• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

Australia-Specific Kia Stinger Discussion

Oh ok, I’ve never used google traffic. Do you run it through CarPlay or just on the phone by itself? Wondering how it links in with the car or if it’s guessing where the car is and assuming it’s in the same spot as your phone.
I run it through the phone so it’s always on & I’m guessing once engaged through either Bluetooth or Appple CarPlay that’s where the link is made....again just an assumption.

Geez old man when will you learn to post gifs in the actual post instead of a link to the website with all the gifs? :p
How many times have I told you they won't load. On the rare occasion they do. Other times they say it's to big. And other wonder why they get picked on.

Is the dealership doing the rebadging for you? They’ll apply the protektiv before delivery, so ideally would be better to get the PPF applied before the protektiv, but may not be possible if you’re looking at after market PPF. The protektiv gives it a hydrophobic coating and makes it easier to wipe off bird shit etc, so ideally you want it to be the top coat. They could reapply it to the areas you get the PPF fitted to, but it’ll cost you for the respray. If you are going to get PPF try not to drive it much beforehand or see if they can do it before delivery. I got rock chips within the first week or two of having mine, you don’t want that happening before you get the PPF applied.
No the dealership doesn't do rebadging, so I want that done first, at the moment I'm waiting to get some info from an installer of Suntek. Suntek already has a ceramic coating in the film so depending on how much coverage depends if I will also require Protektiv. My hubby was asking about full wrap but when I heard back from Xpel they advised a full wrap for a Stinger will cost $7,000  I don't want to pay that much for paint protection.
Maybe I should do the full front and side mirrors and even rocker panels and cover the whole car with protektiv ?

You realise they’re two different things that do two different jobs don’t you? If you got paint protection/leather protection from the dealership, and your earlier post about buying the car indicates you did, then that will be the application of the protektiv which will be done before you pick the car up from the dealership. If they’re not doing the rebadging for you then the badges will go on after the protektiv. The protektiv gives the paint an extra gloss, makes it hydrophobic and easier to clean off bird shit, bugs, dirt etc. It doesn’t give you any protection against rock chips. I have it on my car and also have the rock chips.

The PPF is a plastic film applied to certain parts of the car which will give limited protection against rock chips. Regardless of the PPF having a ceramic coating in it, you’ll most likely only have it on the front end and bonnet which will mean the rest of the car will need to be ceramic coated or have some sort of protection applied unless you decide just to stick with factory paint.

You can do the protektiv with no PPF, but I wouldn’t advise doing PPF with no protektiv or some other form of paint protection.

Just remember that the PPF will leave a line of it doesn’t cover a full surface, have a look at the factory applied PPF on the lower rear doors to see what I mean.

Yeah been looking at the different options, hubby and I decided that we would stick with the hydro protektiv, the dealership advised after rebadging to bring it back and they would go over the badging areas again. Hubby reckons as we have had a good deal that if we keep paying $$ for more paint protection we may as well have Paid full price. Although I would have liked PPF, a car is a depreciating Asset unless you have a limited model or highly sort after vintage car you will not get back the same money on resale. Minimal cost for PPF(good PPF like Suntek or Xpel ) is over $2,000 and we have to pay for surgery for our son in a couple of months so he comes first.

The protektiv will protect your paint against contaminants just not rocks etc. Hubby makes a good point, there’s other things to spend your money on. Sorry to hear about your son, hope all will be good. I wouldn’t bother with a respray after rebadging if they’re going to charge you for it. For the small area the badge covers it’s not really worth the extra expense

$2k might as well respray the entire front end.

Actually that's what my hubby said. Over 2k is just for the minimal high impact areas on a car, full wrapping is over 5k
