and grind down redo to do it right. Fun fun

Exaggerated who told you that a dealer. It’s a brand new car with blistering. Yes it can be fixed but come on this sucks.

I’ve had lots of new cars in my life never have had paint blistering like this. I had 2 optimas never a paint issue. I like my kia’s. They will make it right but it’s just the hassle of it all.

I think they can try to make it right, but most likely won’t ever look the same as years go by.

That’s why I leased. I was going to buy later. But don’t know now.

I checked my 2019 GT Limited and I have 4 small ones on these seams as well. Paint feels rubbery or soft. I plan to apply a coat of clear coat over top of this seam on all 4 doors. Hopefully that will help prevent them from blistering.

My service manager took one look and told me to call Kia. Of course I could get another estimate to repaint more surfaces, but at this point I have the roof, hatch, add four doors and what is left... Just the bumpers and hood.

That's unfortunate. Do you plan to purchase a new Stinger then? Same color?
