Alignment and ESC calibration on sway upgrade

Quoting just so info is out there for others to consider when receiving quotes.

$190 for both front and rear. Houston Performance Solutions. Both @JAYP and I have used them previously.
Ooh, lower still. :D I like these kinds of contests.

I got another quote from guys that work on track cars, charging me $212 for both bars. Going with them.

Both sound like very good quotes. The front is really easy, the back, not so much with the fuel filler tubes. On that nut I could only get 1 click of the ratchet per swing due to the limited space.

I assume total time spent on this would be closer to 2 hours. It seems okay.

It cost me $0 to get them installed... I just did them myself over the weekend and will be working on a review post :D

Y'all pay people too much money for things o_O:rofl:

There are two kinds of people in this world: gearheads and everybody else. If you're a gearhead you wouldn't understand. And visa versa.

See? This is what I am talking about! :D

In truth, I do understand. It's generally between letting a "professional" handle it due to lack of self-confidence in the matter of DIY work, or because you have the money and have better things to do with your time.

The thing about me is: I don't want anybody touching my car unless they have to. My sister who could barely change a tire would rather do something herself IF she can simply because mechanics you pay generally treat your car like just another number. They are paid by how quickly they get your car in and out of there so that they can get to the next one, and I'm about to get to that in my Eibach swaybar review a bit... lol

The left side of the rear sway bar will defeat anyone lacking the right tool. And anyone having that angled adapter (whatever it's called) will have a pretty complete tool set; ergo, a gearhead. Nobody can do the sway bar without getting the car in the air and using that tool. I knew that, after watching the Tork video, even I could change out sway bars: given the proper venue and equipment. But I am NOT a gearhead.

I appreciate the ethic of not trusting mechanics. I don't want them touching my car unless absolutely necessary too. But I approach this from the beginning standpoint of not needing work done in the first place. Regular service/maintenance visits; fine. All else should be avoided like plague. And I include unnecessary mods. If you are a gearhead, mods are your sustenance. :D If you are just out for impressing people and you get your car modded by somebody else, you had better trust them with your life; because you are trusting them with the life of your car. Etc.

IT'S CALLED A U-JOINT OMG I CAN'T TAKE THE NON-CAR GUY TALK.

Um, the dealer did mine and they know what they are doing. It also does not void warranty if they do it. Not sure about every other countries warranty. 2 hours labour.

I would have done it on my car, but with car jack and jack stand and my tools I will have to spend a day out in hot summer. And I don't have other car if I need to get something.

Last time I was changing brakes on my old car, the rubber on slider pins was swollen, so I had to ride bike to the auto zone.

Currently I just look at trouble vs cost. I think 200 vs me spending 8 hours, is worth it.

I don't like anyone touching my car because I don't trust them. But shop I am going to seems like trustworthy from reviews by enthusiasts.

I would pay $200 to not have to do the rear sway again. Total pain in the ass. I've done all my own mods and that was the worst.
I had two goes at it. First round defeated. Ordered more tools and got it done. Not worth it. :)

Then you, my friend, haven't had to swap turbos, yet

I am pretty well-prepared when it comes to tools, but I thought that was normal for "guys":p

I have good tools but that rear sway is so tight my short 14mm socket was too short and my long 14mm socket was too long. You need mid length 14 mm socket.

It is normal. Just not that common. Half of my tools are collected from finding them on the road when I am bike riding. :P

Funny you say that: I ended up removing one of the bolts using a 1/2" 14mm socket, so I had a bigass socket wrench in there, lmao... It was just the right length as it stuck out into the wheel well enough without getting blocked by the swaybar.

Bike means motorcycle or bicycle? Language gaps
Bicycle. Yeah, didn't think of the possible confusion. I never ride motorcycles.
