3.3TT Kia Stinger Aftermarket Exhaust Information and Discussion

Is Jun BL going to develop an exhaust to work with the 22-23 Stinger active valve system?
We actually have a 212+ Jun Bl EVC Exhaust listed on the site already. You can check it out (HERE). Let me know if you have any questions about it or if you would like a discount on your order. :)

Good morning all,

Wonder if anyone can help me with exhaust/EML problem.... Ive got a 2019 3.3GTS and its fitted with Jun B.L downpipes. The problem ive got is the EML keeps coming on with an exhaust error! I have a plug in pc to clear the error but it keeps on coming back. Anyone else experienced this or know how to get rid of it permenantly?? Many thanks in advance.

Appolgies if this is the wrong thread or if its posted elsewhere but couldnt find anything on it.

I have an exhaust leak between my mid-pipes and cat-back. Mid-pipes are from Ultimate Performance (combo pack) and cat-back is from Stillen. I messaged Stillen about specific gaskets, but the customer service guy said I could just buy two from any local parts store, assuming I buy the right size, as opposed to having them shipped from them (I'm in Canada, so shipping/duty costs are always a pain). I'm not an expert on compatibility, but does this sound reasonable? He sent two photos of measurements for reference. I just attached one since they're rather large, lol

They might hang out a bit but should do the job. Would recommend cleaning both faces thoroughly and putting Permatex Exhaust RTV on both sides of the gasket, then assemble.

Yeah, exhaust gaskets are a dime a dozen. That looks like a standard 2.5" ID. I've bought these a couple of years ago for an exhaust project: Amazon.com HYCC 2-Bolt 2.5'' High Temperature Exhaust Gasket Turbo Downpipe-2 Pack It's not available right now, but it has pics with dimensions for your reference against your pic above. Plenty of other sellers, online or locally, that should stock these.

It has been great! I just purchased a set of Ark downpipes and will be putting those on this week.
You going to love the ark downpipes :D Initially it's pretty loud but once it breaks in it will tone down a bit. I have it with the borla catback.

It literally a straight pipe. What's in there for breaking in?

This is almost too sad to admit but I got home from vacation and the Ark Downpipes were waiting on me to install. After much studying, reading the forums, and having to buy a few other items in preparation for the install I was ready! Got out there this morning and unpacked the box and the hardware to double check everything was indeed there and then I jacked up the car and had it all safely secured. (*note that I paid Kia to install my Borla Catback exhaust and another garage to install my Eibach lowering springs so this was the first time under the car.) When I was able to safely crawl under the vehicle I realized the previous owner of the vehicle had already installed aftermarket downpipes!! Unable to tell what brand but it looks identical to the ARK ones. I boxed everything back up like it was received and have already requested a Return Authorization Number. Makes since why mine already sounded like all the YouTube sound videos after I installed the Borla Catback. BUT the way I look at it, at the end of the day and even after I incur the restocking and shipping fee (which is completely understandable since it was not the distributors fault) I have the downpipes I was wanting already installed, I was able to recheck the torque on all the existing exhaust bolts, my day was now free to knock out some other stuff and now after I return these it is time for the next mod purchase!!

I just got the borla active valve catback installed on my 23 GT2 (with ark downpipe installed already). So far first day experience I must say I am really pleased with the new exhaust. The tips lined up really well on right side but left side was a bit off but I'll most likely get that hopefully addressed when I get bigger tips in a few weeks once it has broken in anyway.

It's an interesting experience for me since I previously had the borla 18-21 non-valved version installed. Here are some early observations I'd like to share:

- Drone in comfort mode definitely is less than what I had before driving on the freeway/roads with tips again so this is a big plus and big reason I changed. I can definitely tell this new version is less drone inducing overall in all RPM's. Very pleased!
- This new version has a more deeper refined sound and is just as loud. Remember I've only had it for a day so it will get louder probably which is a plus to me.
- Very nice throaty sound similar to the 18-21 if not bit louder more fined, and can hear it more in the lower RPMs.
- Less raspy than the 18-21 version. I immediately could tell the difference.
- The valves work based on pressure with hard the throttle is pressed basically. In comfort mode one valve is closed unless you are going hard on throttle which is ideally how i'd like to see an exhaust system work anyway.
- The sound difference in comfort mode and sport/custom is very noticeable as well which I am sure most owners would love to have.
- Left muffler didn't line up too well with the exists but this might change once system gets broken in and also when I get bigger tips put on in 2 weeks or so when they arrive and I'll take it to another muffler shop since the one I've been going to is going out of business next week.
- My valve connections had to be cleaned up since it wasn't clicking into the connector. Then it worked fine.

I will report back once the new catback has broken in a bit more in a week or two most likely. So far a big plus. Very impressed and really glad I got the newer system. Highly recommended if you have 22+ stinger. I really would also pair this with ark/june bl downpipe as it will make it really shine. It wakes it up and it sounds super aggressive!

Time to sell my previous 18-21 borla catback now.

I would say the car sounds better with just a muffler delete but keep the resonators.

I finally got my two different exhaust tips and will see next week which one will fit better on my 23 GT2.
Left one is 4.5in. (115mm) and right one is 5in. (130MM). Currently have 4 inches and its too small. I have to get my left muffler adjusted to fit the tips better as well. Next thursday going to muffler shop so we'll see.

Also getting wireless valve controller hardness setup. It plugs into the stock wiring and lets you overwrite the valve control to keep them open all the way or turn off to return to factory settings. Brilliant simple plugin device on amazon. What's good is that when you turn the car off and back on it remembers the configuration. At least that's what I read about from other stinger owners who didn't just want to unplug the valve controller to leave the valves open. Kind of defeats the purpose of the valved exhaust.

For anyone interested: Amazon.com

I also made a video driving on the freeway to show how the drone is with ark downpipe on the new borla active valve catback:

Finally completed my exhaust journey today! Got the 4.5 inch tips put on to fill the gap better. 5 inches was going to rub most likely and i didnt want it to cause issue.

I also got the wireless valve controller installed. I took a short video:

Here is the valve controller on amazon:

APR MS100170 Exhaust Valve Remote Amazon.com

It will work with the mbrp pro as well. Really handy when you want control. I didnt want the valve to close on cold starts. I like to annoy my neighbors! It plugs into your existing wiring, super simple. The kit comes with another blank connector so you can seal off the other factory valve connection to not get damaged. The active valve system in stock only opens partially when you are using throttle and fully when you are gunning it. Well i wanted to be able to control it so it stays fully open.

Anyways hope this might interest someone. Of course this for 2022+ stingers only.

Hello fellow stingers! :D I took another video driving on the freeway showing the difference between open and closed valves on the freeway and streets. This is recorded with my phone (S22 ultra) so might not have the clearest to real life audio compared to a gopro stuck on the rear trunk but its fairly close! Also my general take on the borla active catback. Exhaust is a very subjective mod so everyone will have different opinions on what they like. Remember it's your money, your car. You can do whatever your heart desires.

Also some street driving:

Hope these videos help some stinger owners get an idea of what setups there are. I am just happy we have a good number of options and are not forced to have to stick to a open non-valved option because there are many times I honestly just want a quiter exhaust like when there is presence of law enforcement or I just want a chill drive and listen to music bit more with less drone. Finally I can enjoy my car now with how I wanted it to be like for a long time. Always happy to answer any questions!

I think people always go the DP as it actually helps performance, increases power and helps it sound better where as a cat back is expensive and only affects the noise

In Australia a exhaust + installation is nearly $4-5k :(

Did you remove the factory trim on those openings for the exhaust tips? How difficult was that? Thanks.
