Borla Exhaust for Kia Stinger

I agree there is likely only one Borla setup. As I mentioned I was an early adopter and the box it came in actually said "For sale only through Stingerhaus" but when Peguin ordered his, that was not on the package but the model number was the same. It is unlikely if there were two different models that they would have the same model number. I think the dealer Stingerhaus model is probably likely to also contain the carbon tips at some point which would make the cost a lot higher. Jimb is getting exactly the opposite info from his Kia Dealer... I think that is where the confusion is coming from. Not sure what is included in their package but it cost about $1600 installed.

Not meaning to challenge your dealer but you may want to contact Borla directly about their being two systems. The one I bought in early March from Borla directly had "Sell Through Stingerhaus Only" on the box but had the same model number as Peguin had on his when he purchased it a few weeks later... Also you could run it by Fiesta Kia... He is also on the forum and has purchased some units he was selling at around $1300 before Borla started selling them directly to the public online. The price has dropped in the last few weeks with Importshark here in the forum significantly since early March... I believe it can now be purchased for under $1k I believe. High average to install should be about $250 from a muffler shop. If your dealer isn't including tips they are about $450 high on their price. Hold on to your old system system parts too...they will be worth alot later if people purchase aftermarket parts that they cant live with and want to switch back to stock at some point.

I love the sound as I accelerate hard and as it moves through the gears. But I have pretty much come to the same conclusions as you after the past few weeks driving with the Borla Exhaust. I like the sound especially when you are slowing down. That kind of low rumble is pretty cool and seems to be getting more significant as time goes by. (Could be I am just noticing it more as time goes by I guess). But as you said this exhaust can be loud as you are accelerating and is fairly loud at speeds over 65 while under load. I agree. I have been checking into various ideas on how to minimize the low brrrrrr at higher speed that you describe...It is not exactly a drone in that it does not cause the interior to vibrate, it is more like you describe.... a low brrrrrr sound that can be somewhat controlled by how aggressively or how subtly you use the gas pedal. Some people online have suggested placing some insulation batting in the rear under the hatchback floor and under the spare tire. I may give that a shot at some point to see if it has any impact on the low brrrrr sound. The stuff is cheep and easy to remove if it doesn't actually work too well...is worth a shot... If not I may look into adding a resonator to calm it down a bit... that's the hard part.... finding the perfect compromise when not many people have experimented with all this yet.

Seems to me like Las Vegas Kia is adding a nice "margin" for ordering/installing the part for you. Given another post has stated the tips will be an additional $1100 i highly doubt they would be included at $1600 installed from a dealer. Just my thought. I suppose if they were, it would be a good deal.

I am also certain the both Sarge and Penguin posted pics of their boxes with same part numbers. Would not make sense, logistically speaking, to have same exact part numbers but difference parts. That would make for a tracking and shipping and inventory nightmare.

I like the idea of the batting in the under hatch area. I feel it may also help with heat transfer into the cab and battery area. It gets rather hot in AZ and just ambient heat from being parked can cause that underside to increase dramatically.

I for one love the way this exhaust sound on video and can only hope someone in Phoenix will get one soon so that i can hear it in person. Im waiting to see if the carbon tips are included anywhere at a reasonable price so can hold out a bit longer.

Yes my stinger friends there is only one borla exhaust for the stinger. Just put mine on last week it is awesome.ordered chip last night From racechip will let you guys know how it does in few weeks.

Exhaust was 1300 from borla. The first 3 months you could only get from dealer through stingerhaus. So I just waited. 200 to put on at shop.is anybody pissed they bought gt1 or gt2. People are finding out that the fastest model is the plain gt rwd and lightest.so if you are on budget and for all out speed gt is the way to go.I myself did not want the extra weight from all the other extra stuff sunroof,awd,all that just adds weight.

Agreed about the extra weight...., but like many in the frozen Northland I had to make a compromise . Rear wheel drive only would leave the car sitting in the garage for about 5 months a year LOL ...not ideal for a daily driver!

Know it get it for people where there is snow and ice.I am in Florida so I new it was rear wheel or bust for me.gt are running mind 12 in quarter mile compared to low 13 for all wheel. Those few 10ths don’t sound like a lot but in a race they are many car behind.

I got my borla installed for $75 flat. I'd look around if they want over $200. It only took an hour and a half too. Don't know how much of that time was actually work and how much was waiting around.

I gotta say, I've started to love the sound. Especially with the windows down and the sunroof open. Still hating the interior sound otherwise though. If you do try that method. Let me know how it works. I'll have a 1700mile drive back home in the summer. And I feel the brrrr might get to me after about 3 or 4 hours.

Oh and that video posted earlier with the sema borla exhaust by the straight pipe guys. I can say with 100% certainty, that is how my exhaust sounds. Borla direct = stingerhaus exhaust.

Very curious on this too. Any chance you have an IR Temp gun and can check temps in the area before and after the batting is put in? I think add such could be a twofold benefit...reduce cabin noise and reduce heat soak into the tire/battery area.

Oh I know...i am looking for more is all. Ever notice the "HOT" stickers all over the bay where the battery and spare are. Must get pretty damn hot for them to put a warning sticker in there!

I think xforce has a universal EVC that fits “many” different exhaust systems. Maybe you can add their EVC to the Borla? I’d call them to find out. The EVC is the main reason I am still leaning Jun BL

I have ordered the Polyphonic exhaust and hope it is there this weekend. I'll post pics and try to get a good sound sample for you. The CF tips aren't available yet and will probably me another month according to Rick Strauss at Stinger Haus.

As for the discrepancy with one or two different Borla exhausts, I will call Borla tomorrow again to verify. THEY are the ones who directed me to Stinger Haus for the Borla Polyphonic version.This is the email:

All this confusion. Why did Kia make everything so complicated. First the dealership troubles now this. If you developed something with the intention of selling it directly at dealerships. It shouldn't be this hard or confusing. It's a good thing I love the car so much or id swear off of Kia for life.

Hmm...if you go to the Borla page on Polyphonic exhausts there is a link for 2018 Kia Stinger "S" Type now where there wasn't when I contacted Borla. If you go to the Borla 2018 Stinger page the exhaust is listed as an "S" Type with no mention of Polyphonic technology. Am am now switching my stance on this issue(no, I am not a politician) and going with the One-Borla Exhaust Camp. I did just email Borla and ask for clarification. I wonder if Stinger Haus couldn't sell enough units so they took his exclusivity rights away? If that's the case I will order from Mike at Importshark, however, I am still waiting for notice that my other order has finally shipped first.
