Australian Cops Are Replacing Their Commodores And Falcons With The Kia Stinger GT

Lucky bastard... driving a Stinger for a steady paycheck.

Good promo for Kia... many articles popup... (ex. cnet)
As a new member I cannot post links unfortunately

Wonder if it will end up like the Dodge Charger in the US. People see the car and everyone around starts driving like a grandma because it might be a cop. Poor Aussie Stinger owners will never be able to speed again.

I know but our Stingers don’t look like that until they start doing undercover units

You can find the original article at caradvice.com.au I tried to post it last night but as a new member I can’t post links :( The word is Kia have been putting the Stinger up for evaluation to a number of Australian police forces but so far Queensland is the only one to sign up.

Love it.. says quite a bit about the car when a police force orders 50. Not a decision that’s made lightly.

Personally i don't like it, it kind of kills the uniqueness of the car, and even if it boosts sales, it ends up bringing the value of the car down along with any prestige.

^ Aussies look at cop cars a little differently.

Plus, the Stinger is in good company w/ the 530d (Victoria) and the 300 SRT also having been chosen as replacement vehicles.

IDK, the California Highway Patrol kinda made a legend out of the Mustang LX Sedan 5.0.

Let's see: Service weapon, taser, ammo clips, cuffs, flashlight, pepper spray, baton, phone, Narcan holster, etc...don't see the U.S adopting these if the officer can't close the door.

Agree unless they take the nice seats out, and rip the bolsters off or put their old Commodore seats in them. No way you can custom-set those seats to fit all the gear our cops carry. But then the Aussies don't carry firearms, do they?

Hope the handcuffed dudes in the back don’t leave dents in the upholstery!

Aarrgghh! Yes, maybe the LE versions have canvas seat covers.
