360 Camera

If they have any kind of brains, they'll keep things the same for the second batch. If same model years are getting upgrades, they're going to piss off a lot of people.
Yeah, certainly, but I think the Australians would be just as angry to know they're the only ones with the less desirable screen. Then again, we're missing things like Surround View Camera and Wireless Charging here in the U.S...

Wouldn't be right if we were the only market getting screwed, ha.

Well, I guess when people complain we can always say that we got the better navigation screen. :P

Don’t forget Mexico.... they have the Canadian options too. Maybe if we were metric we would have these options too. Perhaps it was the added cost changing dash to MPH.
I doubt it we're metric and we don't get that stuff down here.

It's always the same story, they never give you everything with the new car you buy so they can charge you more for that same part later on if you want it. So some people will buy the car because it's a bit cheaper than it would be with a bit more accessories and those who want more will have to pay extra and this is win win situation for manufacturers. Sucks for customers but works for them.

I just talked to the fleet manager at Kia of Cerritos, CA. When he used the term "fully loaded," I stopped him and mentioned surround view. He said that in Stinger training, one of the sales reps asked about us not getting it, and they were told that we would probably be getting it 6 to 7 months down the line. I've learned to take everything I'm told with a grain of salt, but I offer this info--for what it's worth. It still doesn't explain why they would wait for a mid-year update, rather than including it from day one.

I'm hopeful for a potential 2019 Stinger refresh that isn't a full year away.

A recent USA Today article about the refreshed 2019 Sorento, if correct (insert grain of salt here), implies 2019 may start in the first 3 months of 2018.......

Saad Chehab, vice president of marketing communications for Kia Motors America, said the 2019 Sorento has "a capability that's unexpected with a crossover utility vehicle". Pairing that capability with seven seats in three rows as standard on all five trim levels and plenty of technology, should make the 2019 Sorento, which will be available in the first quarter of next year, stand out in an increasingly crowded field of SUVs, Chehab said.

Getting surround view camera "six to seven months down the line" sounds a lot like 2019 models hitting showrooms in maybe August'ish... I mean - we KNOW they're not going to start adding features to the 2018 Stinger when the new model year is about to be launched. So we may very well be looking at a 360 degree camera for the 2019 Stinger. I wonder if they feel there's going to be a need for added features to make up for the "it's not a brand new, shiny object anymore" feeling. I bet we'll see Qi wireless charging, heated rear seats and more as well...

Does anyone know if the Stinger at least has this feature that the Sorento has?

Reverse Tilt-Down Outside Mirrors
You can program your outside mirrors to tilt down while you reverse, giving you a better view of what surrounds your Sorento.

Note: The Sorento also has the 360° SVM available, so it's ironic that they use "surround" to describe the functional, but still lesser mirror-tilt feature. It's not listed on the Stinger features page, so I fully expect this irony to extend to the Stinger, when it likely turns out not to have either "surround" feature.

Answered in GT2 review from @Johnnyfive...
The side mirrors are very nice, and tilt down while in reverse to help see (still wish we had that 360 camera though).

I still wish we had the 360 cam, as I would feel more confident pulling into a spot if I could see the curb. Almost makes me want to be that guy that backs into every spot so I can at least have the mirrors and backup camera.

Nothing wrong with that!

While I always say I don't mind not having the surround view camera, I'd probably use it every day. It's going to be one of those things where once I have it, I cannot live without it. I'm one of those people who park far away and as close to the curb as I can get. I HATE dings. I prefer wheel rash over dings. But with the 360 degree camera, I'd never have to worry about that...

I agree totally. I rarely have to parallel park by a curb--afterall, it is SoCal, "paved Paradise," plenty of parking lots--but when I do, I've been lowering my right side mirror to guage curbs for ages. But I just think a 360º cam should be standard on any car with limited visibility, even though I know that in reality I could do without it (since I've lived all these years without even a rearview cam).

It was either a very silly mistake or a very bad decision. The car does have some visibility issues due to the design so it really would have been helpful...

Does anybody with the 360 camera seem to have the tilt down function? I haven't noticed mine doing that, but I kind of wish they did.
Yes... I believe it depends on where you leave your mirror selector button...

Got my Gt yesterday. Down here we get the 360 cam, its a must, just trying to get through my narrow driveway gates without them would have been impossible. And suttung low because im tall the bonnet becomes obtrusive as is the rear vision mirror.

I believe this is correct. I read in another forum (about a different Kia with the 360s, of course) that the tilt-down feature is disabled when your mirror selector is set to the center (neutral/disabled). If you move it either side, it should auto-tilt in reverse. I don't know if there's a secondary control in the UVO settings, though. I wonder if this applies to the fold-in function too.
