What did you do to your Kia Stinger today?

The stinger rested comfortably in the garage while I slaved over the snow blower trying to install the finest from ebay. This was the result.

Ordering some OE ones instead. A local lawn place tried to sell me on a new blower. Not until the old one dies entirely, thank you.

PXL_20230603_231425657.MP~2.webpI just looked at her. For more than an hour. Going on five years of togetherness and we know each other inside and out.

those wheels look so good on black.
Thanks. I spent months trying to find a supplier that could stock-match to the black chrome trim to no avail and settled on these as 'good enough' vs going the custom powder coating route.

Stance SF10 in 19" 8.5 front and 9.5 rear wearing Continental DWS06+ 245/40 front and 275/35 rear.

IMG_6449.webpTook the Korean spec center console with cupholder cover and wrapped it in Carbon Fiber, not perfect but it’ll do…. Next up, swapping the shifter to the Carbon N Line… so many posts and not very clear lol

I finally had some time to install the rear Whiteline end links and they went on just fine. Followed by properly setting the adjustable end links so there is no pre-load.

Unfortunately, installing new end links did not solve the issue for the popping sound coming from the rear driver's side wheel. I hear this noise while driving slow, and when turning (anytime the suspension moves). It also makes a popping noise when putting it into gear, before even moving. And while raising and lowering the tire off the ground. It does not make the sound when parked and bouncing on the rear end.

First was wondering if it was a bad ball joint or control arm, some other suspension linkage? Then I shared some videos with my father-in-law, who guessed it might be a drive shaft joint or rear end. Then he sent me another text saying he's wondering if it's a half shift failing; like the joint is loading & snapping through its wear point. Not sure.

I will be contacting the dealer tomorrow to set up an appointment soon.

Here are a few videos.

^^^never mind. I was having an issue with audio but figured it out.

I haven't been following this story. you are saying that this popping sound was before you installed endlinks?

Correct. My car started making this noise a couple weeks back. I thought it might have been bad end link(s) so I ordered some Whiteline links hoping it would solve the issue. But now it seems to be something else.

It's not hard to swap em

Got squeezed in an underground carpark , scraped the rim when i bounced up the gutter and the force of impact popped the guard vent off

No dramas but $257 to repair is a stretch so i am seriously thinking of repainting them all in Gloss Black

Smoothed it out myself this arvo so it wasn't so noticeable, but it is

^^^ouch! that is one deep rim ding. you could smooth it out more by extending the area to make it less abrupt. and I agree on black wheels being the answer especially if this is going to happen again and it is always going to happen again just a matter of when and how bad. black touchup is ten times easier than alloy or some other finish.

and now I know what the underside of the brake vents looks like.

A multi channel chassis ears set is the perfect tool to diagnose issues like this.

Thanks for the suggestion, I will check those out.

Lotta maintenance work yesterday with some upgrades...

Did both front...

...and rear brake pads with Powerstop Z26 Street Warrior pads, as well as bedding. So far no pulsation.

(Now she's able to shoot at the walls of heartache... )

I also did a standard oil/filter change...

I swear, I wish I would have known about the Fumoto valve years ago. That thing is money! I also of course emptied the OCC:

And for the sake of information, in 3000 mile she caught about 1/4 cup of gunk (about 60mL).

I also did K&N filters, as well as a K&N Cabin Air Filter (cabin not pictured)

And since I wasn't happy with the sound, I changed my stock horns to Hella Dual Trumpets...

Which have a low tone of 330hz and a high tone of about 500hz, which I believe is something close to an E5 chord, which sounds a lot less "happy" than stock. I'd post some .m4a's but I'm not allowed.

what adhesive are you using? I've glued both sides of mine with gorilla epoxy. the first hinge point was epoxied well over four years ago and is perfectly sound. the second was a month or two ago. I actually cut it loose first, it was wiggly, but I could have left well enough alone because though wiggly it was actually nowhere near coming off. well now it is really on.

Not sure the brand, but it is a 5 minute epoxy I got from Ace. I don't recall the kind I got last time, but it was also an epoxy. If this doesn't hold I'm going to switch to a fastener.
