Kia Stinger Buyers In The U.S. Got These Cool Headphones

They are just dumping on everybody. Except me, so far.
May I join you in lonely misery? Mid March and badass so far either. I was thinking of calling the number from earlier in the thread... Have you done so?

I have a case number for my promotion since yesterday. I called the regular Kia customer service number, described my reason for the call, and was transferred to "premium service" department; the guy gave me the case number and said my case was being forwarded to marketing, which has the info on these promotions.

In case anyone else has the same problem reading the manual, here is a link to what looks to be the unbranded version.

Cheers

Received my headphones yesterday. Good quality and the noise canceling is great.

I wouldn't be too upset.. I mean, personally, why on earth would I want a set of freaking headphones? Especially such bulky ones. This is another example of assuming "average" fits everyone. I rarely listen to music, and never "radio" or "tv", so these would likely be put back into whatever packaging they were sent in, and take up more space on the shelf of useless crap. It also implies that I chose to pay another few thousand for my car so I could have some supposed-elite sticker on my already overly complicated (and expensive) air-conditioning system interface.

Call me a curmudgeon, but does that mean I should now acquiesce and start walking around with a lump of branded steel on my head to look like all the cool kids?
You do not seem to be a happy Stinger owner....

He did not give me a case number but forwarded my information. He said it was 10,000-not the first 15k we have read.

Seriously. Just from reading that paragraph, I can already sense that you are definitely not someone most people want to be around.

They're here! Amazing! :D I was out on the front porch talking with my wife, and lo and behold a FedEx truck pulls up. And it can only be one thing. And he hands me my box of stuff. I didn't ever see a notice on my FedEx web account "warning" me that anything was on the way. Maybe Kia is too fast? I put in my request to not be forgotten on the list of early buyers, and got my case number, and was going to call again later today if I had no updated info joy: but before I could manage to plan, my headphones arrive. They are definitely the real deal. I won't bother to post any pics because that would be duplication of effort.

Now, the question: How do I make these things work in my car? I don't have a "real" smartphone. I have a ZTE Tracfone. It has Bluetooth or else I wouldn't be able to pair it with my car. But all I get when I turn the car on and my cell phone on and the headphones on is a flashing blue light by the On/Off button on the headphones, which means the headphones are pairing for the first time. Except, nothing happens.

So, I called the number provided earlier in this post and spoke to Jennifer. She couldn't find my name on the list and mentioned that they only shipped the first 6,000 units. She says they have a bunch more that still need to be shipped. I asked her if she was getting a lot of calls on this subject and she said "she" was. Probably because the number we are calling is her direct line. Anyway, she said she would speak to her supervisor and call me back regarding when my shipment would be arriving. I explained that I leased my Stinger back in February. She also mentioned that she really wasn't sure at first how much information she should be releasing because she thought this was supposed to be a "surprise" to Stinger owners.

Surprise! Yeah, until the first receivers gloat all over the Net. Hah! It reaches even to Oz, where the news is ill received. Go figure. I wonder about people's thinking sometimes. How could this be a "surprise" after the first half dozen of them arrived? :p

Hang in there. Yours are probably coming within hours/days. Yesterday I was a nobody. Today I am the happy gift receiver.

Just received mine this afternoon. Here a couple of pic. Tried them out quickly. To my 65 year old ears, they don't sound to bad. Listening to loud rock music in my youth (young and stupid versus old and grumpy now) did't help.

I got mine yesterday. Out of the blue, wasn't expecting anything. They are nice. Cool.

Too bad my car doesn't have the actual Harman Kardone stereo. Maybe I can wear these while I drive to listen to some quality sound! The factory stereo is pathetic. I thought I'd be okay with it, but it truly sucks.

That's an honest if dire opinion. Most owners with the 9 speaker system (factory) are saying it sounds great.

You might not get to listen to tunes in the car with them unless the source is your cell phone. I haven't found a way to pair my Bluetooth headphones with my Bluetooth car. So, no standard radio or USB sourced music for me, so far. (see next post of mine)

Hi all, I spent an hour with my tech savvy son, and we decided that the Harman Kardon headphones do not pair with the car. The Bluetooth capacity of the car is solely for cell phones, not headphones. The pairing worked with my cell phone and his cell phone. But we could never get the headphones to show up in a list of devices to pair with. :( It seems ironic that a free gift of HK headphones, with "Stinger" and "Kia" on them, do not actually pick up through the car's sound system. What would happen: lawsuit time because the ANC blocked out the police siren pursuing you? Causing an accident? I guess ANC is a bad idea in a car? Well, the headphones do work spiffy with music coming from any smartphone; just not directly via the car's sound system. I cannot listen to my USB sourced music on these. And that annoys me because my wife takes issue with nearly all of the music I want to listen to. "Can we have something with less bass, please?" It is getting to be an oft repeated request. *SIGH!* I could listen to what I want and she could have silence. But no.

As a general statement, most cars are set up so that the bluetooth stack profile for music only receives data for audio play back. The bluetooth stack profile for use with phone is bi-directional. In may states it is illegal to drive while listening to headphones....

You can't pair Bluetooth headphones to your car stereo. Think of it as trying to connect one speaker to another and wondering why there's no music playing...neither one is the source of the sound.

Also, driving with headphones on or earbuds in is an ill advised safety risk.

Paired mine with the Dish TV receiver. Sound was great but was not in sync with the TV sound. Acted like it takes more time to get to the bluetooth device. Anyone know if there is an adjustment for this?

Same thing happened to me Mr Wizard! Nothing on FedEx account saying package in transit. So I called Kia this morning as I posted above. Lo and behold I get home and wife shows me a package from Kia. They are charging at the moment but I'll check them out later. Will have to decide if they match my Nose headphones.

PS I did call Kia back to ignore the request from this morning. :)

They are charging at the moment
Mysterious little things. The "LED" light color (by the on/off toggle) indicates low battery, charging in progress or charging complete with either a slow on and off red light, a steady red light, or no light at all, respectively. I guess mine are fully charged already? I see no light, except the tiny triangular one pointing to the plugged in charging cord.
