What did you pay for your Kia Stinger?

Bought a GT2 AWD in Oklahoma City for $46000. Apparently the dealer gets a kick back from KIA Finance, so I was "forced" to finance, then immediately paid it off. This incurred an additional interest fee of $150, so there is my total cost. Micro Blue with gray interior.
Andy, which dealer did you buy from? I am returning from overseas to Edmund and looking at a GT AWD and I hate hassle

Hey guys, long time lurker (hopefully soon stinger owner)
I've been reading this thread and have a few questions for the lease/purchase.
I'm in Texas if it means anything, possibly bad math incoming...

My dealer has a sticker on the GT2 AWD I want that says "$10,000 of MSRP" and they said its lease cash. but I think if i dont tell them im leasing upfront they will beat that. They quoted me $47,000 for the car today and I'm wondering if once i have that price i can introduce the lease option, for a total of $6,500 + $5,395 = $11,895.
Here are the numbers I've come up with and I'm just not sure I'm doing this correctly

MSRP - $52,395
Dealer quote $47,000
Lease cash -$6,500 (kia website)
Trade in ~ $3,000
This would equal $37,500

Kias website says "Total lease charge is $23,083", Is this off MSRP? So it would leave the balance of $29,312? Would my buyout be $8,188?

I'm confused because the lease terms per Kias website say "Residual value of the vehicle at the end of the lease term is $27,196". This is leaves a $2,116 difference that's just ...missing...

I would finance the rest of the balance after buyout and i understand i would pay taxes somewhere in this equation but not sure where.

Or am I just way off the mark on all of this.

For one thing, I think your double counting the factory rebate. Most likely it's built into the dealer pricing of $47,000. Lease charges are depreciation, cost of money, fee's etc.... The residual is the est. value at the end of the 3 yr lease. Yea, I think your off mark on your calculation.

The $47,000 number they are quoting you probably includes the $2,000 cash rebate that Kia gives for financing through them. That’s what you would get if you financed instead of leased. I only say that because $47k is just over 10% off the car, and that’s about the best I’ve seen anyone do on one. Dealer adds may skew things, but I’m guessing there is going to be $2k that disappears if you don’t take a loan from Kia on that deal.

It also depends on the trade. Did you tell them you want to trade in a car and get the $3k trade offer from them? That complicates things and makes it very difficult to compare against other deals. The dealer may be reducing the price of the car and planning on getting some back from the trade side.

You could try what you’re thinking and just see what happens, but if they shut you down with the $2k financing cash disappearance then maybe pivot and tell them you will buy it today for $10k off MSRP including the doc fee and lease origination fee. That would put another $850-1050 back in your pocket (assuming $200-$400 doc fee). That would put you around $4500 off MSRP before doc and origination and probably a good deal (again, with the reservations about dealer adds and trade value). They might go for that if they really want to sell the car and they think you are serious about buying right then. People have been able to get down to 10% off MSRP + lease cash, but in practice you will probably waste a lot of time trying to get there. 8%-ish (before doc and lease origination fee) will be somewhat easier to achieve. If the MSRP is inflated with dealer adds and you’re working from that then it’s anybody’s guess.

Best of luck!

First post!

For my lease, I got $439/month (taxes and fees rolled in), 12k/yr with nothing down for a base Stinger with RWD. I am waiting for credit approval. Thoughts?

I live in NY, btw.

I'm also from NY, Albany area. I just leased a base Stinger with AWD on Memorial Day weekend with $1700 down and $348/month. Depending on your credit, I think you should be able to get a better deal by shopping around a bit more. Best of luck!

Stinger Premium w/Driver Assist ($40,000 MSRP) for $30,650 out the door after Kia's $6,500 balloon financing cash rebate (that number does not include tax/registration but does include all dealer doc fees etc). These cars must be one of the greatest new car deals ever right now. I bought it after a quick test drive because I thought it was a great value for the money, but after driving it around a bit I think it is just a great car period. So cool.

@StingEm That deal is incredible!

I got a Premium 2.0 in California for $35k out the door (including dealer/transport fees). I thought that was good! I didn't lease or balloon or get any rebates at all, though. I just put money down and financed at 0.9%. I purchased in May and wasn't offered any rebates, unfortunately.

Finally did it, brought home a brand new Stinger GT2, ceramic silver with red interior; remote start installed. Loving the car so far!
MSRP $53,369... negotiated to $48,804. paid cash... (via a balloon rebate from KF that added an additional $6500 discount, which I will pay off in full with first bill Aug. 1).

So basically, out the door for $46,400 flat with all sales tax and all fees included!
I feel really good about it!

Welcome aboard! Based on the price sounds like an AWD car. Great color combo! There’s another forum thread for intros do another post there and enjoy your new ride, you will, IMHO!

Thanks for the welcome, and yes, it is a AWD. Really enjoying it, was in the market for an Audi A5 Sportsback, but once I drove the Stinger and looked at pricing, the choice was easy! The dealer let me use one for a whole day before making my choice.

The price for my GT2 AWD was 52000 CAD, (around 39,500 USD) with no rebate.

GT2 AWD loaded, High Chroma Red.
Sticker Was $53578 - Lease after rebates was $42540 + Tax, Title and License

Ceramic Silver GT.
MSRP- 39,305
Less-2628 dealer discount
Less-4800 Kia rebate
Total before TTL and registration was 31,877.

I am ecstatic about the car and dealer also tinted it for me. For the price, there is not a better car on the road!!

I did the balloon finance option and plan on paying the car off in a couple weeks. Hat tip to all posters who chimed in with that option. Thanks for all the help, the information I have gained on this thread had been terrific.

What are your monthly payments? What did you put down? Looking to lease one in 6 months and want to start seeing what the leases are like although I know they could change. Thank you

I went with this deal... Well kinda.
They gave me about $11k off the sticker (6500 was with the balloon finance program that's like a lease, but it's not and you can treat like any traditional loan).

They also gave me an amazing trade on my old Chrysler 300c. Everyone else wouldn't go passed $8k, Kia gave me $10k.
Between us and the forum walls, that car needs alot of work....

Anyway, I came out the door paying only $32k ($42 for the car -trade).
But the balloon loan has to remain in effect for 3 months before I can pay it off!!
IMO a great way to get an additional $6500 discount!!

Congrats. I ended up just working on a flat sales price. Got the GT2 awd to 48k, with trade in 3.5k (I felt robbed). Ttl was about 3.5k so out the door 48 ish. Placed 12k down and financed the rest at 0.9%. I’m very happy with my purchase.

I am however driving the car ungodly safe because the gas mileage is a bigger shock than anything. I understand you pay for the power at the pump, but it’s taking a bit to get used to it.

The biggest factor in gas milage is how you drive and where you drive. My overall mileage is 25 mpg and if I'm on a trip/highway, it's 30 mpg. 3.3T.

AWD and speed limits of 75 (so naturally we all go 80-85) and I’m rocking 24ish in eco.

The Stinger is rated at 25 highway so that should not have been a surprise. I'm only saying if you drive within the law, you can get pretty reasonable mileage for a 365 hp engine.
