Engine Replacement

If anything of consequence touches the turbine wheel it’ll cause significant damage to the turbo. If the turbo is damaged then yes, engine failure can occur.

No, this is what I have gathered from my recent posts.
got any pics of the cap, filters or turbo fins? But yeah, metal in turbo fins = not fun. Ask me how I know. A bit of metal possibly ripped off my KN intake pipe and got sucked in the passenger turbo during a crash. It then chewed up the turbo fins. Didn't damage the engine however, so no idea where it ended up after that. The car still ran and built boost even with the damaged fins. Of course, i replaced the bad turbo.

I can take pics of the filter with the missing end cap. I no longer have the end cap, but it had obviously sustained some kind of damage.

I can't imagine what else would have caused the destruction of the turbo.

The car has been running fine so far as I can tell. I have put a lot of miles on it, as I am always on the road.

The smoking finally stopped. I guess they were right about eventually burning out the oil that went into the exhaust.

It looks like I will have to claim on my insurance for the bad scratch and bumper dent that it returned with.

It's completely stock now. I got it up to 168 on level ground the other day. The front engine shield caught air and buckled back to drag under the car, so I will have to get one of those.

Must have been loose somehow. A couple of years ago, @Salman took their Stinger up to over 168 on that highway out of Riyadh (10, I believe); and the splitter got partially detached (pushed down); I think that was loose as well, but never learned what the upshot of that phenomenon was.

Most likely incorrectly installed as if fastened over the bumper it cannot buckle downwards.

after reading this. how do i make a proper log lol

Eyyyy I just started a thread the other week about my motor likely needing replacement after smoke billowing from the front and back of the car and then everythjng shutting down (car was vibrating and clicking from the jump that day but had never done that previously).

I got about 28k miles on her and I don’t drive every day bc I work from home — and I don’t push the car often at all. But I do do the E30 on Map 3.

But most of all, my oil light never came on so I thought I could continue not replacing the oil until 30k miles — but oh boy I was wrong bc now I need a new motor and that oil ignorance is what has cost me (no idea yet if any other contributing factors). I prob had the dealership last do the oil in late 2020 so yeah. Stupid is as stupid does.

So I also agree that it’s not necessarily courage to admit when you were wrong out here or anywhere, it’s just extreme ownership and that’s the best credo in life. And no one in real life has ever tried to test me like they have online all my years. Cuz they don’t want to take ownership of real world consequences ;)

Mod virgin out.

I wonder how people survived back in the day when cars had no service nannies and had to keep track of their own oil change intervals.

Wait...
1) You were waiting for the low oil light to come on before you change it?
2) or was that omission that you expected a nice new car to keep track of your mileage and notify you to change the oil?

Because option 2 is almost ..... accidental homicide

Where as option 1 is premeditated murder

And "lube job" meant a grease gun was involved.

3) I wanted to watch the world burn

It amazes me how one can spend thousands modding a car and yet not spend so much less on a simple oil change.

^^^there is that you tube channel of mechanics showing gruesome tales. several have been shared on here. I remember the sedan that had reached 60,000 miles and was taken into the shop. and it was discovered that the oil had never been changed since the car was bought new. after everything was cleared out and new oil put in, it ran fine. bmw, if I recall.
