3.3TT Transmission and Diff Fluid

View attachment 77302can this fluid be used instead of the OE one?
The AMSOIL data sheet says its compatible with SP-IV-RR spec. Transmissions are pretty picky though. Believe Ravenol is the OEM fluid manufacturer but I found the cost at the dealer for the Kia brand fluid to actually be less than either AMSOIL or Ravenol. SP-IV-RR is really the only requirement.

I did a drain and fill last spring with this exact fluid. Transmission shifts great, fast and crisp with the Lozic TCU. I plan to do another drain and fill this spring. This is the fluid I would recommend. I'm a believer in AMSOIL products. I did my front and rear diff at the same using AMSOIL.

I put dex/merc synthetic ATF in mine
did it about 5000 miles ago, shifts perfectly

I don't really care much about the price, I want this car to last more than myself lol, but I did some research and I saw that Amsoil signature series will reduce the temperature of the trans and it perform better in the cold weather, because I live in little Rhoady the trans shifts like an M car in the cold mornings it feels like a child kicking the back of my seat with every shift.

Hallelujah, Amen brother.

Never heard about dex/merc fluid before, I will look into it! Thank you.

i have been using the ravenol sp rr fluid , awesome product from Germany. and its the correct fluid to use not one that just says its compatible

What do you mean by that, so if I use Amsoil, what you will happen to my trans?

See this is what I mean by the Amsoil floes better at colder temps.

I've had my Stinger for ~20k miles now and was looking into what others had done on the forums. Haven't seem much info between the trans and limited slip diff. After thinking about OEM "lifetime" fluids I figure I spend a few hard earned dollars and do a full (filter & fluid) service on our cars. If everything looked great I'll extend my next maintenance but if it didn't, I'll have peace of mind.

Now of course fluid color doesn't necessarily mean that it has gone bad but considering what I saw, very happy I performed this service early. I can't imagine what another 80k plus would look like. Posting pictures here in case anyone else was interested. For reference, ~75% of my driving is highway commuting. Used all OEM fluids.

Transmission: Old transmission pan, absolutely full of shimmer and glitter. Magnets had some fuzz as expected. The filter element is apparently a mesh-foam type material. Looked like that could get clogged much easier than a traditional screen. Could see this looking down into the vertical larger tube. Fluid was pretty dark but otherwise no surprises other than all the glitter which settled quickly in the bucket. Used about 8 qts to fully drain, flush new pan once, and then refill. Would highly recommend using one of the pressurized containers which screw into the level check drain plug. Seemed like the transmission fill plug had been loctite in place, was absolutely not able to get mine out. Ended up filling from the bottom like a lot of newer models are requiring. Also, the harsh downshifts were noticeably smoother after changing the fluid. We'll see how long it lasts but I was surprised.

Rear Differential: Cleaned off what seemed to be a reasonable amount of material from the drain plug magnet. Old fluid was very dark and full of glitter; was obvious when stirring the fluid around. Compared to the ease to do and minimal cost for ~1.5 qts of fluid, this is a no-brainer for me to replace every 20k moving forward. Zip tied a tube to a sealable bag and squeezed the new stuff into the fill plug. Interesting that the recommended amount (equal to amount drained) did not overflow the fill plug. So not sure its meant to be used as a level check in our case.

Which fluids did you use? Going to try to knock these out this weekend.

he used all oem fluids ,, i used the ravenal fluid

FYI, I did mine at 30k miles and the fluid came out looking pretty darn good for an auto that was new. I was very surprised.
Anyhow, dex/merc synthetic ATF and it runs and shifts perfectly, now I'm at about 37000.

Took out exactly 1.5 quarts of the rear differential and replaced it with the same amount but with Amsoil 75w-90.
Also the whole job for replacing the rear differential fluid including the time it took me to put the car on jack stands was one hour, not too bad for a first time.

Try doing the front next...lol
Not nearly as easy..finding the fil plug is a task in itself, and you need to run a tube to the fill line because it is so buried you cant get even a bag close to it. Mine back diff wasnt nearly as nasty at 100k kms...but I drive like a grandma...lol

I drive like a crazy person. Also do you know what is the bolt size of the front differential and the transmission as well.
Also I went for a drive and it's much smoother than before wow!

The front fill plug is a 8mm hex I think..I believe all the trans fill, drain and level check are the same size 8 mm hex.
The front diff drain is 17mm...dont drain the front until you get the fill plug out just in case you cant.
I had to use a 1/2 breaker bar to get the fill out...they are Loctite in pretty good.

Remove the 4 mount bolts for the steering rack. The steering rack will drop several inches giving easy access to the front diff fill plug.

Thank you sir!

I will try to get it done without removing the sway bar or the steering rack first, but if I failed I will be dropping things and cussing bc I'm working on a G80 sport AWD it might have a slightly more room than the Stinger and the G70.

And omg the old diff fluid stinks, it's smelled like a crusty septic tank.
