*Update*. The customer has tested our ECU Tune up to Full E85.

Cool, any gains?

I've been running JB4 w/ WMI+E30 for over a year and have been very happy. I am becoming more interested in switching to LAP3 ECU and TCU tune. My question is can I still use the JB4 as a WMI controller and for logging? I am very happy with my WMI configuration and don't see a need to rip it out and start from scratch.
I know this thread is a little old but I wanted to ask if you have had any unwanted effects from the JB4. I have a new GT2 and last I want to do is take it back to the dealer with a CEL and have to strip off the JB4. I am doing CAI and snorkels next week and considering a Jb4 but hesitate because she is so new.
Thanks

I have JB4 for over 2 years and have been fine. Added WMI over a year ago and even happier. No issues knock wood. Other than burning through tires, LOL. Pretty fun to hammer the car now. also have 8 hours on the track and no issues, including running WMI on the track all 8 hours. Running great. Caveat is I still haven't gotten to 9k miles on the car, so wouldn't expect too many issues with that few miles.

Excuse my ignorance WMI? Thats awesome. So seems like you modded out your car when it was new as well? If you do experience a problem would you end up stripping off the mods before you took it to the dealer? Or do you have a shop / mechanic that can do that for you ?

Water Meth Injection, also from Burger. Allows you to run higher boost. Say stock boost is 12-15 range depending on weather, I'm seeing 21-23 lbs of boost. I did have to take the car in for the recall on the fuse box, at that time WMI wasn't installed, so I just pulled off the JB4 (super easy) exhaust, intake, etc. do not cause issues with warranty, so those things stayed on. Since then I've never been back to the dealer. Knowing what I know, if I were in your shoes, I would get the JB4 -450 HP package and not look back. If you have to go in for service, just take the JB4 off. super simple. This assumes you have access to 93 octane gas. If you do, you can run map 2 and see a nice boost/power increase. The only part of the package that's remotely hard to install is the spark plugs. Multiple videos out on that. Otherwise, just gap the plugs, then take it to a mechanic and have them install the plugs. or see who on the forum is local to you and see if they can assist with plugs. I bet there's someone near you that would be willing to help for a case of beer or something.

So you are saying you only took off the the JB4 and left on the intake and exhaust ? How you wrote it kinda seems like you took off jb4 exhaust and intake ? Just wanted to clarify ? I already have a mechanic lined up to help with the intake, snorkels. They have the jb4 and plugs I just have to give them the go ahead. What about your oil changes ? If those aren’t done on regular interval that can void warranty but I assume they can be done at a non-dealer mechanic? Just gotta keep receipts ? Thanks for all the help. I do have access to 93 octane in Cali and 98 near our other home in the desert.
Please clarify on the stripping of mods so I know exactly. Thanks for your guidance.

Not sure if you guys saw my post on FB but here is an update.

E65+ with no CPI is now possible with LAP3 Performance! Never thought this was possible but here we are. I was given the opportunity to try the latest ECU Tune from LAP3. The new LAP3 Stage2.5+ Tune aka LAP3 Linear Boost Tune is a game changer.
With my last car, I was able to run E85 when paired with LAP3 ECU and CPI. With the new tune, and I am now able to run E65+ without CPI/Meth!!! The best part is, AFR, Fuel Trims and Fuel Pump are spot on with every single pull. Fuel pump is happy, AFR stays at 12-12.2 and fuel trims are 25-30ish. Attached a few screenshots of the logs. NOTE: “METH” on the log shows CPI duty cycle and as you can see it says “0” which means CPI is turned OFF. One log on E65 and one on E75. Then one showing back to back runs and how consistent the data is

Again, no WMI and no CPI.

Can they do different levels of aggressiveness for the different drive modes? I.e. eco cuts back on timing if you can only get ca91, sport is for full e85, etc?

The stage 2.5 tune requires WMI, CPI or high E85 content. So if you have to put 91 one in, just drive normal and dont get on it. I have had to do this tons of times until I can get E85. One was on a 4 hour drive home from vegas.

This is what is pushing me in the direction of the sxth ek1. The ability to load different maps to the ecu depending on fuel is very promising. I am sure lap3 has the resources to figure out different maps on the ecu, unless there is something else limiting that.

Good luck getting an EK1. Not expecting any until next year last time I checked. I'm also interested....

LAP3 2.5 tunes offer maximum performance while still maintaining reliability. Switchable modes is all nice and fancy but I have yet to see SXTH push out fast cars as consistently as LAP3.

First you don't have good fuel management 2nd if can't get real e85 then 2.5+ tune is not right for you

Not many cars have the SXTH tune as LAP3, so it is hard to say if they don't preform as good. But even if it doesn't preform as good, I think (well for me at least) the convenience factor of being able to switch the maps and having the EK1PRO screen to monitor and data log etc is worth the it. I believe the total cost is less than LAP3 including the EK1PRO screen.

It is also beneficial to get map updates, or for turbo upgrade, having tuners do their own tunes etc.
