Today I received a quote from local suspension repair shop for upgrading sways

Labor charges are 125 each for installation on front and rear but it also includes alignment which is $60 and ESC recalibration saying manufacture recommended for $35. Never heard of ESC recalibration. Thoughts?

Never heard of it either but also didn't think you needed an alignment if you did sway bars

Yep. I was sure as long as I am not touching struts I should not need alignment. ESC recalibration really shocked me as I didn't hear about it till now. Searched on google, found a tundra post where stability control recalibration was needed after lifting and different tires.

Also I thought after putting sways in I can ask them to check alignment (for free) and do it only if necessary (pay only in this case).

Scam. Walk.

I bet they offer a blinker fluid refresh for $99.99 too.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...

Rear sway installation is pretty well priced. If I can I would just do that.

For alignment, before doing it, I will ask for printed doc that says it is out of specs.

ESC calibration is an interesting thing as I had never heard of it and there are very few results for those.

I appreciate the price may be good for the sways..

But they are disreputable f tards.

Vote with your wallet.

Don’t reward there F’n Games.

Alignment is only needed if you install the sway bars incorrectly. ESC recalibration is BS no matter what.

One thing I learned is beat them in their own game. If you are losing you can always back out.

Thanks. Read a article where ESC reset was recommended after alignment. I assume ESC learns like ECU does, and it will be better to start from scratch, that might be motive behind this. Just discussing theory. Anyway I would never pay for alignment without them showing me it is out of specs on the machine.

Chyeaaaa, you don't even need an alignment. You're only taking the wheels off, and you don't need an alignment after every tire rotation, so there's zero reason why taking off the wheels and swapping the swaybar would need it, lol

ESC reset? Dafuq? This is why I do all my mods myself

EDIT: Grammar.

Just talked with them on phone. There reasoning was that they will need to drop the subframe. If they do that they will need to alignment. If they can do it without subframe the labor might be different. I was planning to do upgrade my self as well, but I do not have garage yet and as per few posts one of the bolt on rear might be tricky to get out.

Again, if you install it the wrong way, like dropping the subframe, you’ll need an alignment.

Sorry for causing confusion.

Those guys never did it on a Stinger before. So they made an wrong assumption. I was just explaining what they meant and why.

I do knew and understood frame drop is not necessary from youtube video and many posts on the forum.

I got another quote from guys that work on track cars, charging me $212 for both bars. Going with them.

Is still like them to explain the esc calibration shenanigans.

Sounds like it would be “pulling the negative battery lead” for 5 minutes. Still sounds like a lot of malarkey.

Depends how it saves long term data. Usually where shops need scan tool are high charges. I think it would be 2 min job with a tool.

If an alignment was made necessary by doing it wrong in the first place, they'd win on both; more expense for you. Dealerships' service departments are infamous for creating "necessary" work, i.e. scamming us. If added steps are "necessary", they're just making more money on work that isn't in fact necessary. Bar out, bar in; that's all there is to this.

That sounds like the best price I've heard of, by far, so far.

As per them it was "correct" and "manufacture recommended" way of doing it.

Yep, the other place quoted best price and they look legit from reviews.

Quoting just so info is out there for others to consider when receiving quotes.

$190 for both front and rear. Houston Performance Solutions. Both @JAYP and I have used them previously.
