Depreciation over the last two months is still significant - no signs of slowing down yet.

Trucks, SUV's, CUV's, and sports cars have been depreciating at a lower rate. Sedans, hatchbacks, wagons, vans, and EV's have been dropping at a higher rate. I think that shows what the average car buyer is seeking out. The less desirable models had their prices propped up by low availability, which has largely passed.

Interesting. On my almost six years old lease, it projects the residual value of the GT1 to be $24,156.60 by lease end - 36 months. And three years later, there we are. COVID did that. Without that supply chain screw up, I wonder where the residual value would be now?

Great price if everything checks out. At least $2k below the average for the miles, and if you like the color combo it's not too common on 2018's (many were red/black).

There really aren't any common, major reliability issues.

Vibration or shaking while braking has come up with a lot of owners, but is fixed with aftermarket brake pads.
The transmission for some has had hard shifts, particularly when cold - that is most often fixed by resetting the transmission's adaptive values either at the dealer or with a bidirectional OBD link.
Trunk rattle is also common, and there's an inexpensive kit to fix it.
Some rattles may pop up, particularly with the sunroof.
The dark chrome trim at the top of the windows tends to discolor.

Mostly minor stuff given the amount of miles some owners have, though of course there are some outliers with transmission, differential, or turbo failures.

As with any used car, paying the small amount to have a pre-purchase inspection done to the car is well worth it. If this is a private seller and you have a Kia dealership local to you, perhaps you could arrange to meet the seller there.

If I was looking for used stinger right now, I would have made sure the real main seal wasn't leaking.

There are no model issues down the road. The Stinger is solid. Normal wear and tear replacement/maintenance as with any car. Yes, some vehicles have sprung main seal leakage, very few of them. You could just as likely encounter a piece of suspension failure, or a tranny that grenades. A few of those have been reported on here. Those are individual failures, not model failure propensities, of which there are none.

If the car you are looking at has checked the boxes of obvious appearances, and test drives hopefully, that is a great price. I've seen local offerings of Premiums with twice the miles asking just under $30K. Of course, unless the seller finds a lucky mark, they won't ever sell at that price. But that's just indicative of the price range. I think that GT2 you describe is trying to move the car. At that price, they will. Unless something is obviously warning buyers off.

Despite interest rates remaining high, prices did not drop in the last two months.

This has been seen across the used car market. Perhaps tax refunds coming in, buyers not being as concerned as when big inflation first hit, or warmer weather bringing out more car buyers?

Does anybody knows if instrumental cluster language can be changed on korean models? Cuz I don't see that option in USA models(at least pre 2021 models, haven't seen any newer models instrumental cluster)

Seeing the graph and how its progressed over the last pages of this thread makes it seem like nows the best time and the value I could get for 30k seems high but im not sure. is the tribute worth it?

30k for tribute is a good deal, if the title is clean and it doesn't have a lot of miles. Trying to time the car market is a waste of time. Car is not an investment. Just get it, and enjoy. It will depreciate in real or nominal terms anyway, unless you are one of the people who think stinger has some collectors value.

Agree, the Tribute is cool, but not enough to blow your budget and try to convince yourself it'll be some collectible. Probably more important to decide whether there are certain paint colors you really want, or features you need a higher trim to get, and then just buy the best condition one you can find that doesn't leave you overextended.

I went to cargurus to check prices, out of curiosity. But noticed strange thing. Nationwide, there're 845 rwd and 98 awd stingers for sale right now. Always thought they are roughly 1/1 ratio. And this is like 9/1.

Something is off on Cargurus. Autotrader shows close to 1:1 - 449 & 413.

When I look at the results on Cargurus, the tagline is RWD for many cars that you can tell are AWD from the photos.
