Kia Stinger GTS

not to be a downer , but I'm completely underwhelmed by this Edition ..................there was so much more they could have done to make it really special , I like the color and the mechanical upgrades , but they should have done HP/Torgue upgrades , tranny , wheels /tires , suspension ,bi modal exhaust , body kits ( CF is so yesterday imho ) am I alone ??

Well, I have my opinion (don't we all)..

I think this might be them "testing to water" as to whether adding a more performance-oriented version would be worthwhile in the future. Throw a few accessories and the "new" AWD LSD on an existing model, give it some bling, and see if it sells.

I personally wouldn't buy this - I don't want an orange car, I don't need the LSD for my enjoyment in the hills. I *would* be interested in a higher performance model with a bi-modal exhaust, but not if I was limited to this color - very pretty, but I prefer stealth.

Agreed - more stealth (or normal models), but with LSD / better shifting, I'm there for $2-3K more. Performance can come from an ECU tune. Much harder to add hardware / TCU tuning through the aftermarket - been there with my '05 LGT.

Drifting? Why not play rap at the same time on that "better" premium sound system? "Premium" is the HK surround sound, not some other sound system.

I'm guessing the c. $44K starting price does not include such, or the moonroof, or navigation. But the more expensively priced Limited has all of those. But it has to be giving up something in order to be priced lower than a GT2.

I love the orange. Wrap mine, I might ...

Not sure how you can determine HUD or surround view from that pic. The HUD would not be visible from that angle, and the infotainment display is the same as my GT2 which has every option including NAV.

That said, at that price point, it must be missing some of them.
No surround view based off the fact that there are only 3 buttons between the heated/cooled seats when you have surround there are 4 buttons.

Sure can't tell if there is a HUD or not but I doubt they would have left that off the listing while mentioning the other options plus I could see HUD + Surround making up the difference between the GTS and the GT2 in price.

So the idea of a drift mode is kind of silly to me, sure sounds cool, but how often are you really going to use something like that?

This is what we want. An "R" version with a "track mode" with a stiffer suspension, gear holding, and upgraded sways, improved rotors/pads to resist fading, a power bump, a bi-modal exhaust, lightweight forged wheels, and some cosmetic tweaks. That would be cake but I don't see it happening.

How much do you think all that would cost? This is an 800 unit run. They didn't do the things they did because those are the most popular things that they could stuff into a special edition. They did it because those were the things that were feasible for an 800 unit run that doesn't end up costing more than a GT2. Given the sales volumes on these cars, it's *highly* unlikely there will be any mechanical changes for a single model. They're already swallowing a ton of margin in factory incentives just to move units and hit production volumes for their lines.

Honestly, sometimes the detachment of car enthusiast communities from the realities of the car industry is astounding.

Did they fix the nav systems!
I think it’s just a test bed for future models.
Most of the stuff on it is available after market. My car has LSD and RWD so I’m in drift mode all the time. Not a fan of Alcantara and carbon fibre.

I would have thought externally different wheels, spoiler, splitter, rear window diffuser, ltd edition decal badging would have been a start.

The video mentions Federation orange so that confirms it as being the same colour as the Sema vehicle me thinks.

I've already planted the seed with my salesman. See if I can trade in my '18 Micra Blue with 3k miles for one of these.

an 800 unit production has more than enough efficiencies to add the type of "missing elements" that would have made this a truly LIMITED Edition , and it would not be expensive to do $2500 incremental cost would likely cover it , and they could charge $5K more ( think MSport )..................... ..............o_O:whistle::thumbup: . Kia have committed to continue production of the K900 .................volumes /production efficiencies ??

I was all game, texted my sales guy. It's based off a GT1, though a few of the GT2 options like the shifter, etc. The hood is new, all CF under that orange paint so much lighter.

I'd rather have KIA sells us a Performance Pack Upgrade for $5,000 that takes my 2018 GT2 AWD and turns it into a "GTS"

That, I would spend money on. I've been driving my AWD in RWD mode for the past few weeks and I've got to say, would love to have a more "integrated" drive mode like the GTS

If it's a variant based off the GT1, then why is the MSRP cheaper than the GT1. For MY19 GT1 starts $46K, but a 2020 GTS starts at $44K?

I couldn't tell ya. Maybe it's a base GT? We only have speculation here.

As in taking the fuse out?

Albert is developing all the stuff I mentioned for the N sub brand at Hyundai ........................
Is that true? What N trim Hyundai model is getting a more powerful version of the 3.6tt, a new (superior?) AWD transmission, and better suspension for a car as heavy as the Stinger? Are they doing a G70/G80 N?

Man i love the orange color... if this comes out in a year or so i'd consider it. Especially if it is GT1 AWD... that would be cheaper than my GT2 AWD
