In the NA market, kia decided to use a full clear plastic for the turn signals, I should edit my post and mention specifically the turn signals (whoops my bad). But if you look, you can see how the ones I have, have a black backplate to the turn signals lights, so it matches the pattern of the signals from the front and also matches that backplate from the reverse lights as well.
It's a very subtle change, but it's like one of those, finer details for a whole lot of money
I was gonna get those as well but I never was a fan of the middle piece that does nothing. I opted for the 2022+ Korean spec lights instead as I think the light bar is a cleaner look across the back of the car when the lights aren't on. Plus I like the sequential turn signals.
2020 GT2 AWD Just had the 45000 mile complete service done including new spark plugs.
Shop did everything the manual called for except new tires and brakes, (did those at 38000 miles)
I was wondering if the dealer overcharged me or is that pretty much the going rate at the Kia dealer.
$1400.00 U.S..
Please advise.
Thank you.
With the spark plugs change, I don't think that you got taken, if plugs were added into what KIA recommends at every c. 30,000 miles. If you had that done again at 45,000 miles I'd say that is overkill, but not overpriced. By "overpriced", I mean the dealership didn't take advantage and charge more than they normally do. I think that dealerships typically charge more than private shops do. But that hasn't stopped me from taking my Stinger to the dealership that sold it to me.
That's not what the book says. Ima looking right at it, and this 2019 trims book says for all trims but the Base, "LED headlights & rear turn signals".
Funny, my 2019 gt2 is definitely all LED all the way around inside and out except for the backup lights, I replaced those with LED shortly after I bought it.
Before I swapped mine out for the 2022+ style, mine were full LED on my 2020 base gt as well except for the reverse lights. It's still full LED, it's just not the single, individual LEDs like the Korean version has and as I said, it appears to have some kinda cover over it.
If they hadn't been full LED I woulda needed resisters for the lights to function properly but everything was plug and play minus trying to fit the light bar in.
It has been mentioned though that some stinger's don't have full LED tail lights Pretty sure somebody posted that their gt2, not sure what year had a bulb in there. Like I said, my car is a base gt and still has full LED so idk what exactly Kia was thinking.
Heres what the NA market one looks like compared to the asian market one (when on) you can see the frosted/diffuser lense with cutouts to 'mimic' the asian style one, which is shown when lit. In the previous photos above that inner layer of what was supposed to be the frosted/diffuser layer is completely black with the same style signal as the front headlights.
Edit: heres a link to the taillights in action if anyone cares,
Yup, today was painful - a few hours of bending over the engine bay. AFE Takeda Momentum intakes installed I've managed to crack the engine cover while taking it off, so I'm a bit bummed.
Nothing ambitious, just a little attempt at getting the taillight to stop working loose at the forward/outer end. The left side is much looser and the crack is wider than the right side. I have no idea why the assembly is loose on the '19 Premium, but tight as a glued seal on the '18 GT1. Ima NOT taking one of them off to check for differences!
I wrapped the alignment prongs with a single layer of electrical tape. The focus is on that pointed end prong. If the taillight assemblies work loose again, I'll try a second layer of tape. If the tape ends up merely in the way, without providing any adhesion to the prongs in those holes, I will get a black double-sided tape and line the full length of the assembly rubber liner - that's supposed to be keeping water out, but obviously isn't when the taillight assembly has worked loose from the fender.
Busy weekend! Received and put on a new set of wheels yesterday and blacked out the front grill. Today was the rear bumper moldings and an install of an MBRP catback exhaust. Pain in the ass doing the exhaust on ramps but got it done. Have a feeling I'm going to pay for it tomorrow though.

Please reply to my April 6 post about paying over $1400.00 for a complete tune up at a Kia dealer .Work included Oil change and all car filters, wiper blades, etc. Labor $720 parts $480 plus tax and some other small items. truth is the car runs beautifully now but $1400 seems excessive. I would like to know your thoughts. Thank you.
Ron
Depends on exactly what was done and what parts were replaced but $480 for spark plugs, wipers, all filters and oil isn't too bad. It took me a few tries to find a service center that didn't try to take the piss. One place wanted $135cad to replace a cabin filter claiming it was dirty... I'd just replaced it myself for $30 in 5 minutes a few weeks back.
You'll have to do your own homework and check what fair parts prices are, but there's a lot you can do yourself in your driveway with a few tools and save not only on parts, but especially labor. Just keep a log and digitize all receipts to satisfy warranty requirements.

Wondering if the reflector strip on the side has an LED or a regular bulb in it. I don't think mine has been working since I got the car back from the body shop 2 years ago.
