Please update the firmware so that drive mode is maintained on restart

My biggest annoyance with the Stinger is that each time I restart the car, I have to flick through the drive modes to get to my custom setting. The car should remember your chosen drive mode, or at least allow the option to remember it.

My preferred setting is "custom" with everything set to "comfort" except steering feel--which is set to "sport"--and I have the cheesy fake engine noises disabled. Each time I turn on the car, I think "why does the engine sound like that, and what's wrong with the steering? Oh, right, I have to change the drive mode...again..."

I think the argument was made they had to do this to meet gov't fuel economy standards, but other manufactures do allow the car to store driver's settings. In my wife's Volvo we can customize the drive settings to each individual driver and program them to each key so that when I get in it automatically adjusts my seats, mirrors, drive modes, infotainment settings, digital dash settings, mood lights, driver safety tech preferences, and about a hundred other things. I don't have to push a single a button. It would take a half hour of me flipping through menus otherwise.

Maybe with the refresh or next redesign Kia will up their game with more luxury conveniences and other missing features.

The rembered settings by key is handy. Not sure Kia is to that point yet.

Damn car only remembers comfort and Eco...so it's not unattainable to program it to remember sport and custom I'd think.

Yeah, that key thing sounds pretty snazzy indeed, although no one else is going to be driving my Stinger.

It should be incredibly simple for Kia to add a "keep this drive mode on restart" option, even if just for the custom setting.

so I'm not the only being driven crazy by this. Only remembering comfort and Eco mode rendered custom mode useless for me, really wish they would update to allow saving the drive mode, I don't think there's any regulation that made them skip program this, plenty of cars will remember last mode used.

Have(had) the same issue with Audi. Both the A6 (which I turned in the same day I got the Stinger) and Q7 default to Audi's "Drive" mode. I prefer the "Sport" mode. I asked the Audi dealer how to set it to default to Sport mode and they said it couldn't be done - have to change it every time. Whether or not that is related to fuel economy issues...

How did you do that? All Custom allows is a minimized engine noise, not "disabled". And I can't really tell any difference between the "choices" anyway.

I don't see the beef myself. Two clicks to get to Custom. Big deal.

All kidding aside, she like fast cars, and so far she likes the Stinger, but hasn't yet driven it, even though I have held out my hand with the key and offered it to her.

Thats Funny...my wife is the same way. Has never driven "our" E46 M3 nor Stinger!

You could always make one your "red" key...

For our overseas members... a roo is a kangaroo. They make big dents in cars if you hit them.

That’s interesting about your Audi’s,my 2013 SQ5 doesn’t do that. Whatever I set it to is what it stays set at unles I actually change it via drive select. Mines always set on invidual(normal engine,steering,gearbox and Dynamic exhaust). Pity there isn’t a program like VAGCOM then you might be able to make your own changes to the Stingers settings.

My hunch is that b/c your's was 2013. The A6 was 2016 (returned at lease end and got the Stinger), and the Q7 is 2017 model year, with about 10 months left on the lease.
