I have a weired problem after the recall work done on my 2020 gt2 rwd. The brake became very hard to press if the car is parked for 2 days continuously. Looks like booster vacuum issue or the hose from booster to intake manifold is broken during the recall work. Dealer is not taking any responsibility. Kia corporate is silent on this. Today I realized, at the end of the day it is still KIA.

Just had mine done yesterday at Kia Garden Grove. I noticed the recall notification on the Kia app, scheduled the appointment on 5/11 and was also advised that they didn’t have the part but would order it. I didn’t understand why they wouldn’t have the part on hand as it was scheduled in advanced. It was rescheduled for 5/18.

Advisor estimated the time to be 3.5 hours, and meanwhile told me that another Stinger had recently came in for the recall and unfortunately the tech that handled it blew out the hose and now the owner is out of a car for 3 months as the part is on national back order. I appreciated the transparency but i was reluctant to leave me car as you can imagine. He assured me that a seasoned tech would handle the job and would update me throughout the day. I regrettably decided to wait at the dealer. After 5+ hours my car was ready ….but was told that during the process of replacing the hose there was an incident and my windshield had a small stress crack.

Without question as I’m sure anybody would be, I was upset, hearing that my car had been damaged and would have to deal with getting it fixed. Kept my cool as he assured me that they would cover all costs associated and not limited to the ceramic tint, and ceramic coating that I had done on the car. I wanted to look at the car before it being released back to me. Upon inspection (as the service advisor did not look at it before notifying me the car was ready) the so-called small stress crack was not so small. It was big and very noticeable . It started from the bottom and extended all the way to edge of windshield from the driver side. Something they did not mention was the damage on the lining of the hood, it looked like it was scrapped . Upsetting to say the least, I made sure this was all documented on the account and the service done that day… considering the liability of driving the car back home, they also couldn’t provide me with a rental until Monday. But to make long story short, the recall was done but with the inconvenience of a cracked windshield and damage to the hood. Great! now to get this repaired.

Hope others have better luck with the recall.
This is the exact reason why I am hesitant to even get this done until I know there is an issue with the oil feed pipe.

I'm not feeling great about getting this done but I have limited opportunities to get to a dealer (Genesis G70 3.3T). The recall kit is apparently on a backorder and many of the Genesis dealers have a large backlog queue of cars to service. I scheduled my appt. back a few months and is set for Sept. 23rd, they have my recall kit waiting along w/ a reserved loaner since I'm coming from 800 miles away. This dealer (Las Vegas, NV) is doing 2 recalls per day so I hope & pray they've figured this process out by now. Hopefully they can get it done the day I drop it off so I'll have a few days in Las Vegas to make sure there's no issues prior to my drive back home. The reason I'm not backing out of this recall is it may be an even bigger nightmare if something were to happen w/ this oil line and I need to get to a dealer ASAP, or future scheduling problems if I wait for another appt.

I have the exact same issue since my recall was done. Never connected the two before I read this. Once the car starts everything seems normal. The dealership that did mine is a nightmare to deal with, so if you find a definitive cause please update here.

Yeah, our nearest dealer is 440 miles away, we head out to Vegas 3-4x a year so it was "on the way" lol.

I'm gong to wait on this as mine is a 2023 GT2 I got from my local dealer exactly a year ago. No recalls on kia connect app or in the mail yet. I will have to verify they will not drop the motor to do this. That is a red flag to me if they need to. I don't want some newbie tech work on my car coming back missing pieces all over and having new set of problems. That's one nightmare I'd like to avoid at all cost.
No matter what they have to fix it. If they mess it up its on them.

this is the brake booster or a vacuum line that didn't get properly reconnected after the recall.
 
Got my Genesis G70 back from Genesis of Las Vegas today for the oil line recall, seemed to do a good job, all plastic engine bay panels are back w/ no clips missing, engine bay is clean and all fluids are at the proper level. Gave me a nice new G70 3.3 loaner and took about the time that was predicted by my service writer. Dropped off Monday AM, picked up around noon on Tuesday. Hopefully the recalls are getting easier for the dealers as they get more done, some of the issues that have been posted are quite worrisome.
 
After our 800 mile drive home checked my fluids again this morning, oil level is at the full mark but coolant was at the low line of the tank, topped it off so should be fine now, just assumed it still needed some burping along the way, which should have been done at the shop but??? At any rate, car drove fine, no problems w/ coolant temps or any oil or coolant smell in the motor area.

First initial take in was for oil change and recall of the oil feed pipe and hose assy. Was told the car would be available in 3 days. On the 5th day I called to ask a status and was told it would be ready on the 6th day at 4pm. I received a call that same day (5th day) a few hours after being told it wouldn't be ready until the next day that it was done, and the ppwk said no MPI was conducted. Came and picked it up that same day and drove home. The very next day oil pressure light popped. More frequent over the next few days. EVERYWHERE online stated an ~4 hour repair; not a 6 day repair. That was with an official appointment set as well, not a drop off. Oil pressure light was more and more prevalent each day. Car was brought back to the dealer as a drop off, and within the same day the oil pressure sensor was cleaned and stated issue was fixed. Not even a day went by and the light came back on. Car was brought back as a drop off and after 2 days I was sent an auto-reply to spend almost $2,000 for a sensor replacement. Car had never seen an issue with the oil pressure light prior to this recall service.

Nightmare stuff. Ima still waiting on this one. I checked the visual condition of my turbo oil feed pipe and heat shroud, with the car in the air and shining a light up in there. It looked new still, at over six years old. Stories like yours will make me wait until, or unless, I start seeing first evidence that I have an oil drip. In over six years, my car has not shown a single drop of fluids other than AC condensation on occasion. And I will not do this recall when nothing is wrong. It's not as if the danger is explosively fast, it takes time for this to be a potential hazard, plenty of time to notice oil drops on the carport or even further in, smoke starting to show up under the hood.

I don't know what kind of guidance that is, since you are already dealing with a crap experience. Maybe contact KIA Corp. and share your experience with them, to hopefully avoid any expense whatsoever over repairs stemming from the recall work.

Thanks Snicklefritz. It's been a nightmare, and no one there is doing anything about it. If I would have read your guidance 3 weeks ago, I never would have brought it in there. Car was purring before all this mess, even at 98k miles. Ughhh

What is an MPI?

I'm guessing, multi-point inspection?

Did the paperwork specify that inspection was not performed, or did the paperwork simply not specify that an inspection was performed?

Not really sure what the inspection would have to do with this case anyway, it's not like oil pressure is something that would be inspected normally anyway.

The ppwk said no MPI (yes multi point inspection). I typed up a play-by-play to send to the dealership of their timeline and all the issues. So I was lazy in posting this to the thread and just copied and pasted. The MPI doesn't have anything to do with the recall or anything.

Just basically showing a timeline to them and how they did a shotty rush job is all.
