Kia Stinger Navigation Map Update

So before this update, AA would use 2/3's of the screen with the right third just showing the model of the phone. Now, when set to 1280x720, it shows the map full screen.

When set to 1920x1080 option it still shows map using 2/3's, but the right third is now the AA media player if I understand correctly. I will test again before leaving this afternoon. If indeed it's 1920xsomething, map should be clearer. Before, AA map looked fuzzy, almost like it was being cast at a lower resolution then scaled up.

Full screen (1280x720) maps wasn't too bad. Major streets font seemed large enough, residential streets small until zoomed in.

Did my first real drive today with AA/google maps.

I tested both the full screen map (1280x720) and the 2/3's screen (1920x1080 option). While the full screen did occupy the full screen, the partial screen (2/3) was sharper. Neither one however was as easy to see at a glance as the inbuilt nav. Perhaps neither would be difficult in my younger years. Looking at it more closely, it's the google maps chosen colors that make it difficult. Too may shades of white/gray on white/gray.

Does anyone have suggestions for improving google maps visibility?

Speedometer - only shows while navigating and doesn't show YOUR speed, just the roadway speed limit

Clock? Where is the clock!?@#

Map orientation - I prefer 2d maps with track up. It offers 2d north up, 2d whole route, or 3d. Is there such a thing as 2d track up with google maps?

Re: Audio. I quickly dumped a small folder of recent mp3s onto the phone and installed vlc. It played relatively well. If I start using this platform more regularly I'll look into other players.

Thanks!

Anyone figure out how to get the audio to fade out? Did the update in my 22 and wasn't doing it. Thought it may be because I had that welcome/exit sound on so I turned that off and still no luck.
Updated over the weekend and have the exit fade out! Didn't do anything special. I don't see the option for "split screen" in the developer settings. Is it because I have the older 8" model?

Finally picked up a larger USB key and got my update installed. Update page instructions says use a 32gig USB...but actual size was 59gig. Said it would take 45 minutes...was more like an hour and 15.

New speech commands screen is nice but just a gimmick I won't use much.

New radio...well I guess I am happy I can move around pre-sets now...but the design is pretty ugly. No more tubes.

And black map for the in car nav I have turned on now. Will see how I like it.

Android Auto now does split screen things.

Attached pictures below.

Just noticed I have weird channels set to REC. How do I change that?

Does the split screen only work on the 10-inch screens? I thought I read somewhere that an update to AA will allow split screen on any size screen. Anyone else heard this?

If you have AAWireless you can change the DPI to force split screen now.

The update to AA to allow splitscreen everywhere is called "Coolwalk" and its not generally available yet. Google said "this summer". Coolwalk is a completely different interface compared to the split screen we have now.

That's a built-in feature of your radio hardware. Just means those channels record a few minutes of buffer, so you can hit the back button to start a song from the beginning.

In the previous version (Nixie tube), any channels that were set as your favorites, you could go into another menu (forget which one) and select this favorites that would record. Near as I can tell, it starts recording when the car is started. Not sure how much storage there is, but I have gone back several songs.

Anything worth updating in the new update for MY19 with the older screen, and on CarPlay?

Is that only with the newer hardware? I have a '19 GT1.

How do you enable the record option?
It just records... It's always on.
I wouldn't know how to turn it off.

I no longer use the radio though. Only Spotify for me.

latest version, AFAIK. April 2022, I think.
Pretty sure as long as it is marked as a favorite, it records as soon as you start the car.

man, ive had it with kia connect navigation. it took me to a dead end road last weekend. it couldnt even find the motorsports park in erda utah. i was late for my xtreme experience. and even just trying to pull up an easy address or name of business in utah, forget about it, its like it doesnt have every thing mapped out or in its database. its like it only has a small database of places to choose from.
cant believe you cant type on the screen while driving; you have to use the voice, and then the voice cant understand or comes back and says sorry bro i dont know what youre talking about.

^^^My most "interesting" experience being "guided" by NAV was in Atlanta three years ago, at dusk almost dark: arrived at the indicated street which was supposed to be a straight shot to the hotel. Well, it would be, if I wanted to crash through a wall of trees and across a quarter mile of lawn: apparently, the street which used to connect to the street further on, where the hotel is, had been severed and the intervening section converted to lawn (for a cemetery I believe, or a memorial park or similar). It took me most of an hour of asking people what was up to finally work my way around to the far end and approach the hotel on the same (but no longer connected) street. You might have experienced a similar change that NAV is unaware of. But maybe just NAV being stupid. I've not kept track of the times that we get close to the checkered flag, but cannot see the exact address: we've arrived, but locating the exact address is left up to our ingenuity, because NAV has nothing left to "say" on the matter. Sometimes the address is on the other side of a building or buildings, but indicates that it is "here", etc.

Locally, do you know what messes with NAV the worst? Utah County, where streets are numbered within townships according to alternating county designation and township designation. None of this massive confusion is NAV's fault.

found out from kia connect, i have an update to do. ive never done one before. i assume you have to sit in your with it running and insert the usb drive. i cant find much more information as far as what to expect, when its done, or if you have to restart your stingers computer when its finished...
