What did you do to your Kia Stinger today?

So glad I still have a big box van for hauling stuff. But Stinger's liftback and longer cabin is one main reason I decided to buy a second Stinger, rather than a second G70.

I use the truck for that task as well but I store the Lightning in the winter so then all the potential hauling duties fall to the Stinger. I actually prefer taking stuff out the back of the Stinger compared to using the wife's Grand Cherokee. The Stinger is lower which makes it easier imo.

New shoes have arrived!

I did take 4 road bikes (of the pedal kind) to the shop with 2 on top, 2 inside and all of my cycling gear.

So today did an oil change and tire rotation, and with the wheels off, I was finally able to install my wife's B-day present to me: RokBlokz!

Forgive the unwashedness and bad cell photos.

Picked up a pair of pre-painted roof molding to continue my two toned stormtrooper theme. Came directly from Korea

Nothing too exciting , but for me, a good day.
Took the Stinger to my local Hyundai dealer for my spring oil and filter change.
The car has spent the better part of 3 months in hibernation.
I did take it out and run it periodically when the roads were clear, so I wasn't too worried about letting it sit.
I went to the Hyundai dealer as it is 5 minutes away. The closest Kia dealer is about 20 minutes.
People complain about car dealerships, but these guys were great. Service advisor was very interested in the car, as he has a BMW and wanted to compare specs.
I also requested that once the car was up on the hoist, that I wanted to see it up close and scout out the undercarriage.
I wanted to see where everything was, and how to do a future oil change on my own, if possible.
The young tech was very enthusiastic as well. More than happy to take the time to point everything out.
I think part of it was that they don't see Stingers in the shop, so more than one guy was over checking it out.
I also brought a sandwich bag for the old filter to take home.
The car looked pristine underneath, and solid as heck. Kia did a good job.
Very happy today.

If you are going to be doing your own oil changes, I recommend a quick change valve

And cutting in a quick access port.
Has made my last ~10 oil changes exceedingly simple.

This is very cool. I didn't know that you could get the drip rails/gutters in high gloss piano black like that.

"Picked up", what did you do, order directly through the dealer parts department or from some other source? How much did it cost?

Ima interested in this because on both the Micro Blue and Silky Silver, the finish on these parts is showing the ubiquitous weathering patterns that so many have complained about. And I think that high gloss black is a good cosmetic modification instead of trying to match the body color. Or am I just making this difficult? Are all of the factory colors available for these parts prepainted?

I got them from here and it looks like they have them available in several factory colors.

The color I got is the black pearl like factory. You can see the flake shimmer in it

Fair enough question. Two reasons. One, I'm just curious as to how good/bad it looks. Check for debris etc.
The main reason though is to assure that the oil filter change actually gets done.
Most dealers don't allow you into the shop to watch any work being done.
I've been burned in the past for oil changes that weren't actually done. One was at an Indie shop many years ago when I was young and stupid.
Second was at a Ford dealer where I had them dead to rights (they never admitted it), and possibly once at a Nissan dealership in Florida when I was on vacation, although I've never been able to prove it.
Asking for the filter back forces them to either change it, or dig around in their garbage for a used filter.
If it comes back in the bag, and it's still warm, then I'm Ok.

Fair enough. I fully support having a STRONG suspicious attitude towards dealerships, or any mechanic, until you can build a trusting relationship - fraud exists..

For sure re: fraud. I'm a senior, and I deal with everything now with a big dose of skepticism and suspicion.
I guess I'm a grumpy old man now, but I don't trust anyone anymore. Life has taught me that there is always someone out there trying to
take advantage of you....and it's getting worse by the day. As a senior, I realize I'm even more of a target.

all the more reason to do it yourself, besides the fact that you don't need an appointment, don't have to drive anywhere and wait, and know its done right. Master Techs don't do oil changes, usually its some high school kid.

after using an oil extractor for last couple oil changes, i got annoyed with it and got a Valvomax quick drain system to install next oil change. i've had them on other cars and they work great. will also be cutting the under tray and making a "quick access" trap door for the drain plug.

Interesting, temporarily very frustrating job today.

I put these OEM mudguards on my first Stinger several years ago, at around 33,000 miles - had started to see "sandblasting" in the paint behind the rear wheels. That is with wider wheels in the rear, 9.5", plus less offset, pushing the outer tread out enough to poke at the bottom where the fender tucks in. Since I am planning on moving those lighter wheels over to the 2019 2.0L in the months ahead, I got ready now with the mudguards.

Everything went better than the first time, except for the inside pop clips underneath in front. As you can see, there is a pair of them - the rear only has one clip. The frustration was the inside clip. It would not push in. I even tried using the jack from the hatch. Nothing doing. The clip simply won't push in. The jack would destroy/mash the clip before it ever popped into place.

This annoyance did not manifest when I put these front mudguards on the GT1 back in April of 2020.

I have no idea what is interfering with the rivet hole. Maybe it's just this particular vehicle. I found a work around and don't care now. As you can see, I used the Philips clip that was intended to go in the upper spot where the screw is. I can only guess that since KIA changed the part number for the front mudguards, that the mounting hole has changed on later model years, to a clip instead of the screw, probably from '22 on. Anyway, I screwed the mudguard on by using the screw that was already there, which left the Philips tipped clips free to use on the bottom in place of the pop clips that will not pop.

KiaPartsNow.com rocks. They had the lowest price delivered to my door, $100.01, and in under a week.

I bought my CPO 2018 GT in Jan 2020. It has 110,000 miles and still drives like the first day. I try to do a mod every 3-4 months to keep the car feeling fresh. I just ordered the Tork TCU Stage 1 and will install it in a few weeks. Later this year I might swap out my open diff to a lsd. Here's a list of what I've done to the car so far.

lap3 1.5 with jb4 map6 on 93 octane
HKS M45iL spark plugs
rfs 1.9 with dws06 tires
eibach front and rear sway bars
mbrp pro catback exhaust
velossatech snorkels
magnum flow 5r drop in filters
stage 1 tork tcu tune

led fog lights
carbon fiber spoiler
carbon fiber exhaust tips
carbon fiber rain guard
carbon fiber style door handles
E emblem
satin black wrapped hood
bms strut brace
35% tint all around

aftermarket front and rear speakers
paddle shifter
interior govee lights
suede center rest
carbon fiber door overlay
tuxmats
wireless android auto
