3.3TT Transmission and Diff Fluid

I think the dealer quotes 350 Canadian for front diff fluid change for the stinger...thats why I did it myself.
Not sure how different the G series is but the Stinger looks impossible until you find the fill...thats the hard part.
I could easily do it in less than an hour now that I know exactly where to look and how to access it.
Wow that's like 250$ for one hour job crazy! I just finished the transmission fluid as well drained 4 quarts the trans was at 160F hence the 4 quarts, put in 4 quarts and 8 ounces came out when I checked the level while the car was running and the trany at 138F. I went with Amsoil signature series transmission fluid.
Now only the front differential is left and I'm not doing it, I will pay my mechanic to do it.

That old fluid doesn't look too bad, I think I did a double flush when I did mine.
I think the full volume is around10 quarts...up here we measure by liter..I bought 2 5 liter jugs when I did mine.
Did it pass the smell test?....lol
Sounds like you were over full.....if 8 ounces came back out. I did a level check before my flush and only got some splash back.

LOL I use the Metric system as well it's easier. The transmission fluid was good it smelled like the new fluid just the color was different, I went with a quick drain and fill for this time but I will probably change the pan and filter when I pass 90k miles, now I'm at 45k.

Got the front differential fluid replaced by my mechanic, he charged me 60$ for labor.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Nice, sounds like a reasonable deal.
Yea dealership wants 250$ (labor only) And they would only use OE fluids so that's an extra charge.

What did you use to measure the ATF temperature?

I'm a little confused because the service manual says it should be an o-ring (which I assumed is rubber) on the drain plug. Is it a crush washer like on the oil drain plug? I have crush washers but I can't find the rubber o-rings.
Thanks!

He was probably talking about differential plug. The only way to get that o-ring is to buy the whole transmission pan. You can reuse that o-ring, don't worry. I have done it many times already, without any problems.

The two lower plugs on the trans pan one is for drain and the other for level check are O-rings. The fill plug which is on the side of the trans body I believe it uses a crush washer. Transfer case also uses crush washer, it has one plug for drain, fill and check.

I just oiled the original O-rings and called it a good

^yep
bottom plugs can't really be crush washers because that pan is some composite material that isn't very strong. The side fill plug goes into the actual aluminum body.
The fill plug on mine must have been tightened by Jake "the animal" Steele because I swear it must have taken 300 foot pounds to crack it loose and I thought I snapped the allen right off in the bolt head it cracked so loud.

I didn't even bother with that level check procedure either. I just measured what came out and tried to put the same back in. Couldn't even get in quite as much before it was just running out the fill plug so I just quick threaded it back in and called it a day.

I had to use a pipe to open my differential fill plug. But what a difference after I replaced the transmission fluid, the car shifts lol very smooth you can't even feel it!

You can get replacement o-rings easily enough. I've got a kit box full of different sizes, and even if there isn't one that fits, I can measure the old o-ring and buy replacements. That said, it isn't that big a deal to re-use the o-ring.

Nothing worse than a constipated transmission.

Lol damn you autocorrect! Yeah man I have an O-rings kit that I bought from Amazon, but the OE one was in perfect condition.Screenshot_20240110-075549.webp

For sure. As cheap as these kits are from Amazon, it's great to have a big assortment box handy.

I've been putting off doing the ATF flush on our '19 Stinger, which is a bit overdue in my book. But heck, it's more fun to do mods on the '23 2.5T. :) I did get a brand new replacement pan, so I shouldn't have to pull the drain plug on it. The check-level plug I still have to pull, but I'm not changing that o-ring, especially on a new pan.

yep, I needed a pipe for that damn trans fill plug.
Interesting your trans fluid change made a noticeable difference. Honestly mine made no difference at all, I wouldn't have even known it was done.
I just did it at 30k because the car was bought new so I like to do the first change at an early interval to get the break in crap out.
But that didn't look bad either. Wasn't much crap in the pan (I replaced the whole pan) and the fluid looked pretty good for break in fluid.
