Kia Stinger Navigation Map Update

Installed today's update (yesterday's update technically)

Install was as straightforward as the previous 4 or 5 updates for me.

Took 21 minutes in the car (2018 stinger with SD card)

Since I live dangerously, I did it on accessory mode with the engine off.

This new black maps seems kind of low effort, but I kinda like it. Will try it out for a bit.

I don't like how it reset maintenance interval back to zero...as if I did an oil change today.

Everything other than the maintenance interval seems good as expected.

I do have those sweet sweet black maps.... which I really feel is a low effort from the design team.

Do the later model year Stingers still use an SD card for the NAV? I've seen USB sticks used to install the updates.

Have you noticed any improvements in UI/connectivity/speed? I usually don't bother with the strictly NAV updates but if there are other improvements i'll get this one.

My MY22 requires a USB stick plugged into the USB port to update.

Do you even have an SD card? The reason why I ask is because the 2018 Stinger uses the SD card: yet when I inserted a USB stick yesterday and started the update, the screen said I already have that software version: if the update went ahead, would the NAV read from the USB stick? The SD card was still in its slot: I never touched it. As long as I left the USB plugged in, I think that the NAV would use the update via the USB: but if I pulled it, the SD card would take over. If you don't have an SD card in the MY22, it must mean that the updates are taken directly into the system from the USB and the SD card is no longer necessary on the newer Stingers.

The SD card slot is only on the stingers that have GPS, the ones that don't, use USB from what I understand.

Nope, no SD card slot on the MY22

My MY22 has GPS/Nav and I don't have an SD card. It loads everything via USB.

Also, the last time I did the update, it took about an hour to run. Not exactly ideal.

When you did the update, did you do it "in the background" or not? The first time I did one, it took almost 3 hours in the background. Last update was only about 20 minutes, but I wasn't tryin to do anything else.

Plug the USB in, run the update, then remove USB. Everything loaded onto some sort of hard drive
This is what my question is directed at: the newer Stingers dispensed with the SD card because they have "some sort of hard drive". That's the theory anyway.

I'm currently downloading the update to my SD card (after reformatting it).

The first time I tried it, I didn't realize how long it was going to take. Initially I just had accessory power on and was doing it that way. When I realized it was going to take much longer than expected and the car was bugging me about battery drain I started it and drove it around until it said it was done. Unfortunately starting it caused the upgrade to be corrupted even though it didn't mention it was corrupted. Had weird issues after. So the next time I ran it I started the car and drove the whole time while the update was going. Took an hour both times. The second time was successful. I haven't done the April 28 2022 update yet though so we'll see.

Finished the update and do not like the new radio screens. Wish I could go back.

How many versions did you skip?

Is there anything new this version on the radio screen?
