Install done......
Was definitely a pain in the ass. Some of the decisions they made for this are head scratching. Why not have the rubber already attached so it doesn't feel like it's cobbled together? Also, why not have the gaps in the air box so the cross braces don't dig down into the rubber seal? Seems like that woulda been pretty easy to do. I also feel that air boxes are needlessly large. Probably coulda cut down on the size of the air box by 25%.
I love my AEM intakes but I agree the install was quite a pain in the ass. Mostly the oem hose clamps being difficult and like you said installing the rubber onto the shields which they could have easily done before shipping. No complaints since install and they sound great.

Other than scratching up my knuckles I found the install not to bad. Couple things I would have like to see done.
1. Nipples should have been installed in respective slots before shipping. I found mine got tight as I put them in and stopped at a point because I was afraid it was going to crack something.
2. Setup should have come with precut piping for connection to Blow Valves, so we didn't have to cut the OEM.

I agree on all of this. Nipples also should have been metal not plastic. Mine shipped without the 90° nipple. Good luck finding one in that odd ball size, 1/4 NPT to 5/8 hose Barb is very hard to find especially in a 90°.
I checked everywhere. Manufacturer finally sent the nipple after three weeks but they sent the straight one again, doh.
Another two weeks to get the proper piece.
Would have been nice if it was a more common 3/8 NPT to 5/8 hose Barb. Not sure why they used 1/4.
Install wasn't that difficult, but I bought oem bov hoses in case I want to go back to stock and they are too short. Really not that expensive.
Sounds great and loud. No real need for a true BOV with these intakes.
The instructions had me disconnect the negative on the battery. I am not sure what the reasoning is for as I didn't touch any of the electrical to complete the install. Is it just a common safety practice or is there another reason?
Thanks man installing mine in an hour and on my other cars I always disconnected because that’s what they say to do but with this being newer I was hoping the ecu would just learn and adjust for the extra air without disconnecting since it’s in the trunk under everything
I've disconnected the battery a couple times for major install work (like WMI) or simply to reset the ECU (seems to get rid of timing pulls in the jb4 logs), and never had to enter a radio code. About the only thing that reset was the mpg indicator which starts at 0, and some of the driver selection options need to be reset.
