360 Camera

Yes... I believe it depends on where you leave your mirror selector button...

You're probably right...

Just noticed my flag changed as I’m on holidays in Mexico... away from the new baby!

Awesome! Have fun! Where in Mexico are you? I haven't been there in years... I remember one time traveling to Riviera Maya on a bus (after arriving by plane). Part of the way down was a pretty rough neighborhood. There were people walking in the streets with machine guns. I thought to myself, "If this bus breaks down, we're dead". :p But I always had a great time there...

I believe this is correct. I read in another forum (about a different Kia with the 360s, of course) that the tilt-down feature is disabled when your mirror selector is set to the center (neutral/disabled). If you move it either side, it should auto-tilt in reverse. I don't know if there's a secondary control in the UVO settings, though. I wonder if this applies to the fold-in function too.

Right, I've had my cars work this way as well. It probably depends on where the mirror switch is set...

San Jose del Cabo... haven’t seen any Stingers around here yet...

I don't think I've ever been there. I used to hang around the east coast more often... So, no Stingers yet, huh? I wonder if they have the surround view camera option down there...

Oh they do... Everywhere but the US. But then again, we have the 10 year warranty no one else seems to have...and that US mph dash with Fahrenheit temp conversion. LOL

Warranty is definitely BIG. And we'll eventually get that camera... :)

The fold-in is another switch, but I'll need to check the mirror selector!

I think the same thing happened with the navigation screen. If I'm not mistaken, the initial batch went out with one screen and now newer ones having a nicer version. I think Australia has the first version and U.S./Canada has the newer one. I just wonder if the second batch in Australia will still have the older screen or the newer version...
Say WHAT???? Can someone explain the difference please? Already having a love/hate relationship with the satnav....

One is square with no glass screen. The other is trapezoidal with a glass screen

Confirmed today that the tilt-down works as expected when the mirror selector is set to left or right, regardless of 360 camera.

Singapore isn’t getting the 360 degree camera for both 2.0L and GT.

I have the 360 camera on my Infiniti and use it a lot. Very helpful. Kia made a mistake excluding it from US-spec cars. I'd prefer it to some of the other tech features Kia has put into the Stinger. Who makes these decisions and on what basis? Hard to imagine a focus group suggesting that a 360 camera wouldn't be missed, unless it consisted of people who had no idea what it was.

I'd agree with you, it was a poor decision. I would've understood making the HUD a later option vs the 360 camera.

There's no technical excuse for either choice being omitted. They are already engineered into the product, so it's either marketing BS (eg - withhold some features for future "enhancements"), or it's the bean counters keeping package costs down to stay near that apparently magical $50K mark. I have no idea why they couldn't just offer the missing features as non-package options, and let people decide for themselves what they want to pay. It also would be nice if KMA could explain the massive price discrepancy between US cars and Canadian cars, since that appears to make any profit margin theories look even worse for them.

While searching the interwebs for [random stuff], I came across this aftermarket Apple/Android system that connects directly to the factory head unit interfaces, and I noticed it mentions support for aftermarket 360 cams as well. There isn't much detail about the 360 cam solution itself, and I'm sure the cameras would be a clunky add-on, but reading about the system, and watching the YouTube clip, gave me hope that it wouldn't necessarily be that difficult to retrofit either an OEM or aftermarket solution, since it just seems to be using an available video input (much like a TV has inputs for cable, DVD, etc.).

Detailed page:

360 cam, limited detail:

YouTube, only first 1.5 mins relevant:

Short demo at 3m30s of connections (on a Lexus), aftermarket front camera, and Car Play:

Very interesting. I imagine it's only a matter of time before there's an option available to add surround view cameras to the Stinger in America...

I just added a second video to the original post that demos more of the connectivity and functionality. I'm not saying this particular product is the solution, but it certainly suggests that there could be a solution.
