Differential issue

Sort of like describing how an LSD (Limited Slip Differential) works when cornering and accelerating?
It's because his tires are lossing grip, then having it, then losing it. I had the same feeling the other day while accelerating coming off an on ramp. They had just sprayed brine on the road so one wheel was on the wet area and the other on the dry.

I emailed them to see if they have winters or all seasons that they can try out. Man, if the problem was as simple as that I would be elated. But really I would think the trained professionals at the dealership would point that out. It makes me think they do not realize what tires I am on.
Of all the car models Kia sells...

There is only 1 that can sometimes come equipped with Summer tires.

yes, from a dead stop on tight turns like turning out of a parking lot, I can also feel a slight lsd shudder if on the power a bit as the lsd is doing it's job especially if it is cool, once fully warmed up this should be lessened a lot. I know some from other car forums for cars with lsds have added additives to help somewhat at the low speed shudder but it generally doesn't remove it completely... what is odd to me though is the power cut, maybe it's the "traction/stability software change" the gts/indigo got but I rarely ever get a power cut.

most of these "trained professionals" are anything but... I think i've met maybe 2 mechanics that actually knew everything about a specific car when i brought it in for something, especially in the bmw world... took me ages to find a shop that knew their stuff..

If Kia Canada is the same as Kia USA, then trained professionals can range anywhere from actual monkeys, to people with 40 years of experience.

Added a WHILE TURNING WITH AN LSD (Limited Slip Differential).

This thread just reads to me as - normal behavior
Totally agree. Problem is driving on his Michelin's in Winter. Easiest solution as I mentioned above is to back to the dealer and have them swap out for a set of winters and test. Should have been the first thing done. Sorry to say that. Even the desired should have pickup on that in my opinion.

Perhaps the car thinks I have no traction so it cuts the power so I don't slip. Kinda like when it regulates your acceleration when you are on slippers surfaces.

Are you running Summer tires in the winter too?
that's a difference, i am not, pilot sport a/s 4 .. which i will say are phenomenal in the wet/cold. i'm not tracking the car so i'll take the small hit in the hot dry handling.

My AWD TLX with Michelin Xice was amazing as well. As if there was no snow out.

which made me think of a speed sensor issue, I say because i had a (ok, many many) wheelspeed sensor go bad on our bmws and sometimes even on normal gentle accel , traction control would kill the power because one sensor would send a speed way different than the others making the car a tire was spinning, and it only did this from accel from a stop, it never activated at speed though.

Don't put trust in anyone. They need to get cars in and out as fast as possible. They charge book rate but are always done sooner. The more they get through the more they make. Took my wife's car in for oil change. Got home to find the engine oil cap off and oil everywhere.

100% should have been. I maybe should have known they came on summers and not all-seasons but for sure the dealer should know that. If this is indeed the issue, we wasted so much friggin time.

That is infuriating. I am sure their response would be "sure, bring it back and we will fix it" as if they are doing you a favour.

What I also wonder is why did it seem fixed when I picked it up on Tuesday if it was a speed sensor. Or if it was anything else really.

I just want to say thanks everyone here for engaging - I really appreciate that I have somewhere to post/vent about this and that I get solid possible solutions to boot.

Did you ever swap the tires to a good all season or other tire for the cooler temps? obviously it is warming up now so tires shouldn't come into play as much... edit just saw your response

secondly, this to me sounds like it could be a defective wheel speed sensor (or some sensor relating to traction/stability most likely a wheel speed sensor) where the sensor is sending erroneous data making the car think a tire is slipping more than it is causing traction to kick in and kill the power far more dramatically. However, if you are accelerating normally and the back end is slipping/sliding swinging out on regular turns, then something is off, either defective tires/ LSD (Limited Slip Differential) like they think it is, /or really messed up alignment/damaged suspension. On our AWD with michelin pilot sport All Season 4 tires, even in the cold and wet i can pretty much floor it out of corners/intersections and only then will the tail end step out some, coming from a RWD bmw, this car feels like you can drive it like in the dry when in the wet and cold with the awd and good tires.
PS4 and PS4 All Season, are totally different tires. The Pilot Sport 4 are not for winter and your All Season are for Mild Winters.

How was the weather at the time, road condition, was the car in the shop keeping toast warm, so there tires would be more plyable? Get the winters on, see if it solves the issue and enjoy the car the way you should be. If it still occurs, god help you.

I have mirrored the weather but you do make a good point that it was in the shop. It wasn't parked outside when I picked it up so that very well can be why.

I spoke to the dealer and they are going to try and find all seasons or winters to try it on.

Hahahaha god help me indeed.
