Kia Stinger Navigation Map Update

Right. That's my issue too. Would be nice if it had some sort of usb port pass through so a flash drive plugged into the device could be selected. Some of us have tried using a hub but that was failure.

You could dump your music library to your phone. I have poweramp on my android device as the media player.

I only use FLAC or equivalent files. Too much for phone or Bluetooth. The USB can barely keep up with the bandwidth. Even with those files, the audio quality of the system in the car is marginal (for my ears).

What is this Motorola unit people are referring to? Can someone provide a link to info or purchase? Thx!

two of the best things i added to my car was the Motorola AA unit JSolo linked above, and a Baseus super slim wireless charger (factory wireless charger disabled, placed this right on top of it, plugged in to a USB adapter in the 12V cig port).

simplifies everything - stick phone on charger, it charges without cooking the phone, and AA starts right up.

I installed the update, the biggest changes I've noticed is that there is now a clock in the corner while the SVM or backup cameras are in use, and the Android Auto album art on the home screen is presented slightly differently.

Phone call wise, can make calls from my address book just fine. I can't dial a number from the head unit with the 0-9 digit pad while the car is in motion. I don't know if this is new or not, I've never tried to dial a number that isn't in my address book, but figured I'd try since people were asking about it.

Thank you for reporting on the address book! That's the feature I was hoping they didn't screw-up and force the appallingly bad voice recognition.

By the way, does anyone else with telematics find it interesting that when using NAV address search, you can say (voice) the same address into the NAV directly with about a 20% success rate, but asking Google (via the physical search button on the headliner) results in a 99% success rate. Both are going to the same NAV and both are using the same hardware (no phone involved). How can the built-in voice be that bad?!?!

^^Search in the headliner? Is this a Gt2 only feature?

Canada (and other countries), where we have telematics in the car (it has its own Internet connection). It also means when you search for a point of interest you get anything in Google instead of the ridiculously small and outdated list that is in the built-in NAV.

Was free for 5 years with my vehicle purchase. (Canada, in 2019)

^^Cheap in the US, just 1 yr. Either way, I passed on the trial. Not too happy about a "connected" car. Wish I could rip out the lte modem.

Was just about to download and the 22 model year is longer listed and I also get a message saying update not yet available for my car. So I wanted to ask those who have updated - Does Android Auto still look terrible? Resolution has always been noticeably worse and the screen does not fill out completely. I know it's nitpicky of me, but its the only reason why I don't use AA but I'd like to.

Why.......... Why............. Why!?@#!?@#?!@#

Last sunday the clock got turned back an hr. Today was the first time driving the car since the time change. Car is gps enabled, knows its exact position, knows time zone of said position, head unit set to obtain time from gps, and I'm sure I saw a timezone file or some sort in the fw update (may 2022). Yet, the damn thing did not set itself back an hour.

Your car knows the time, but it does NOT know if you are in an area that observes Daylight Savings or not, and it does NOT know exactly when the time is changing apparently.

You don't need to manually change the time, but you DO need to manually uncheck the Daylight Savings checkbox.

It does seem like a GPS-enabled device should be able to know if you drive into Arizona or a reservation that doesn't observe Daylight Savings. The car would probably need a more advanced internet connection to determine what dates and times the changes happen. It is set in law at the federal level in the US, but that did change several years ago, and it will change per country as well.

But it does. That's what the timezone file is for. I hope at some point in my life time this 2x year time change garbage goes away.

I just assumed the timezone map only has time zones, not Daylight Savings areas, but I really have no idea.
