3.3TT Kia Stinger Aftermarket Exhaust Information and Discussion

Yes the factory fake exhaust rings were removed. I had a muffler shop do it for me but i saw him taking it apart and it was kinda a pain to reach the screws on the top area from what i saw. You basically have to remove them to fit any tips. Definitely worth it. I wouldn't want the exhaust sounds to bounce back into the rear bumper area causing bad drone.

ECE/EGE approval system from Bastuck, Germany, which means its fully legal in Europe.

Bought from: aterituningDOOOOThu/sportkipufogo/tobb-darabbol-allo-tuning-kipufogo-rendszer/bastuck-kia-stinger-3-3i-v6-biturbo-allithato-szeleppel-kozep-es-veg--tuning-sportkipufogo-rendszer-309191

I'd honestly say Its not even comparable to MBRP, It's way better. Service guys said It's very close to akropovic quality, but definitely does not surpass It, atleast in the way of instructual design and maybe materials wise.
No drone sounds on the fully kitted exhaust, I'm also not sure If the guys who installed It were pros enough, as they said they made sure It's properly installed in all certain points, plus I asked them to hide the button internally to the fuse box, and I never press It since It's enabled. The bluetooth remote works well too.

I wanted the bastuck, but I couldn't find anyone on this side of the atlantic selling it.

any chance somebody can give a real world opinion of the valved MBRP vs Borla exhaust for the 22?
I realize there's all kinds of video clips but sound clips are worthless as far as I'm concerned, it's never like real life.
I previously had a JUN BL which IMO was not impressive at all, but since wrecked that car so I want a new one for my current stinger.
But I need the valves so I can have a quiet mode.

Obviously goals are very quiet in quiet mode and very loud, but not rattle can sounding in loud mode.

Maybe in your case you can keep the OBM catback and go catless secondary downpipes with HFC primaries

I was one of the first persons to install MBRP on a 22. Easy install. The valve definitely makes a difference. It's a noticeable difference from OEM. I like the sound I get in sport. Not overly loud in the neighborhood but certainly sounds nice when you mash the accelerator on the highway. I have had he "adaptive sound" turned off since I installed MBRP.

I will say the one thing I found annoying was the drone. The pipes only go about 1 inch into the OEM chrome decorative oval pieces. Immediately after install I was like, WTF? I searched, and still do periodically, for oval tips to help move the sound further out from under the car. Unfortunately I haven't found an option I like which would maintain the oval appearance. In the end I decided to powder coat the chrome tips gloss black and add 2.5 inch extensions to the MBRP pipes. I didn't want them sticking so far out that they exceeded the length of the tip. This helped significantly reduce drone at RPM below 2100 and above 2400, but not entirely. At 85MPH the RPM sits around 2100. 3 inches probably would have been better. But it was an initial guess. I'll probably try 3 inches soon to see what happens, I've just sort of become used to it and as a result lazy in changing the pipe length.

cool, thanks for the opinion.
I actually just pulled the trigger on the Borla because I already had the JUN and was bummed at how underwhelming it was so I wanted to go with one I "guessed" would be louder. It actually arrived tuesday and I'm planning on putting it on this weekend. Plus the JUN BL valve system stopped working reliably in less than 2 years which pissed me off and the Borla, like yours, uses the factory system which is way better.
I guess I'll have to consider tips too then. I was actually wondering if you can attach tips without removing the mufflers again. Like is there room to get in there to tighten down on a clamp or however they are attached?
I'm hoping in quiet mode it's very quiet. I have no idea how the inside of their muffler is designed

I find myself in the exact same situation, care to share some details on the extensions used?

This what I used. I didn't know exactly how long I wanted to extend the pipe so I purchased 4 of these and cut them to the length I wanted. Once cut I used a dremmel to de-burr them on each end and hammered them into the MBRP pipe. No need to clamp. They fit tight enough so I didn't need one.

The pipes I cut for use closest to the centerline of the car are slightly shorter than the ones closest to the outside of the car. Initially I didn't realize this so I had to recut the "centerline" extensions. This is because of the MBRP design. The MBRP pipes are staggered such that the centerline pipes are slightly longer than the ones on the outside. T0 accommodate for that I made my extensions which attached to the outside pips slightly longer so that all 4 result on the exhaust lengths being equal.

Much appreciated! I will likely try this before anything else.

I could send you one?
One came to Australia and is currently fitted

For 2022+ stingers i use these oval exhaust tips that look great and fit well. Mbrp is 2.5 inch inlet and borla is 2.25 inch inlet. I am about to switch from the borla active to mbrp pro active this thursday and will post a review or comparison i guess once ive had it for a while. Probably give it a good week or two to get my impressions. I also have the ark downpipes. The tips make a huge difference in drone. Get way less sound in cabin as well with valves closed using my borla active currently.

Tips:

I've installed an MBRP pro catback on a 2017 model. Despite having centered the outlets and trying to move them back as much as possible, I have an absolutely unbearable dull noise between 1500 and 2100 rpm, especially under load. I already had it slightly with the original exhaust. I suppose that only changing the outlets can remedy it as I red here.

This may have been common knowledge already, but I found that the 2022+ Borla valved exhaust can pop on manual upshift from 1st to 2nd gear. You have to be manually shifting in Spot mode with all the nannies (TSC and ESC) turned off. That will allow the car to hit redline and get the pop. If you let the car shift by iselft it will never hit redline deep enough for the pop.

I did a quick video demonstrating it, with windows open. You'll hear it on my upshift in the 4 to 5 second mark. I don't have any other mods, all stock. This may be possible with the stock exhaust, I never tried it. It may work on other aftermarket exhausts as well.

Also did a video of a tunnel acceleration, with windows open. This was letting the car shift, so no popping.
