Another Racechip review

Waiting to install my RC gts black hopefully tomorrow. Have stock plugs installed until my new ones arrive and get installed. Curious to hear what you DD the racechip in? Do you leave it in factory Sport mode? Or do you always bump it up to Race mode?

I concur with @Arnie War that I leave it in Race and then change driving modes on the car depending upon my mood. If you don’t own the RC XLR throttle response I highly recommend it. I can now drive in Eco or Sport and the throttle response feels like sport. This is the way the car should have come from the factory. If you put the XLR in Race+ it really does feel like a race car. No turbo lag what so ever. Car feels so jumpy off the line.

I agree with @Arnie War in that I leave RC GTS in Race mode and change the car’s driving mode depending upon my mood. If you don’t own the RC XLR throttle response I highly recommend it. Throttle response with the car in drive mode of Eco or Comfort feels like Sport. This is how the car should have come from the factory.

I don't have the throttle response. But, thank you for the insight. Wasn't sure if I should just leave the RC in Sport and the stinger in Sport. Knowing that I can leave the RC in race and the stinger in Sport (most of the time i leave it in sport anyway) is good to know. I usually leave the car in comfort if I'm sitting in traffic. Thanks!

This RC Chip truly works well for me personally ,and they have changed Maps for me when any concerns came up ,via the the App :) quick down load and off I went , now just to mention their

customer service , personally was the best of the best :) I am in no way attached to Race Chip but , I did contact RC support a few times for mapping concerns, as my upgrades changed with the bolt on s :) for the added cost of the phone App I had which I got from day one ☝️ ,
TBH it was a great choice and ,with a install of approximately 5 minutes well with it :) :) just make sure to use top tier gas ⛽️ and here in Kelowna B.C. Canada you might want to use a octane boost, I have installed A set of Denso 1 degree colder plugs as the stock plugs have been known to fail on the odd vehicle ,and that being said this 3.3 twin turbos when modded a bit, turns into a Beast mode, he he :) I have only one more Mod I might do just to finish off my Stinger GT ,and for that I have to wait until it passes the developer/tuners final approval :) On
another note , I will get my one and only crack at the Oliver BCs (Area 27 circuit track ),
on June 27 th just to have a bit of race track fun , it will funny seeing all the Beemers, Mercedes and perhaps some super cars flying bye and I will been in my Kia lol

Got around to installing my Race Chip GTS black this eveningapp works well, very simple. Kept the RC mode in efficiency and care mode on comfort-nothing majorly different in this set-up. (No peddle xlr). I switched the RC to sport and the stinger in sport and I just kept saying "daammn" while having a smirking grin on my face :D Butt dyno approved! The power from the low rpms into mid range just feel fanominal! Definitely glad the money was well spent and the wife ain't pissed, lol. Note: always using 93 top tier gas...stock plugs still...awaiting arrival of densos then going to get them gapped at .22 unless others think .24/.26 is just as fine.

It is a awesome performance chip and there are a few more great piggy back s in this forum:) I am waiting for a stage tune to get finally finished then perhaps I will stop with that for upgrades with 2 degree colder set of plugs to balance it out :)

While having the racechip in sport, I was curious to test out the custom mode today in the stinger with these options being chosen; powertrain:sport, steering:comfort, suspension:sport, & AWD:comfort.
I believe I was able to feel the same force/power as if the car was selected in sport mode. But, wasn't sure if maybe it was just me thinking it. Has anyone tried this?

This will be fast still and you are still able to use LC if you want. Powertrain = sport is the key part.

I guess I have tried pretty much every mode ,but I leave mine in Race mode and just Use the Eco with my Race mode on just to keep my Borla exhaust a bit more quiet when in the city limits he he

Great, thank you!

Just installed my GTS. Install wasn't too bad. I ended up using stick on velcro to keep the box affixed to the top of the fuse box top as shown in the installation instructions.

As recommended by someone else on here, I just keep the RC on map 7. Put the car in sport for the test drive, found a straight stretch of road with no traffic and I was at 100mph before I really noticed . Love the increased low end torque and it really pushes you into the seat :D

I have a GTS Black with bluetooth for sale. It is currently tuned for another car but RC will let you change cars twice. All you need is the stinger wire harness. My Stinger wire harness clip broke and RC sent me a new one for $30 but too bad I pitched the old one. Cheap, make offer
Clean solution, no random wires, no splicing. Just 3 plug and play connectors.

I have found the chip works well on the circuit track , but I will try the stage 2 flash if done by the middle of this August coming , but for those who want great low end torque with perhaps just a plug change to be safe the GTS chip works great just hit 14k on my Stinger and so far it works very well :)

P

i have used all the different settings on my Race Chip before and for now I leave it in Race mode and use only the Stinger eco to keep it more tame sounding in town :)

Arnie, are you adding octane booster in every tank or do you have access to high octane fuel in Kelowna? Just asking because you say you leave it in Race mode.

Had denso plugs installed at .24. Ran 3 dynojet pulls; 2 on map 5 (sport) with RC gts and 1 on map 7(race), with 93 octane w/ typhoon intakes. RC sport and stinger mode sport pushed about 440ftlb tq and 380whp. On race mode it bumped both to 468ftlb tq and 389whp. Not bad results!

Thanks for posting that, Blaster. Good results, but I'm a little surprised that the HP difference wasn't greater between Map 5 & Map 7. Perhaps higher octane fuel is required to really reap the benefits of Map 7.

Yeah, same. Have to try it out next time! Possible borla exhaust in the future to let er' breathe some more!

Yes I always add some octane boost to almost every tank just to make sure I am above 93 octane level and so far I have 14 k and the car runs truly great but on my September 9 track day , I will try to run at Octane level of 98 to 101 to see if I can pull a bit harder coming out of the corners as I have the heaviest car .I would be coming in over 4000 lbs , but on every day driving I try to make sure I run at least 93 Octane, I mostly use the Chevron station on Spall and 97 to re fill rated at 94 octane levels:) , as soon as I can :) I will have my plugs checked and re gapped from .024 down to .022 and see if it changes anything in power :)

Wow , my Awd Stinger GT , still only runs at 356.5 whp and it is off 94 octane gas ⛽️ lol

Tonkabob, about your spark ⚡️ plugs, how many degrees cooler are your plugs :??) my Denso plugs are 1 degree colder than stock :) as you are running on the flash tune :)
