Drag/Acceleration The Official 1/4 mile track thread.

I know this thread has been dead since the official 1/4m “quickest Stingers on the planet” list, but curious if anyone has beat John B’s #1 10.9sec track time yet?

Yes but it was a dragy run, not a paper slip

Yes. I beat the record with a 10.850 slip. It's been posted all over Facebook and on leaderboard websites such as stingertop20.com, kataracing.com, and dragtimes.com. I even posted a video on YouTube.

Since then Charlie Ashby demolished my record on dragy in his G70 with a 10.79.

Yea but that’s a totally different record in my opinion. 2 different kinds of car. Can’t really compare them. Like comparing a Hellcat Charger with a Hellcat Challenger…

I'm kinda lost here. They're both Stingers I thought?

I agree. Thats why in all my post i just say "G70 record". :)

Does anyone update this anymore or have people just stopped doing the 1/4 mile time? Anyone has the new list.

Thank you! I have a question on your website you sell a spacer. What is that spacer for?
The site as a description but..
This 1" Phenolic material separates the upper intake and the lower intake. The kit comes with 8 stainless steel bolts with washers and a pre cut gasket. Please read the note below before ordering. This spacer can lower you IAT temperatures by raising it off the lower where all the heat is created. Spacers are also proven to increase Horse Power and especially Low End Torque. An additional bonus is the ability to reach plug #3, with an the extra 1" of space, pulling that plug is now just as easy as the others.

NOTE: WITH THIS SPACER, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO CLOSE THE HOOD WITH THE PLASTIC ENGINE COVER ON THE CAR, IT MUST COME OFF.

Interesting. So the hood will close fine as long as you take engine cover off correct? Just for being able to reach those spark plugs sounds like it’s worth it. Performance wise you think is worth it, just curious on average what was the temperature decrease?

Going to the track tomorrow. Seeking to make history and get better than 13 seconds in the quarter mile. Trying to make the Kia stinger list for fastest in the planet.

Yes, the hood WILL close without the cover. I average 7-10 degrees above ambient while I'm cruising around. The CF hood with louver helps, but getting that upper intake separated from the lower is the key. With Temps barely above ambient, when I turn on either WMI or CPI, it has that much less to work to get it at and below ambient because of where it's starting. Last is that pesky #3 plug, yes.... no issues pulling out the coil pack now, super easy.

Just curious do you have any in stock? If not when will you have more in stock?

I have the blanks, the raw material. I chuck it up in my CNC and hit GO. 1 hour later I have a complete spacer. I will try and get one or two done tonight, then I will update the website with stock.

The new list is here and I maintain it. It contains both Stinger and G-70, paper slip and dragy. The quickest stingers on the planet
Very cool!

Back in my FD RX-7 days, a friend of mine started collecting quarter mile times from others in our group…at the time a big email list as this was in the “alt dot” days.

His site was (and still is) DragTimes.com. Brooks now has a YouTube channel that has been successful enough for him to own a 2005 and new model Ford GT, Hurrican, 570S, SF90, Model S Plaid, very low mile bone stock FD RX-7, and he just placed an order on a Koenigsegg Gemera.

Sorry I was in Aruba, no coverage at sea. Yes, the hood closes no problem. I had one customer tell me he got it closed with an aftermarket hood like the siebon. I have that hood but all that cover does is hold heat and soak the intake with the hot engine. Car performs much better with the cover off and the spacer.

the kia and Genesis (still just a kia. lol) are the same one is just a sedan and one is a hatchback.
