Air Condition*

Did they replace the AC fluid for free or charge you? Magically my AC has been working ever since that one strange hiccup. Hopefully it doesn't go when I make my road trip later this summer.

The battery is bad on a two year old car? What is the warranty on the battery? Very strange...
I have had a couple vehicles that I purchased brand new where the battery went out in a couple years. One Ford and one GMC.
The aftermarket replacements are still good at 5+ years. I think they use crap batteries in new cars.

Interesting. I guess newer cars also have "crappier" paint and windshields than before? It's a shame. I guess it's because more and more people rarely keep their new rides for more than a few years and wash money down the drain. I need this Stinger to last a solid decade haha!

I hear you. If you sell millions of vehicles a year then saving a few dollars using cheap stuff adds up, all at our expense

Does AutoZone test for free? I thought Kia would replace a battery under their warranty if it is this early in the car? Funny enough the battery in my WRX lasted for five years! Can you believe that?!?!? :p
My stinger just passed one year old. Battery warranty is 100% for the first year and 50% for the second. They had the car on a charger and got it up to 61% capacity.

They did not charge me for refrigerant and blamed the factory for not topping it off.

My little battery maintainer/conditioner has still not brought the battery back to full charge after 18 hours. It charges at less than 1 volt.

I wired a plugin so I don't have to fool with clamps and fuse box lid.

Didn’t hear about a recall on an hvac fuse, there is for the hecu (hydraulic electronic control unit) fuse

Understood!

Good to hear!

UPDATE:

Car is now sitting at 10.3k miles or so.

The AC today magically shut off about fifteen minutes into a sixty minute trip. Thankfully it's been low 70's outside due to the heavy rain storms. I pulled over, turned the car off, and turned it back on. Still same problem. I clicked "auto" which normally blows so much cold air you'll freeze to death and nothing happened but a very loud struggling sound.

This is so strange. I have been driving since April 2021 with the same exact settings. I have not touched anything or changed any knobs or dials. This is the third or fourth time this problem has happened when the AC stops blowing air but sounds like it is struggling to breathe. Very annoying.

I am so cautious to bring it to the dealership. I doubt if it will be covered under warranty since the car has now been in my possession for almost half a year at this point.

Oh well.

Can be frustrating, with Kia ac it is hard to know if the compressor is ‘engaging’ because it is variable displacement and is always turning, but the return hose line should get cold

Why wouldn't you be covered under warranty? Was it purchased used?

Good luck to you.

I remember reading somewhere (was on this thread too) that the battery was only covered the first 12k/12months of ownership. I am not sure if AC is the same... I bought it new in 2020 so I should still be under 60k/5months for my bumper to bumper warranty correct? For the entire AC system? My issue is scheduling with Kia and having them actually fix the problem reliably instead of destroying the car.

Other than coolant, the A/C is covered by the bumper to bumper warranty.

Solid!! :D

But if the coolant is low due to a leak/defect then they should cover the coolant I would think...

Going to figure this out for sure!

Yes. That happened a few months ago and was reported here: some defect in the A/C resulted in coolant loss and Kia paid for it when they did the A/C repair. I wouldn't count on it though. :P If you're in the clutches of a stealership they will probably try to charge for anything they can.

Fantastic! :D Will see how this plays out... and just like magic yesterday on both drives it was working beautifully and this morning as well... so strange... didn't even touch or change anything...

This subject of "A/C not working" comes up rather frequently. The last time, a couple of months ago, it was during spring "transition": and I opined that the "Auto" A/C works best in summer and winter, when outside it is definitely one or the other. In mild or mid temperatures, the A/C is a bit schizophrenic, and might even seem to be blowing the wrong temperature on YOU, or not blowing when you think/feel it should. "Is this thing working or busted?" I tend to turn the whole thing OFF when the outside temperature is what I like, and open things.

Yeah I understand!

The issue is when it is in the 80's or 90's and humid I do not wanna open that window! :p

What puzzles me is I never mess with the settings or mess around with the controls and yet it magically (and yet rarely) stops working lol!!

That's just it: I would never turn the A/C OFF in the 80s or 90s: if "Auto A/C" is clearly failing to maintain a reasonably set temperature, say 79F, then something needs looking into.

Yeah!

You're smart that you don't finick or play with the settings. I don't touch them either. Even after a few more days the problem has magically gone away.

The last thing I want to happen is lose an entire day of bringing in my car to the dealership and then being told that they do not see anything wrong.
