3.3T Turbo Oil Feed Line Recall 2024

The ppwk said no MPI (yes multi point inspection). I typed up a play-by-play to send to the dealership of their timeline and all the issues. So I was lazy in posting this to the thread and just copied and pasted. The MPI doesn't have anything to do with the recall or anything.

Just basically showing a timeline to them and how they did a shotty rush job is all.
@Snicklefritz is right.

This is nightmare stuff...

Hopefully this situation gets sorted in a favourable fashion, favourable for you.

That's rough there, and having to pony up $2k for a "new" repair to a vehicle that was running fine prior to them "fixing" it. Advice about taking it up the corporate ladder sounds solid. As far as the 6 day timeline, they may have just put your car in the repair queue and it took 6 days to get down the line. My Genesis oil line recall was done overnight, a Monday AM dropoff and was ready Tuesday at noon. All has been good for 2000 miles since except they didn't fully burp the coolant so had to top it off a couple times, seems to have stabilized now.

Hope this turns out better for you and they eat that $2k charge they're wanting, sounds like it's on them.

the oil pressure sensor was cleaned and stated issue was fixed.
Cleaning the oil pressure sensor, isn't a thing.

They would have to remove it to "clean it", and by that point, you would obviously replace it rather than clean it.

It's a quick simple job for a good mechanic to swap the oil pressure sensor. If not covered under warranty, definitely do NOT pay dealership prices for that.

There is a video here of a guy modifying a wrench to minimize the labour required to change the oil pressure sensor.

Hi all, just had my 21 Stinger in for the recall in the UK last week, was worried they wouldn't have worked on many as they're pretty rare over here but to my surprise there were a fair few sitting in the car park and the dealer said they've done plenty since the recall was announced.

They had the car for the day and all seemed fine over the weekend but I've noticed a water sloshing noise from behind the dash when moving off now so assume there's air in the cooling system. No overheating or odd blower behavior though.

My question to anyone who's had similar issues is, does this trapped air work its way out over time to eradicate the sloshing or do I need to commit to a trip back to the dealership for a burp?

it does, eventually. keep an eye on your reservoir tank level, it will go down, several times. I tried burping my cooling system and it still kept swallowing coolant for a few days.

Yep, we live 800 miles from the dealer that did our recall, when we got home it was down to the low mark (it was at the high mark when I left the dealer). Topped it off, took another 1600 mile trip and it was back down to the low mark, topped it off again and it's been fine since.

Where did you open the cooling system to "burp" it?

Lisle Radiator Filler

start with a cold car, replace the radiator cap with this setup and some coolant. run the car, turn heater to max on both sides, and let car and system run until cabin is getting full heat and the cooling fan cycles a few times. I ran it for about 20 mins. Then turn off the car, plug the funnel, take it off, and replace the radiator cap.

It really is a shame that the dealership doesn't do the job properly.

Took my car back to the dealer for the sloshing noise after the recall, it took them 2 days to come back to me (the Kia connect app tells me they found time for 2 80 mph joy rides in that time) and say they didn't know what the problem was but the coolant was low and they've topped it up.

No sloshing noise anymore but 24 hrs later I check my coolant level and this is what I find...

Won't be driving the car again until I've had chance to grab some coolant and top up myself, no chance that garage is ever getting my business again.

At least if it's that low I'm hoping it means the air in the system has worked its way out now.

Expert trained alleged Kia specialists... Nice.

Just to be sure myself, aren't you supposed to top up both? How is the coolant level in the radiator while your overflow is empty?

The advice I've seen is whenever topping up coolant always add to the overflow.

In the past it's always sat dead on at the min line when cold and exactly at the full line when hot. My plan was the top it up to the min line and keep an eye on it for the next few heat cycles. I'm open to advice if this isn't the wisest of plans though?

So, you didn't open the radiator cap for a looksee? On the rare occasion when adding coolant to the overflow, I automatically pull the radiator cap too. It has always been all the way up, which you would expect if there is still fluid in the overflow. Yours looks empty, so, I'd be looking at the radiator too.

That's a good call, can't hurt to open it up for a look when I top up to be on the safe side. It looks like there's a small amount left right at the bottom of the overflow so hoping its be a 2 min job but that could just be remnants trapped at the base.

Evening all! New here. Glad to be in the group. Having a hell of a time with my dealership based on this recall, and looking for some guidance. Below is a play-by-play of what I'm dealing with, any advice would be appreciated!

*note: I haven't confirmed whether they dropped the engine for the repair yet or not

First initial take in was for oil change and recall of the oil feed pipe and hose assy. Was told the car would be available in 3 days. On the 5th day I called to ask a status and was told it would be ready on the 6th day at 4pm. I received a call that same day (5th day) a few hours after being told it wouldn't be ready until the next day that it was done, and the ppwk said no MPI was conducted. Came and picked it up that same day and drove home. The very next day oil pressure light popped. More frequent over the next few days. EVERYWHERE online stated an ~4 hour repair; not a 6 day repair. That was with an official appointment set as well, not a drop off. Oil pressure light was more and more prevalent each day. Car was brought back to the dealer as a drop off, and within the same day the oil pressure sensor was cleaned and stated issue was fixed. Not even a day went by and the light came back on. Car was brought back as a drop off and after 2 days I was sent an auto-reply to spend almost $2,000 for a sensor replacement. Car had never seen an issue with the oil pressure light prior to this recall service.
Literally the same exact situation I’m in currently (reason for making an account on this website), just dropped my gt1 off today because of an oil light blinking. I had the recall fixed and oil changed 3 days prior to the oil light. I did have the MPI done after the recall fix, no faults. The service tech at kia hung up on me today when i was arguing there’s no way that sensor breaks 3 days after they work on it. Not sure what todo now other than take the car to a trusted mechanic. I definitely should have done some research before going through with it.

Not laughing at you, but I am laughing at the absolute absurdity of them stating "we cleaned the oil pressure sensor"... Cleaned what? The plastic connector?

The level of lip service/lies a dealer will say

If your car is out of warranty, yup, that's about the only course of action at this point.

The oil pressure switch/sensor doesn't really have anything to do with the he turbo oil feed pipe recall.

It would be wise (in my opinion) to confirm it's actually a defective oil pressure switch/sensor and not an actual oil pressure issue.

There is an oil pressure access port here, but thus far, it seems that nobody has connected a gauge to it. (And I have read the entire internet, or most of it?)

dude. i believe you.
