Anybody know of an alternative to the ck71 Daytime Running Lights?

The manufacturer of the CK71 sets used only high quality parts. For the LEDs, Diode Dynamics. I'm surprised to hear of the issues. I wonder if the eBay version will hold up better/longer. I'm highly confident the sets on eBay are using inferior parts - but I could be wrong.

Hey, we could trade lol. my passenger is dead and my drivers is running fine for 1yr now. I have my original dead set still and am debating buying the ebay ones or to try tearing it apart and replacing the switchback led strip.
It isn't worth the effort. I basically had to destroy mine to get the LED strip out.

High quality parts, yes, but an inferior packaging solution. It is literally a modified vent grill with a slathering of RTV that still allows water ingress.

Right, I was gonna say it's not the LEDs it's the housing that clearly is suspect and let's water in.

If I knew that another set of these would not have the same issue, I'd be all over them. eBay ones are the way to go now.

What sucks is that the eBay ones are a fraction of the cost. So people that paid $400 basically got screwed. Luckily most of the money for mine were in the form of K8 store gift cards but that's still money wasted for a part that is not working. I'm honestly surprised the passenger side is still working fine, was hoping that side would just quit so at least it doesn't look like I have a light out on the front.
I just recently snipped the power wires going to mine for now. I couldnt stand it looking like there was something wrong with the lights so I'd rather just have them both off.

Figured out why mine failed and leaked, the sealant used broke down and was falling apart on the top where the wires connect.1000007514.webp

Mine actually have water sloshing around inside the light itself.

I got my first pair in September 2022 and they ended up getting water in them with very little driving. Car wasn't even driven in the winter so that was a big disappointment considering how much I avoid for the. The connectors also suffered moisture ingress and the contacts ended up getting corroded.

Chris sent out a replacement set last year and they've been ok so far but this time I added some PRC aircraft fuel tank sealant to the back (had some extra lying around) to try and avoid this from happening again. Also made sure to encapsulate the connectors to avoid corrosion in there again as well.

If they sh#t the bed again I'll either make my own with my original vents or try some from eBay. Not spending that $$ for another set that may or may not fail again.

Anyone know if the eBay ones work with 2022+ stinger? The description says 2019-2020 and I know the wiring is a bit different on the newer models. Appreciate if anyone has any insight.

So I'm sure I've mentioned this before in this thread or maybe the main CK71 thread, I'm an idiot when it comes to wiring, I paid to have these installed in my car. My question is, since I still have the CK71s connected, if I buy these eBay ones, do they need to be re-wired to be installed or can I use whatever existing wiring is already in there with the CK71s and basically just plug these in? I apologize for my ignorance.

I got my first set in 2022 and several months after the both slowly started to fail due to water ingress in the lights and corrosion of the contacts at the connectors. Chris sent me a replacement set last year and I installed them Sept 2023. Had the car up on my lift to do an oil change today and behold, the driver's side has water in it again with a small section no longer working near the bottom.

The car isn't winter driven and has had only 6000km put on it since I installed the replacement units. This is getting ridiculous - especially considering what I paid for them. With him now going through personal stuff I guess there's no point in even trying to contact him for yet another replacement set. I even made sure to add some extra sealant at the back and where the harness goes into the housing. I had some extra PRC Aircraft Fuel Tank Sealant left in my toolbox so I used that. I have no idea how the water is getting in there. It's not like I'm holding a power washer nozzle an inch away from it when washing the car.

I don't see how the eBay version could be any worse than this leaking crap I have now. Only difference I guess is the eBay ones aren't switchbacks unless someone knows of some that actually are.

I'm using a headlight breakout harness so I don't have to cut into the factory harness. I'll probably try the ones from ebay and integrate them into my existing wiring configuration.

Needless to say that I'm not impressed at all with these CK71's. They look great; for the short time they last. Right now getting a third set appears to be a long shot.

At least you got a replacement set, I didn't even get an email reply.

Mine were a year out, and the warranty is only 6mo so I didn't even bother reaching out.

Ripping into it with a dremel and pliers was fun though

I was thinking about trying to tear apart my original failed set and put a replacement strip from DD in there.

Did you manage to get yours apart? Did you replace the strips?

Trying to figure out my options. I really like the lights but their durability sucks large.
